Episode 17 Hate is Safer Than Love Reaction
That was a FANTASTIC EPISODE.
It was great seeing the basketball again. I didn’t think I missed it but I did. It was wonderful seeing Skills, Nate and Luke (and even Jamie) at the court again. And I love the happy Q on the court. Great to watch.
Brooke was great with Angie. It was nice to see her in mother-mode. But what was up with the first name of the Dr? Why was she so insistent on knowing that? But Ethan..that’s a great name! Brooke, sweetie, go for it! Forget that cutie bartender!
The Deb and Skills thing might be the most awkward, hand-over-eyes, cringe-worthy moment I think I may have ever seen. I may have nightmares about that. Wow.
Why do I feel like evil Dan is coming back out again? That tone he had with the nurse made me very uneasy and brought back a lot of evil Dan memories.
Naley is again being ignored again. Jamie was as cute as can be though. The knock-knock joke, walking off the court with Q, and of course the scene with Dan. He always steals his scenes.
Wow, finally some EMOTION from Lucas. I think I actually liked angry Lucas vs. whatever emotional void he’s been in this entire season. It was good to see him actually, you know, SAY SOMETHING. I think he FINALLY got that Lindsey is gone. I don’t believe for a minute that Lindsey is actually dating someone but as long as Lucas is convinced.
But y’all, that I Hate You hurt. Like HURT. That look on his face and tone in his voice was scathing. Awful. Hurtful. I don’t think that really meant I love you in the least. Maybe in a weird way it was…he hates her because he loves her and Lindsey realized it and ruined something good but wow, I know Peyton has got to be hurting. Her reaction was priceless you could feel the wind blow out of her chest.
But WHERE WAS THE BEDROOM SCENE???? Is that really for the finale?
What a great episode though! What’d ya’ll think?

i agree it was fantastic!! in previous episodes, naley has completely been ignored, but at least now they were acknowledged, and at the end it was really cute. better then nothing. im so glad lindsay and lucas are done. in the promo for the finale, i dont understand when lucas says i have two tickets to las vegas?? whattt?? watch it be a call to brooke ahahahahaha!

he’ll probably take Brooke as friends– because she had to let go of Angie…and he has to let go of Lindsey. I can’t imagine them being together ya know? I dunno if he’ll take Peyton, BUT I just know they’ll end up together.

OK I JUST FINISHED!! (I TAPE IT FIRST NO COMMERCIALS) omg that episode was awesome!! wtf is going on though??why are we still seeing lindsey-he said i hate you with lots of anger sounded pretty true…i feel very upset right now i cant even explain!! maybe brooke will date the doctor!!!three way call come on why did they have to add all three!!! Yes, it was great. It looks like they are going to be setting up some Naley stuff for next season – Haley dealing with balancing her music and her family. I mean it looks like it will work out now but it could get difficult… especially now that “evil Dan” seems like he is creeping back into the picture… I’m a little disappointed because I was starting to like Dan. He’s a great, complex character – he’s totally mean but when he loves, he loves deeply. *Too* deeply. I think he really wants to live now and will do anything so that he can have more time with Jamie. I think there will be some conflict because in TV land, a happy family is a boring family.
And yes, I totally agree – nice to see some emotion finally, Luke! I hate that he’s hurting but I hate that he hurt Peyton too. The whole thing with those two is so messed up, going back to the proposal and everything after that. But ever since the beginning, Lucas has never quite known what he wanted with women. I’m a pretty die-hard Leyton-er though so I’ll be rooting for them!
I am curious about that Vegas thing though….
And YES the doctor seems so much better for Brooke than Owen! Brooke and Owen were cute and flirty but I think the doctor seems like he could really open her up and finally allow her to show how capable she is of love and I think that’s truly the kind of person she needs in her life – Angie brought a bit of that to her – she obviously grew extremely attached to her – but I think the doc’s words were very sincere, and true, and exactly what Brooke needed to hear.

OMG did anyone else want to slap Lucas for putting that look on Peytons face? GRRRR lucas you are such an idiot………and i am guessing that he will ask brooke or lindsey cause that seems the most plausible right now. I cant see how it would be peyton after that episode! Great, just great another 5 months before we get some, if any, peyton lucas action!
also I have been thinking on the whole peytons ghost thing. What if it is her alter image who shows up after the IHY thing and boo hoos her and gives her a hard time for giving up on lucas. THis could explain the whole painting the comet thing after lucas was such an a**. I still dont think that we will know who he calls until the season opener. And I bet it will be Brooke, there is no way after he has been such a butt to peyton that he is going to ask her to marry him. It could also be a last ditch effort with Lindsey too. I really liked the chemistry between Brooke and the doc. I am just so sick of the whole triangle story line…I just wish he would pick someone already so everyone can move on!!!
I think that the best ending to the whole thing is it being Peyton that he calls, she accepts and then they actually do it. then they could spend the whole next season having issues and having to work at their marriage. Then it gives the writers freedom to wrap up the others characters lives before seasons end. I mean as much as i love the idea of peyton and lucas together, I want to see closure for Brooke and all the other characters too. If they spend all next season with lucas picking his soulmate(peyton) then how are they going to wrap up the rest of the cast?

