Season 5 Episode 5 I Forgot to Remember to Forget Recap

This is the placeholder for tonight’s live-blogging of episode 5 I Forgot to Remember to Forget.

Opens with Lucas at his laptop. Lindsey walks in and asks about the writing. He says slow. Lindsey shows him a basketball picture she found. She says she loves his smile and has never seen him so happy. She wonders if he was happier then. He says Lindsey, you make me so happy. She asks you wouldn’t change anything? He says no. They kiss.
Flashback to Whitey talking to his college team and tells them to go home and get some rest. Lucas talks to Whitey afterwards and says he’s going to stay and watch some tape but Whitey won’t let him. He says “and no long distance cyber chats with long-distance blondie.”
Nathan and Haley are outside with Jamie. Jamie says ball and they are all surprised .
Haley and Jamie are at home in the middle of the night. Lucas walks in and says he couldn’t sleep. He tells Haley Peyton isn’t coming. He asks if she misses the past. She says sometimes, especially when she sees him trying to be a writer. He says all he has is rejection letters. She tells him thanks for living with them and helping with Jamie. Lucas says goodnight and goes to bed.
Nathan is practicing at the court. He says he wants to be seen as a real player not as a points shaver. It cuts to the game. Lucas is coaching and getting mad. The game is close. Nathan dunks the ball. Then gets a three pointer. You see Haley and Jamie in the stands. They take a timeout Whitey tells Lucas to take over because he’s ready. Whitey goes to the locker room. Lucas gives the play. Nathan makes the last second shot and they win…and the crowd goes wild Whitey is smiling from the locker room. Lucas watches NHJ and is obvious sad Peyton isn’t there. Flashback, flashback to the last game where Lucas says he wants Peyton with him. Back to the game and he’s still watching NHJ in slow mo.

Opens back at the locker room. Whitey is congratulating him and says it’s his final game. The school has agreed to let Lucas coach even though he’s a student. Lucas asks what he’s going to do. He says go to games and yell at the coach. A reporter is asking Nathan questions. He’s saying the most important thing is his family. Lucas says the bus is leaving. Nathan says it’s the first time no one asked about point shaving. Someone outside gives him a hard time about point shaving. Nathan goes up to him and grabs his neck. Lucas pulls him off. On the bus, Lucas opens a message from Peyton on his iPhone and she says to listen to a song when they win. Whitey and Nathan are talking. Whitey says to be careful since they are so many eyes on him. He says it won’t go away by playing better, he has to live better. Nathan says he’s right. Whitey says he doesn’t want him to regret his past because they know where that leads. Nathan says Dan.
Whitey goes up to talk to Lucas. Lucas asks where the night ranked. Whitey says #3. #2 was his championship and #1 Camilla agreed to marry him. Lucas looks at the picture of Peyton. Lucas says they are more important things in life than basketball. Whitey agrees. Lucas asks Whitey to drop him off at the airport. Whitey says he’d be happy to.

Peyton is at the copier that is not working. She gets a call. It’s Lucas. She says she’s been trying to get in touch with him. He asks what she’s wearing. She says she can’t do that right now. He tells her what she’s wearing. He walks in the room. Peyton says Luke! They kiss. (YES!!!!) He walks around with her while she puts mail out. He asks why he puts up with them. They stop at someone’s office and she says the girl used to work in the mailroom. He says they have reservations for dinner. She says It’s so good to see you. Bye. They’re at the dinner and Peyton is late. He’s in a suit. He says something about his rejection letters. She says the book is good, he’s going to get a deal. Peyton starts telling him about the bands she’s heard lately. She says enough about her, he wants to know about the game. He tells her about the coaching job. She says it sounds very adult. He says he got the song she sent. She says she made him a mix. Lucas says he got her something too. Peyton gets a call from work. Lucas says not to answer it but Peyton says she has to. Peyton is being called into work. Lucas asks her to stay for dessert. She says let’s have dessert at my place. He says how about at our room? She says you didn’t have to do that. They say they’ll meet at 11. Back at the room it’s after midnight and Peyton isn’t home. He finally goes to sleep and the ring falls out of his hand and onto the floor.

