Episode 13 Echoes, Silence, Patience and Grace Reaction

Tonight was one of the best episodes ever. I missed the interaction between the group but tonight was a fan.tastic episode. Really. Almost like one big counseling episode but it was great to hear stuff finally come out. So many quotable conversations tonight. Big kuddos to Mark tonight. Loved, loved, loved how the scenes meshed together and the interaction was there with the dialogue even if it wasn’t in the classic sense.

So let’s see…there were basically six things going on and I’ll comment on each.

Dan/Sam - Definitely the least interesting of the episode and I really could have done without these scenes. What did we learn except Dan feels like his debt is paid and he loves his family. Nothing really interesting there.

Peyton/Max – It was good to see her work out some of her feelings. I’m glad she admitted how she didn’t really want Lucas and Lindsey together and when she said she wanted them to be happy she REALLY wanted Lucas and her to be happy. I like how she digs deep for patience and grace to let Lucas be happy and yet still admits how hard it is to have such character. It was so good to see Max. Mark does a great job. It feels like a genuine conversation between old friends and I love that.

Brooke - Brooke was looking pretty bad there in the evaluation. I think the case worker was asking the right questions though and on the surface it does appear that Brooke is not ready for children. And honestly, I don’t think she is. The whole speech was great and yeah, she’s ready to love someone but really I don’t know if she’s ready to be a single mom. Trust me, even as a mother with a husband to help it’s hard work and I think there’s a little bit of fantasy there. And maybe it’s ok. It is a tv drama and I can get into the whole suspension of disbelief thing and really, her speech at the end was good and I think probably convinced Patricia to let her have a baby.

Andy/Lucas – Ugh. Obviously if you haven’t figured it out, I’m a Leyton fan still so it was hard to see Andy trying to convince Lucas to go to New York. Although I have to say it was GREAT to see Andy back and especially liked to see a mentor figure back in Lucas’s life. And Lucas’ comment about the comet was HILARIOUS. We seriously rewound it 3 times to laugh.

Lucas/Lindsey – I was literally yelling at Mark at the end of their scene together. Lucas’ speech to Lindsey was SOOOO sweet. Loved it. It *almost* made me like Lucas and Lindsey together. But I was lovin’ that Lindsey wouldn’t give in. But, man, that speech was good. I loved especially the part where he said she had to be the one to edit it so they could have late night and arguments and it’d be like they were married. Gosh, break my heart, Mark, that was perfect! That is the real Lucas I don’t think we’ve seen all season. We got serious-face, squinty-eyed, poetic Lucas tonight. Yay!

And finally the stars of tonight’s episode…

Nathan/Haley – Wow, Nathan and Haley rocked this episode. The guest counselor was fantastic. I loved her accent, the interaction between the three was authentic and genuine and natural and just great acting on all three parts.

Nathan was just HOT tonight. Hot, hot, hot. I know people were already complaining about Haley looking less than cool but after seeing the episode, I kind of think that was the point. They were trying to show that she had gotten away from the young, hip musician/mother she is and she needs to remember to get back to that. As the counselor says, she IS young.

I loved Nathan talking about basketball and really letting his guard down to talk about how much he missed it. I loved the part where the counselor asks if faced with the same dreams, could they treat each other differently and they say yes and then hold hands. Fabulousness. And of course, their last scene when she asks Nathan to not-sleep with her..when he tells her how overwhelmingly kind and sexy she is. And of course the kiss and everything, it was just so wonderful. I expect lots of clips, quotes and avatars and all kinds of stuff from that scene. Best Naley scene this season by far.

So it looks like Naley is back on track which is great. Brooke looks like she’s set to get a baby. Peyton is still trying to move on and Lucas is in holding pattern with Lindsey. Who knows what will happen there. Well, I sorta know since I read spoilers, but just speaking from this episode…lol. Anyway, FANTASTIC episode tonight..I’m not sure how many more times I can say I loved it or something about it.

Anyone with me? What’d you think?

You’re welcome! I may be in the minority, but I liked tonight’s episode!

Tonight’s episode was a pretty great one, lotsa talking, but it was all needeed. What’s really upsetting me is Lucas and how he’s always fighting for everyone else but Peyton. Brooke and Lindsey both get these amazing speeches so that he can win them back and I really can’t ever remember him doing something like that for Peyton. That make me sooo mad and sad very sad.

