Episode 1.13 Hanging By A Moment
Posted by Amy with No Comments
Overview:
On their way to pick up Karen from the airport, Keith and Lucas’ car collides with an oncoming vehicle and an unconscious Lucas is left fighting for his life. Having witnessed the accident, Dan races Lucas to the hospital and must acknowledge that Lucas is his son in order to save his life. Meanwhile, Peyton decides to tell Brooke about the kiss she and Lucas shared.
Recap:
It’s a new morning in Tree Hill and Haley has a problem. “I’m totally flagging PE and I need someone to show me how to throw a stinking free shot”. Given that it’s actually a “free throw”, she might have found a good tutor: Nathan.
Dan and Deb’s crisis grows deeper. Deb doesn’t look eager to mend their differences; Dan feels lonely and meets an attractive neighbour, Carrie, who is clearly interested in him.
While Haley succeeds in the whole free throw thing, Peyton and Lucas’ liaison is still running. Lucas wants to inform Brooke but Peyton doesn’t make it, since Brooke can’t help but claim how much she’s in love with Lucas. Peyton and Lucas continue sneaking around behind Brooke’s back. And it turns out someone sees them. Not Brooke – thank God – but Haley, and she’s really disappointed in Lucas.
Whitey has been coaching for twenty years and has won 500 games: in his opinion, it’s time he quit the team. Nathan doesn’t agree and manages to convince him to stay. “We both know I’ve got a long way to go, coach. Just don’t give up on me.”
Karen is about to come back from Italy and Keith is worried she might have changed her mind about the whole soon-to-be engaged thing. When Dan lets him know his bitter point of view (“If you weren’t good enough for her then, what makes you think you’ll be good enough for her now?”) Keith’s uneasiness grows: he ends up drinking a couple of beers. Ouch.
Deb stops by Dan’s beach house but she finds Dan with Carrie, and storms off. Later, Dan shows up at their house, and tells Deb he wants them to be a family again, but unfortunately, Deb wants something else: A divorce.
Karen is arriving and Keith and Lucas are driving to the airport to pick her up. Drama is on the way: their car collides with another vehicle. Dan, who happened to witness the car crash, rushes an unconscious Lucas to the hospital. The doctor says Lucas needs surgery and Dan agrees, acknowledging he is Lucas’ father. Doctors are preparing Lucas for the surgery but his heart rate monitors show a creepy flat line. To be continued…
