Overview:
The aftermath of the school shooting and the death of Jimmy Edwards forces everyone in Tree Hill to examine their lives. Nathan reassesses his relationship with Haley, while Brooke and Rachel join forces to heal the student body. Dan must deal with the ramifications of shooting Keith, while Lucas and Peyton consider the implications of their kiss in the library.
Recap:
Keith is dead and no-one can bear his death. Neither Lucas nor Haley nor Nathan nor anybody else. As the priest said at Keith’s funeral, the stages of grief are six: Denial, Anger, Fear, Guilt, Depression, Acceptance. And actually Karen is in full anger phase. She kind of says that if Lucas wouldn’t have entered the school, Keith hadn’t been dead right now.
Larry, Peyton’s father, tells he gave up his business trip since he is too worried about her. In the meantime, Dan is haunted by Keith’s ghost and it seems DD - Diabolic Dan is not able to find peace, even though he is convinced he did do the right thing, since he thinks Keith tried to kill him.
Lucas is distraught because of his mother’s words and he misses Keith very much. Brooke comes up with an idea to cheer everyone up: a party at school. Lucas doesn’t agree but Rachel points out: "If a party helps bring us all together, and helps everyone to deal with it, then why not?"
During the party, Lucas catches up with Peyton, who tells him that when she said she was still in love with him, it was because she thought she was going to die. She does not want things get awkward between them and Brooke. Lucas assures she does not have to worry about the whole thing, since he is in love with Brooke.
Mouth thinks Jimmy wouldn’t have done what he did if he hadn’t dumped him as friend. Rachel hints it and tells him it’s not his fault.Anyway, Mouth can’t help but feel guilty. He also notices everyone’s still divided, since everyone stick to those rigid circle of friends. He wonders when this is going to change. Rachel replies "Honestly? Probably never. Look, that’s human nature. People stick to their own kind. If you want it to change, you change it. I’ll help you!". Then, she asks him to dance with her.
Meanwhile, someone else asks Lucas to dance with her: Brooke. Unfortunately, he doesn’t feel like dancing, and he ends up claiming Brooke cannot understand what he is going through, since she wasn’t even there that day in which everything has changed. Then he storms out, leaving a hurt Brooke.
Haley begs Lucas not to give up on his dreams because of Keith’s death. Keith would have not wanted this for him. Haley reminds Lucas there is also Brooke in his life and he can’t give up on their relationship. Lucas figures Haley is right, so he goes and look for her.
While they’re dancing, Rachel kisses Mouth, who is stunned. Rachel has a bittersweet expression on her face. She has to own up to him something, and she knows he won’t like her anymore, that’s why she kissed him. It turns out she is the one who unleashed the times capsule. Mouth says she was right; he does not like her anymore. Then he walks away.
Rachel looks very sad. Poor Reckless Red Hair.
Lucas catches up with Brooke. He tells her it means the world to him that she stood by him even though he seemed careless and mean.
Haley and Nathan decide to move back in together. Since Brooke lost her roommate, Larry offers her to move in with him and Peyton. Brooke accepts happily.
Lucas decides to attend Jimmy’s funeral, despite Karen’s disapproval.
