Season 6 Episode 3 Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly. Recap

Voice-over from Sam about Quentin. Skills knocks at Lucas’ house. He asks if it’s true. Lucas says yes. Lucas invites him in.
Early morning Nathan is playing ball and leaves a voicemail on Q’s phone. Haley drives up. She walks up upset. She tells him and they hug.
Brooke is looking out from COB. She starts throwing clothes out onto the street.
Nathan, Haley and Deb are in their kitchen. Haley doesn’t know what to tell her students or Jamie. Haley says they should tell them together.
Lucas and Skills walk into the gym. Luke says they have to tell them something.
Naley go into Jamie’s room and Nathan says they have to tell him something. Nate says Q had an accident and he’s not ok. His body stopped working and he’s gone now. Gone to heaven and they can’t see him anymore. He asks if he’ll play on the Ravens. Haley says he died and he can’t play anymore. She knows he will miss him and it’s ok if it’s sad. Jamie says what about his cape. He’s going to like it, you’ll see.
Peyton walks up on people grabbing clothes off the sidewalk. She tells them no and goes in and asks Brooke what is going on. Brooke says it’s my clothes, one day sale, it’s all free. Peyton asks her to talk. Brooke says her mom is a b*tch. Brooke says she’ll need her key back too. She wants to feel safe in her house since she moved out. Brooke asks what she wants. Peyton says Q got killed last night and Lucas is a mess and she thought she’d want her to know. She walks out.
Haley walks into class. She says she doesn’t know what to say. She says if they want to talk about how they’re feeling…A boy says what’s the point? He’s gone. She says there is no point. They show his empty desk.
Carrie says she has a new plan. Jamie is going to go right to Carrie. Because Dan is dying and his last wish is to tell Jamie bye. Dan says they’ll never bring Jamie to see him since he’s a murderer. Carrie pulls out Jamie’s card and says he loves him. They’ll bring him then she’ll make it look like Dan killed whoever brings Jamie.
Luke and Skills are in the gym. Skills says he was going to tell Q how proud he was of him. He said it’s just wrong. Impossible and just wrong. Luke says he feels like he let him down. He asked him to be a good example and then he goes and gets suspended. He failed him. He has a little brother. Parents. Skills says how does a mother ever breathe again?
Jamie is looking at plays in the locker room while Nathan is cleaning out his locker. He pulls out Les Miserables. Nathan starts to cry. Jamie asks for his jersey and puts it on. Nathan hugs Jamie.
Carrie is messing with a gun. She says she got it from his beach house where there was a Suburban Filth. She says they have cute bras and she starts undressing. Dan asks why she doesn’t have her own son and Carrie says she’ll enjoy killing him.
Brooke is shooting at the firing range.
Everyone is walking into Q’s house. Jamie stays to play with Q’s little brother on the swings. He is playing basketball on a videogame. Jamie says Quentin was my friend. I’m making him a cape.
Denise, Q’s mom, introduces herself to Lucas and says she’s thankful for how he stood up for Q. He says Q liked Skills and Nathan. But mostly thank you to Haley. He always loved basketball but when she saw Q reading, it shocked her. She says you were all trying to help him live up to the greatness God gave him and you should be proud. Haley says your strength is inspiring. She says my strength is from Jesus Christ. I will miss him and I know I’ll see him again and our faith will see us through.
Jamie and Andre talk about their family. Andre says he’s not going inside it’s too sad. He asks what color the cape is. Jamie says red. Andre says cool. Haley comes to get Jamie and they say goodbye. Jamie gets Q’s jersey and takes it to Andre. Haley tells him he’s a good boy.
Haley and Nathan are at home. She says maybe Jamie shouldn’t go to the funeral. Nathan says he’s really freaked out by funerals. He tells a story about his great-grandfather’s funeral. Dan made him kiss him in his casket. Nathan says Jamie probably should sit this one out.
Deb and Skills talk. Skills feels like he’s in a dream. Deb says did they find the person responsible. Skills says no..he better get back downstairs. They hug. Deb says she’s here for him. He says you’re here, Q is gone and I’m someplace else.
Brooke is looking in her mirror where she wrote on it.
They are in the living room talking. Brooke spits out statistics about violence and says it’s offical, life sucks then you die. Jamie walks in. Brooke apologizes and walks out. Haley follows her. Brooke apologizes. She says she’s going through a lot. Angie, Victoria and then the stairs. It’s a lot. Haley says there’s a therapist that really helped her and Nathan and offers her the number. Brooke says ok. Haley says she’s sorry. The fall down the stairs must have hurt. Brooke says it all hurts.
Dan gets out of his restraints, makes it out the door and is walking through the yard and falls down. Dan looks up and there’s a grave. Carrie comes up and says get away from my son and then hits him over the head.
Haley and Nathan are looking at the memorial rock. Haley says she doesn’t know hot to handle her students. He gives her Les Mis and says you reached Quentin, reach them too. In class, she asks who Sam is and she says she’s new. She asks her to move out of Q’s desk, it’s taken.