Sara, I think we are going to see Peyton throwing those baloons off the roof of CB. Haley told her that her and Lucas used to do it to blow off steam or get out their frustration, lol.
I would not be surprised it we see those promo scenes in the flashbacks of that night. Maybe when Lucas talks to Haley about it?
I could be wrong, but I don’t think it is going to be a Lucas/Brooke ending. I think it is either Peyton or Lindsey or Mark could fool everyone and it could be Skills going to Vegas with Lucas.

Hey though…in those episode stills for 5.18 the picture of Lucas by himself is on the edge of Peytons pool table in her office. Look closely and you’ll see it.
I hope to god he realizes he still loves her.

although right now i am leaning towards team NOCUS….meaning lucas ends up all alone cause he is has been such a butt to all of them. I mean poor peyton, she has gotten like 5 minutes of on air happiness with lucas in 5 years, the rest of the time he has spent breaking her heart, and brookes and lindseys!! UH! We finally got L&P together last season and then they didnt have anymore good scenes after that. Then we think…cool this season is going to start with some L&P time..but surprise,,no dice!

Okay here’s what I think, being the HUGE leyton fan that I am. I think the promo teaser is going to be something Lucas remembers next episode, which is when he CALLS Peyton at the airport telling her to come wit hhim. I heard that 518 is Michaela (Lindsey)’s last episode, and Joe (Owen) is coming back season 6 so they’re not doing a Lucas/Brooke ending. It’s Peyton. Plus, the season 6 spoilers say that Lucas/Peyton are reunited season 6.

Sara–check the one of Lucas by himself under the 5.18 stills. He has a smirk on his face. If you open the big one you can see the wood and green and the background is Peytons office. Look at the stills of Peyton and Haley and you’ll see the same pool table/background.

I am so for lucas and peyton, i just meant that they havent got the happy couple time as much as the other couples on the show. Just when the finally get together and are a happy couple,(foe prom) we dont see them together for a couple episodes. Then this season roles around and we are again with no happy lucas peyton couple. I realize their love is always there but lucas does a great job of shoving it aside when he is with someone else.

No way i watch this show because of lucus and peyton. He dosent hate peyton he lovers her as much as he wants to let go. There going to be together regardless. Peyton is a great actor best yet. i know that mark and the other writers think that it would be boring with them together and happy, but there are so many fun and funNy things they could do with their storyline. I mean I LOVED the whole cookie dough scene from the past and that was a time when they were happy. I didnt stop watching then…it made me want to watch more because we got so little of those moments with them…

Sara the cookie dough episode is by far one of my all time favorites.
I think last season they found a way to make Lucas and Peyton far from boring and kept them intersting together and seprate. I believe their popularity and their chemistry would be an asset to season 6.

lol, fashion scrubs line…actually didn’t she make a comment about what they wear in one of the previous episodes? I think in Season 4 she did–lol. I think its time that both Lucas and Peyton are happy together, and the drama for season 6 revolves around Brooke settling down with a baby, Nathan and Haley making their comebacks, Mouth and his job…that kind of thing. I don’t think Brooke would do that…I can’t imagine that happening again you know?

I could not find that post.
Do you think that she is talking to herself about what to do about Lucas? That is a good theory but I also have another.
I think she finds something from Ellie (similar to when she found the letter about her having a brother). The only reason I think this, is because I recall a conversation that Ellie and Peyton had about the Cure Album and how it changed her life. I don’t know why else Peyton would spend (what in real time would be forever, lol) not only painting a crashing comet, but the ENTIRE lyrics to this love song. This is Peyton’s way of telling Lucas how she feels (what Lindsey told her to do). I don’t know if it will change Lucas’ mind, but I think Peyton is laying it all on the line and telling him that he can hate her, never want to see her again, move on, but no matter what she will always love him. I think this is meant to show him that he has had a GREAT IMPACT on her life like she has been for him.
I think their story is far from over (just a guess), but I am the enternal optimist. If you ask me, this entire season has been about Peyton and Lucas’ love story and how powerful their connection has been and continues to be.