  4. Amy Says:

I am SO ready for Lucas to fight for Peyton. I wanted that speech to Lindsey to be to Peyton so badly.

  5. NC Says:

It wasn’t my favorite episode, but I enjoyed it and I agree that it was a necessary episode for getting some stuff straightened out. Yeah, I was originally one of the people who complained about Haley’s wardrobe :P I also figured maybe they were trying to show that she’s sort of forgotten herself a bit… but I really hated what she was wearing today! Maybe I just don’t like polka dots.

I definitely loved the voiceovers at the end… and it seems like Peyton is finally at a point in her life where she is finding grace but I agree with other Leyton fans! I wanted to see Lucas fight for Peyton, but I understand he needs to go through the motions with Lindsey first, and he probably truly is heartbroken over her. After all, he DID say “I do.”

I hope to see the main characters interacting more in the next episode after this!

Does anyone know the name of the song that’s playing at the very end of the episode?

  7. Sara Says:

i honestly loved the episode because of Nathan and Haley. Thier counselling sesseion were amazing and so heart felt oh and the make out scene at the end just made me smile from ear to ear :)

Hey… i’m from the UK.. and i’m OTH crazy… 513 was sooo amazing… the whole naley scenes were just great. i love them together… the whole Lucas/Lindsey/Peyton stuff annoys me… just becasue she said no to his proposal did not mean she loved him anyless… bring back Leyton… Season 5 rocks….

  9. Morgan Says:

I thought this episode was GREAT but I do have a complaint however…

How come when Peyton said she wasn’t ready to get married Lucas walked out right away and wrote them having a future together off right away. But Lindsay runs out on him at the altar and after a month he goes up to New York to tell her that he won’t stop waiting for her!

I didn’t like that at all. But I did love the episode, especially Naley and the flashback Peyton had of Lucas from the 1st episode.

  10. Amy Says:

Morgan, very true!!! I hadn’t thought of that. OK, now I’m not very happy with Lucas!

  11. Jazmin Says:

I agree with Morgan… it’s extremely annoying that he gave up on Peyton when they have so much more history than him and Lindsay. She never said noooo she said not yet, and he couldve waited. I think Lucas’s fear when that happened was that he had barely spoken to Peyton that year she was in LA and he feared her never wanting to return to Tree Hill but come on Lucas, Falling in love with your editor???? Thats just too cliche. I want to see Leyton back… did he forget that she went to the book signing??? he called her and she went! He said it best himself.. “The one I want standing next to me when my dreams come true, is you”. SO GO GET PEYTON BACK!!!!!!!!!
As for Haley and Nathan… HE IS HOT!!!!!! and that scene was incredibly hot!! it’s about time they get their romance back. YAY nate and Hales :)

  12. NICOLE Says:

I thought the episode was a little slow… and a lot of talking. But, I think it was a great bridge for everyone, yk? It seemed like a cleansing episode, we needed to see all of that, the talking everything out, the big emotions being laid on the table, etc. in order to move on to the future. It had been 4 weeks… and that was a great way to get us caught up, and get us back in the ‘know’ so that we can see how Lucas is gonna get Lindsay back, and Peyton is going to learn to be patient, and how Naley is going to come together, while learning to be themselves again.

It was slow… but I liked it.

  13. salma Says:

i also thought the episode was a little slow but good, but i think it set they way for things to happen. I’m pretty sure he was heartbroken over lindsey, i mean he said i do w/o hesitation! poor peyton, i’m a strong brucas fan but i really like peyton. i didn’t expect lucas speech at the end, but it was soo cute i wish it wasn’t for lindsey bc in the end we all know hes gonna either end up with brooke or peyton. And i think brooke still likes him “looking for love somewhere else”. But i don’t think we can tie in the whole high school scene of why leyton should be bc together bc they already happend. so know its all based on those 4 years afterwards. I LOVED nathan and haley scenes hotttt! and wat is dan up to?