Peyton comes in and Lucas wakes up. Peyton says Luke what is this. She has the ring in her hand. She says she was sitting there thinking how much she loves him. Lucas says he wanted it as a surprise but…he gets on his knee and says “Peyton, I love you and I want us to be together forever. I know it’s a bit sudden, ok? But yesterday was a great day but I was sitting on the bus and I realize that none of my great days of my life matter without you. You’re the one I want next to me when my dream comes true and you’re the one I want next to me if they don’t. As long as I have you, nothing else matters.” Peyton says it’s not that simple. He says we’ll figure it out. Peyton says she doesn’t want to go back to Tree Hill and LA is her home. Lucas says he’ll move to LA. She says no, Whitey and Nathan need them and she doesn’t want him to be mad at her for it. She says they’re only 19. He says NH were only 19. Peyton says in another year. Lucas argues they’ve only seen each other 3 times and they’ve already grown apart and who knows where they’ll be in a year. She says she’s not saying no she’s saying later. Lucas is hurt and tries to pull away. Peyton says she loves him. Lucas says it’s not enough. They say the conversation is going to end with goodbye. Peyton says they’re dream will come true. In the morning Lucas is watching Peyton sleep. He kisses her on the forehead, leaves a CD, says Bye Peyton and leaves. Peyton wakes up and calls for Luke. She finds the CD labeled Songs to Make you think of me.
Lucas is at the airport and says he needs to leave earlier than planned. Lucas answers the phone. It’s Lindsey. She introduces herself and says her and her boss love his book and want to publish it. She wants him in New York. The lady says it must be a dream come true. Lucas looks in his phone to call Peyton but doesn’t. Peyton is at work crying.

Lucas is at a party with Lindsey. They want to change the title. Lindsey says the title is fine. Lucas says she seems young. Lindsey says him too. Lindsey says his novel is her first. It has truth and soul but it has work to do. Probably 6 months. He says it will probably feel like they’re married. Lindsey says it’s a joke. Lucas says thank you for changing my life. Lindsey says it was all you. Lindsey asks the Luke and Peyton in the novel? He says no. She says, I was rooting for them. A lady comes up and says someone from Tree Hill is there. It’s Brooke. They go to her house. She’s talking about her parents and she can’t believe he’s going to published. He says what about her clothes. She says good but Brooke says her mom says they can go bigger…couture clothing, magazine. She says she’s scared for her mom to take over and it won’t be hers. Lucas complains about Lindsey wanting to change his novel. Brooke asks how Peyton is. Lucas says he asked her to marry him and she said no and they broke up. Brooke is shocked. He said she never saw the ring. Brooke says how is that? Lucas shows her what happened and Victoria walks in shocked that it looked like he was proposing.
Brooke and Peyton are then at dinner. Lucas gives Brooke a hard time about not staying in touch with Peyton. Brooke says they need to get drunk, really, really drunk. She says first, let’s see the ring. She says it’s really really nice. A woman walks by and says congratulations. They go with it and get free champagne and drinks all over midtown. They are then walking and the carriage ride guy offers a ride. They say sure, it is our engagement night. He says then it’s free. Brooke says, it’s gold! The guys asks about their future and they go on about a family, work, vacations. The guy says love is what it’s all about.

Brooke is helping Lucas into the hotel room.  Brooke says she’s going to help him.  Lucas says she could stay.  Lucas kisses Brooke.  Brooke pulls back and says that’s the second stupid thing he’s done in the past 24 hours.  Brooke says he needs to go out there and be the best writer he can be and if she comes back to him, then it’s meant to be.  Brooke says she’s leaving and he probably won’t be seeing her.  Brooke says Lucas Scott is going to change the world and he doesn’t even know it yet.  Lucas stares at the ring in his hand and closes it.
Brooke is back at home.  Victoria is waiting on her and threatens her not to marry him.  Brooke says it was just a joke.  Brooke asks about love..isn’t that the key?  V. says in case you forgot it’s clothes over bro’s.  Brooke says she’s in with all V’s plans.  V is happy and promises they’ll have everything they’ve ever wanted.  She says to call her Victoria, the Mom thing makes me sound too old.
NHJ at home..Jamie is playing ball.  Nathan thanks Haley for supporting him.  He says he loves her.  She says I love you too and she’s so proud of him.  Nathan says nothing is going to stop them.  They 3 of them play.
Peyton is at work and has a conference door shut in her face.  Lucas has a bamboo plant to give Lindsey and says it’s for good luck.  Lindsey says she’ll be right back.  Lucas gets the ring out of his pocket and looks at it.
Back to current time and he puts the ring in his top drawer.  He looks at the basketball picture.  Lindsey walks in and says are you still walking down memory lane.  Lindsey says  you should write about it.  Lucas says he’s going to take a walk.
Haley is at home.  She’s putting out his trophies because she’s proud of him.  He says he’s ashamed of who he has been the past few months.  Nathan says he knows they’re not the same but they’ll get there.  They kiss.
Lucas is at Brooke’s house looking for Peyton.  Lucas asks if she remembers the night.  He says do you wonder if we chose the right path.  Brooke says we wouldn’t have so many great things in our life.  Lucas says yeah.  Brooke asks if she should tell Peyton he was there.  She stops Lucas from walking out and he says you still love Peyton don’t you.  Lucas says I have to get back to Lindsey.  Lucas walks out and Brooke says this is going to get interesting.

Home