This was such a great episode! Lucas was so sad in the locker room, but it was great to see him & Nathan talking like that. When Lucas told Peyton “IHY”, it reminded me of the old Nathan. And why do Nathan & Haley seem so distant? I mean, yes they have been married for a few years, but they are a young couple, supposedly in love; they need to act like it. Can’t wait for next week’s ep!

basically what i said before was that I thought peytons ghost ends up being her alter ego. I think she comes back and gives peyton a hard time about giving up on lucas after the ihy and that after a lengthy arguement with herself, she paints the comet on the court to show she isnt giving up.

if you were lucas, how could you look at the painting of the comet and not love peyton all over again? I mean we have already seen that he still loves her with the whole kiss before he proposes to lindsey fiasco. she may have kissed him first, but he KISSED her back and he meant it. I think that all this time he has been scared of loving her and losing her again and the comet is going to make him admit that. She paints a whole basketball court for him. Even after everything he has done to hurt her, she does that for him. He better not blow it off or i will lose all respect for him

The entire season I have felt that Lucas was STILL in Love with Peyton. Even in tonight’s episode when he saw her at the hospital, it was so obvious what he feels for her runs deep. He is totally trying to run from what is in front of him because he does not want to get hurt. What he feels for Lindsey can not wreck him the way his Love for Peyton can. He is not ready to allow himself to feel that way again.

I think that lucas and brooke are kinda moving towards the whole best friends kinda love…kinda like with haley and lucas. I dont think that brooke would go down that road again knowing how peyton feels about lucas and how lucas feels about her. I just dont think that she would want to get hurt like that again. I know I wouldnt.

Hi, I am back!
I was over at the CW website looking at the episode stills for next week.
Lucas definitely goes to the studio but I think he may see Peyton but he actually talks to Haley.
There is a picture of Peyton with Haley and Peyton is holding an album. I enlarged the picture and I am 99% sure the album is “Disintegration” by The Cure. I think this is Ellie’s message to Peyton and the “LoveSong” that Peyton writes on the RC is from this album. Ellie and Peyton talked about this album before she passed away.
Just thought it was interesting.

i think mark is trying to throw everything at leyton this season that hes putting there love threw hell and back so next season hes goin to have them reunite to show that there love can make it threw anything and sara that ghost thing is a really good point it makes sense to me and that would explain peyton from having a breakdown to writing on the river court now that u mentioned that alterego thing u gave me a idea that it could be a image or dream of ellie and that would set up the rivercourt thing aswell or a talk with haley or brooke would set it up aswell and it wouldnt make sense to have her write that on the court then have the break down that would just be weird and fell out of place or at least to me so whatever news from the ghost in the past would most likely be someone telling her to stand up for what she loves or something along those lines hmm this is a long shot but it could even be keith kinda like how he appeared to lucas after the heart attack thats a long shot but its a thought and for the whole brook and lucas going to vegas together in a pervous blog i couldnt think of a good reason why it wouldnt be her but it just hit me and its actually simple theres noway brooke would go to vegas with lucas after he said ihy to peyton cause in my opininon brooke would be pissed off after hearng that and even if she didnt here about it i still doubt if the writers want to keep this strong breyton friendship goin then being the good friend brooke wouldnt go cause everyone thinks of two things about vegas elouping and cashinos so in rl situition no best frined would go to vegas with the person there friend is in love with if she didnt hear about it during the next episode it be alittle to weird and not really good writing for her not to hear about it at all haley heres about which makes sense cause there friends if u ask me anyone of them skills nathan haley brooke would get mad at lucas for saying ihy to peyton but brooke is peytons best friend and last season they promised to never let there friendship get broken up again which makes me doubt brucas even further as for the whole jake thing once again its possible but highly unlikely theres not much they can do at this point with that character after closing it in season 3 it would be just repative it be like bringing back the brucas leyton triangle again also brucasfan were did u here about him returning i couldnt find anything about it and about the whole the only reason he has bee gone for the past 2 years is because they gave him his own show while i i do respect ur opinions about brucas and what u see this as or that as but that comment came across more as fanfiction or a bad rumor maybe u didnt mean it like that but the way u worded it sure did any in my opinion the whole jake cha awhil i liked his cha i think there was only so much that they could do with it and it wasnt going to last just like lindsey is this season im sorry if this makes u mad and in sorry if i misunderstood it but thats just how i felt it said. as for the whole ihy while i lost alot of respect for lucas saying it and seeing peytons face would have destryoed me if i said it to a girl i knew and she reacted the same way i can kinda understand were hes coming from after peyton said someday and lucas pride and himself were hurt i thik lindsey just happended cause she easyed the pain the the ihy came from the fact that his shield is now gone and he cant hide from his feelings for peyton so in away he trys to run from it again by saying ihy hence the title hate is safer then love also i think it was more along of the lines that she was the only person he saw after he got drunk so i think part of it was like she was the first person he could blame like wrong place wrong time thing. and as for the whole call to vegas thing i doubt it be any of the 3 girls i think thats just misleading just like this last episodes preview was i think its also to draw in all fanbases and its said that skills is suppose to get caught with deb so i think he runs away to vegas with lucas to escape nathans wrath ^^

