Episode 2.19 I’m Wide Awake, It’s Morning

Overview:

Nathan’s Uncle Cooper comes into town to take Nathan and Lucas on a racing trip. On the track, Nathan and Lucas are challenged to a race by the beautiful Daytona and her smart aleck brother Jarret, but things go horribly wrong when Nathan loses control of his car and crashes into a wall. Meanwhile, Deb’s addiction to pain pills intensifies and Dan exposes Andy’s relationship with Karen to his class.

Recap:

Someone has just arrived in Tree Hill: Cooper, Nathan’s uncle, who is Deb’s younger brother. Actually, Deb asked Cooper to come and visit Nathan, since she is very worried about her son. Uncle Cooper takes Nathan and Lucas on a racing trip, where they meet the beautiful Daytona and her know-all brother, Jarret. Daytona and Jarret challenge Nathan and Lucas to a race.
Meanwhile, Dan shows up at Andy’s class and he blurts out Andy and Karen are dating. As soon as the Dean learns the whole thing, he presents Andy with two options. “Either I end the relationship or… I lose my job.”
Brooke is worried about Peyton since Goldilocks keeps moping about Jake, so Brooke decides it’s time they had a girls’ night. Davis & Sawyer spend a nice evening at Tric, with Karen and Deb.
Mouth and Erica Marsh end up spending the evening together and they kiss, which makes Mouth really happy.
The next day, Dan finds Deb sleeping on the lawn. Yep, it turns out her addiction to pain pills has been intensifying lately. At the same time, Nathan loses control of his car and crashed into a wall. As soon as Deb tells Dan they can’t share the same house anymore, a phone rings: it’s about Nathan.
Whitey drops in on Peyton’s. Even though Jake doesn’t want her to visit him in prison - since it’s too heartbreaking - he wants her to know that Jenny is safe and fine.
At the hospital, Deb, Dan and Lucas learn Nathan’s lung collapsed: the boy needs surgery. Before going, Nathan tells Lucas not to inform Haley about what happened to him.
