Episode 3.6 Locked Hearts and Hand Grenades

Overview:

Brooke makes a "Fantasy Boy Draft," after all of the cheerleaders are fighting over the same guys. Haley and Peyton continue to argue over Nathan. Dan butts heads with Karen because the election is drawing nearer. Lucas is trying to keep up with the fast pace of basketball.

Recap:

Starts with Whitey cozzing for the team, and he sends them to the Gym for 16 laps in 60 seconds [something he calls suicide]. He’s like, "The way I see it, you kids owe this school a major debt. And you’ll find that payback is a bitch, and the currency is pain." Then the squabbles between Dan and Deb continue - Dan urinates in the pool before Deb goes in to swim - she had all the toilets on his side of the house blocked the previous night. Haley pretends to bump into Nathan in school so they could talk, about her being a cheerleader, and Nathan tells her she doesn’t have to. Also tells her he and Lucas were fighting about her [previous episode]. Brooke is still riled up about Lucas and Rachel together, even tho she orchestrated it. She finds him pinning up posters and apologizes for coming down on him when she found Rachel in his car, and told him she did have feelings for him.There’s a fight between two cheerleaders, and Whitey threatens Brooke that if there’s one more fight there won’t be any more cheerleading. So she comes up with the fantasy boy draft [all their fights were about boys]. The results of the draft don’t go Brooke’s way. Karen makes her first posters, they’re written on Roe Roe Roe Your Vote. Deb says they’re really original.Brooke gets caught in class passing a note to Peyton, and the teacher wants it and Rachel comes to her rescue and looks all heroic. Later that day at practice Lucas looks really beat and drags behind everyone else. The team gets mad at him. At Chris and Haley’s practices, he’s disappointed in her. His exact words: "It sucked so bad, I’m wondering if it’s possible to unhear a song." He tells her until she deals with things with Nathan her music will continue to suffer. Rachel fixes everyone up with boys for the draft, and they like her even more. Brooke wishes she’d die of TSS. Lucas goes back to the gym to practise on his own, and Dan finds him there and tells him to talk his mum out of the race. Haley researches and finds out that Lucas is sluggish because of his HCM medication.Chris finds Haley pinning names of musicians up a wall, and tells her she might become great too if she stopped running from her emotions and started instead writing from it. Lucas tries to tell Whitey why he’s been lagging behind, but can’t. Comes up with some cock-a-mimmy story about just being out of shape. Whitey rides the team even harder, and they hate Lucas even more. Peyton tells Haley she’s picking Nathan.It’s finally time for the draft picks. Boyfriend by Ashlee Simpson is playing. Haley tells Payton she can pick Nathan all she wants, but she knows they were meant to be together and sooner or later he’s gonna know it too. Karen tells Lucas she’s gonna have to work harder if she wants to beat Dan, and he decides to do that too - goes to the gym to make 16 laps in 60 seconds. At the draft things don’t go Brooke’s way and Peyton picks Mouth, Brooke - Chris [to screw over Rachel thinking Haley will pick Lucas], Rachel picks Lucas [she convinced Bevin to give her her number 3 spot for Rachel's number 5 spot], Haley - Nathan and Bevin - Skills. Dan plays dirty politics against Karen, and she retaliates.