I love Lucas and peyton together. I feel bad that Lucas is sad and mad. I dont think it was all peyton she not the one who wrote the book or stop the wedding, even if she wanted to, I believe she wants lucas to be happy if its not her then yeah its should be with lindnesy. Peyton Kinda gave Lindnsey the cold shoulder at first but she tried to get along. / you guys know Jake well i wish the actor comes back and go back with peyton , while Lucas is away on his trip in vegis. It would be cute and Lucas and Lindsey will get back together, but peyton and lucas have a one night stand and peyton finds out shes pregnant and she plays it as if its Jake’s baby. It would be good Drama . and lucas will start to think that the baby might be his, but peyton denies it at first but then tell lucas it could be his , but if it is she wants him to stay away.
well i think thats a awsome idea storyline.

maybe it’s crazy but I think that maybe the scene of the promo happened between the trick and the ihy scene..
and lucas is saying it because of what happened between them.
It’s possible because we don’t see when peyton takes off his clothes.. so.. maybe they’re keeping some scenes for the final episode.. like the conversation lucas-lindsay on the phone in the half game.

that episode was awesome! jamie was adorable, especially the knock-knock joke, and i loved seeing him with nathan, those two are so cute together! but i hate that naley is being totally ignored. just because they have a kid now doesn’t mean they can’t still be the naley we know and love. dan was creepy and evil when he was looking at that man in the hospital (will he return to his old ways to ensure himself a heart?) i actually liked seeing lucas angry, and i loved the basketball. i didn’t realize how much i’d missed it. i loved brooke worrying about angie like that, and the doc definitely has feelings for her. and the IHY moment…being a brucas fan, i thought i would enjoy it, but it was just MEAN!!! i actually felt bad for peyton. now i can’t wait for next week, even thought it is the finale and all we’ll have til fall. but who does lucas call????????

Highlights of this weeks episode for me was every scene Jamie was in. The scene where he found his letter to “Grandpa Dan” broke my heart :p Loved the scenes with him and Nathan…too cute!! Sophia Bush was amazing in this episode, i almost cried watching her anxiously waiting for news on Angie…Also at the hospital, Lucas’ glances to Peyton=Painful. The i hate you…don’t think I need to say anything, most of us feel the same. Oh and massive props to Mouth for sacrificing his progress at work for Lucas. I’ll probably have more to add once I’ve watched the ep again, but loved it, was an awesome episode and cant wait for next week!

Lucas is ridicoulus. Yeah, he’s heartbroken, I got that, but please? Poor Peyton, she was truly sorry there. Nathan and James were just adorable! But Naley sucked though. I need Naley, where are they?! I loved Brooke and Angie, and the doctor. Aw, I sure hope that something is going to happen between them, but I doubt that. I didn’t like the basketballmatch, so no comment, and it’s all because of Lucas. Deb and Skills, wow, didn’t see that comming! Haha, it was haliriuos!

DAMN that was very emotional episode
I enjoyed it so much. Hurtful, funny, angry and emotional moments. I was crying when Brook was crying, when she was just about to give up the baby
I also was crying when Peyton heard I Hate You moment…. Poor Peyton!!!!!!! that was such an ambushing…. it is kinda obvious from the title of the episode “Hate is safer than love” – but who could ever expect him saying i hate u!!!!!!!!
can’t wait for the season finale…. Lindsey is back?? WTF????
Deb i hilarious, but i think she is waaaay too obsessed old woman… hooking up with Skills is such a bad idea, considering he is her sons friend.
But yeah, balloon moment was also hilarious lol

i liked this episode!!!! i swear chad acted so well in this episode. BUT THEN I FEEL SO SAD FOR HIM THOUGH CAUSE OF WHAT LINDSAY DID. but then i understand lindsaY. MAYBE LUCAS’ HEART IS FOR PEYTON BUT HIS mIND FOR LINDSAY. wellll he CAN BE UNPREDICTABLE. i hated the last scene when he said he hated peytonnnn. OUCH THAT SUPER HURT!!!!