  14. kate Says:

i know that what i’m gonna say will be sad for me and the rest of Leyton’s fans.

we need to look at that from another side. maybe lucas love lindsay…

he gave up at peyton, he said he would wait but he didn’t, so maybe he wasn’t in love, maybe she’s his best friend, but not love…

and he went after linsady, he proposed to her, he said I DO, so maybe HE DOES???

maybe they weren’t meant to be together?

i just wish that someday peyton will be happy without him, beacouse if he doesn’t love her she needs to find someone, maybe jake, who will love her and never won’t gave up on her, and if he loves her he is such a dick and idiot.

i’m just so mad at lucas because of spoiler of episode 5.17, i mean that thing he’ll say to her. HOW COULD HE SAY i hate to HIS BEST FRIEND/LOVE????? i hate him for this.

  15. kasia Says:

    his LOVE.. i think.. :(
but we have a hope, right?

  16. Betty Says:

So is there any new spoilers for the next episode?

  17. Amy Says:

Betty, not sure what you’ve seen, but this is all we have:

    http://www.onetreehillblog.com/season-5-spoilers/season-5-514-spoilers/

  18. Betty Says:

Yeah, I have read the spoilers more than once but I didn’t know if there was anything new. So what is the deal with Lucas who is he going to be with?

  19. Amy Says:

I think they are setting us up for a Leyton reunion in the finale. Episode 17 will be hard to get through though.

  20. Betty Says:

I thought he said he hated her in that one?

  21. Amy Says:

yeah, that’s what i mean. i think he says he hates her in 17 but then there going to surprise us with a twist and they’ll get back together or at least lead us to believe that.

  22. Betty Says:

Well I don’t want them to be together. I want Lucas and Brooke to get together

  23. Amy Says:

I know a lot of people love them together but from what I can see of Season 5, it’s not looking hopeful.

  24. Betty Says:

Well you never know with this show!! So what do you think is going to happen with Brooke and the baby? I know she gets one but who is going to be the dad. There was talk that she was going to ask Lucas. And she even told me she wanted one before she told Peyton.

  25. Betty Says:

I mean she told Lucas before she told Peyton. Sorry!

  26. Amy Says:

Very true…you never know. I haven’t seen that she actually looks for a dad for the baby.

  27. Betty Says:

Well I just really want Lucas and Brooke to be together. I also like Lucas and Lindsey to. Lucas is just so hot.

  28. Amy Says:

I can definitely agree on that one!!!

  29. Betty Says:

He is there any news on when they will start filming season 6?

  30. Amy Says:

    not that i’ve heard.

  31. Betty Says:

Have you heard of when season 6 is going to start on TV?

  32. Amy Says:

No :( Not too much info on Season 6 yet.

  33. Betty Says:

I really want to go to Wilmington but I won’t be able to make it before they stop filming season 5 so that is why I was asking. If I would go I would go like the first of August.

  34. Layla Says:

For me, there were a lot of boring moments in this episode. The only thing that kept me from falling asleep was Nathan and Haley ’cause their scenes were so great. They’ve been needing to just sit down and talk about what’s going on in their heads and hearts for so long now and the chemistry between those two is so incredible to watch. Plus, Joy owns every scene she’s in.

  35. Danika Says:

Best episode so far.. only reason was how much screen time Naley got which was probably 20 minutes (or it seemed like that i’m probably over exaggerating)

  36. Lisa Says:

I really LOVED tonights episode…….just so honest and true of where they are in their lives and where they were before. I grew up with these characters and now am 26 going through exactly what they are and I feel like I was right there with them. It really touched me, especially with Nathan and Haley, who are my favorite couple, I actually cried at the end….I just wanted to see something good come from all they have worked to keep together. And that Nathan mentioned about the first season when he went to haley for forgiveness and it was the night he fell in love with her…and that he admitted maybe he liked the nanny flirting because she doesn’t look at him the way she used to. its true and I needed an explaination too from him..I wanted to know why?? this may sound crazy but for those who have been with this show since the beginning…they would understand!!

  37. Amy Says:

Lisa, loved your comment. Right on.

  38. Adrie Says:

You wrote Lucas/Peyton instead of Lucas/Lindsey . . . lol maybe as a Leytoner you wished it was an LP scene. I know as a Brucaser I wished it was a BL scene.

  39. Amy Says:

Haha, Adrie, I sure did. Just fixed it.

  40. Amanda Says:

I hated linsday i’m so glad she’s gone I hope she stays awat.. but i think thats just because i love peyton.. i’m also curious about nannie carrie.. was that the last we’ll ever see of her? and my gosh i cant believe someone would consider giving brooke a kid.. does that seem like a terrible idea to anyone else?