Lucas gives a speech to the team. He says he was great and wishes he could take the pain away but he can’t. Skills says it’s ok to hurt and be angry but if it gets to be too much, come to see Luke, him or Nate. Nate says they know Q was helping him and that’s how he’s going to remember him..strong, happy and playing his game. Find your best memories and hold on to that.
Brooke walks in Luke’s house and calls for Peyton. She’s holding a box. She says she’s trying to stay busy. Brooke gives her key back and apologizes. Peyton says she has something for Brooke. It’s all her clothes folded on Luke (and Peyton’s) bed. Brooke says you should keep them. Peyton says life’s too short to be miserable. Don’t let the bitterness change who she is.
Haley speaks to her students. She says she said there was no point but it’s not true. She should have said she doesn’t know. She once sat where they were and when it happens she still wonders just like they do. She tells them to put their books away and take out paper. Sam asks why and Haley says because it’s a literature class and that’s what they do. She says archaeologist most often find stories from people that have been gone for years. They wanted to know what’s the point and they wanted us to know they were here. They told their stories and tried to make sense out of their world. And that’s what they’re going to do. She wants them to write anything they know about Quentin Fields. If they didn’t know, then write what you think the point is. She sees someone wrote We will miss you Q on the desk. Haley writes He who does not reap does not see. She says it’s from Les Miserables. She walks by Sam and says nice shirt, COB right? Everyone gathers and writes on his desk.
Haley and Jamie are in Haley’s room while she gets ready. She tells him he’s going to the sitter’s. He asks about the funeral and she says they say goodbye to Q and Jamie runs out of the room.
Luke is putting on his jacket in his house and talks to Peyton. They say it’s going to be hard for Jamie. She asks about the team. Luke says it’s nice having her there. Especially now. She says it can wait. This is what a marriage is about. The good and the bad. He says you’ve done so much without saying a word and I love you. They hug.
Nathan is at Brooke’s house. She says tough day, huh? I wish there was something I could do. Nate says we were wondering if there was anything we could do for you. I’ve dealt with parent insanity. She says she’s fine, really. He says this thing with losing Q is hard and it’s going to be prominent in our lives but your problems aren’t less important if we aren’t here for you. Brooke says like I said…Nate says I hope that’s true and maybe it is and we’ve been down similar roads and we both grew into bad versions of ourselves pretty fast. She says they never gave us a chance did they? He said they didn’t know how. You made your dream happen and I almost did but when it was taken away I didn’t handle it right and if your mom tries to take your dream away I know how you feel and you can talk to me about it. I know you didn’t know Q but I know you’re thinking about everyone else. They hug.
Skills in the gym looking around crying.
Nathan and Haley start walking out and Jamie is holding his box and says Quentin was my friend and I want to say goodbye. Haley says it’s going to be really sad. J says I’m already sad. Haley says you’re right. He was your friend and you should say goodbye.
Everyone walks up to the casket at the funeral. The preacher is reading Scripture. The casket is being walked in. Deb is with Jamie. Andre waslks up and Jamie waves. Andre waves back. Jamie holds onto his box. Denise comes up and sits down.
Carrie puts Dan back and Dan says I’m sorry for your loss. Dan says you lost a son what was his name? You can’t replace him with my granson. You know he’s not coming back.
Denise cries at the funeral. Everyone looks on. Deb keeps looking at Skills and then walks over to him and hugs him. Nathan sees it and realizes they are together. The Ravens start walking in with flowers and gives them to Denise and then line up. Sam begins her voiceover again. Andre gets up and puts Q’s jersey on and gets in line with the Ravens.
Carrie walks up to her son’s grave with flowers and replaces old ones.
The funeral begins to dismiss. Jamie stays back. Brooke tells them she’ll stay with him.
The voiceover is Haley reading Sam’s writing from class.
Jamie pulls out his cape and throws it over the casket. It has a shield with a q on it. Brooke starts crying. Jamie holds her hand. Sam finishes the voiceover.

very good episode… i was surprised though… i didn’t cry at all until the very end when my eyes got a little watery. i was expecting to be crying my eyes out during the whole thing! very good though, very well written! and i was so mad at Brooke when she went off on Peyton, so i was happy when she came back and apologized! and hopefully the nanny carrie stuff will come to an end soon! and OFCOURSE… Leyton was adorable as always!

I cried when Q’s mother was talking and at the end. Maybe because I knew what was coming and the song, but the end when the song Quiet in my Town by Civil Twilight started to crest and build, it really hit home with me. And when Jamie took Brooke’s hand and she finally broke down and cried.
And what up with my new BFF Nathan. As I said in the podcast last week, he so far is my new fave. Some great stuff from him and James Lafferty.

THAT WAS THE SADDEST EPISODE IVE EVER SEEN…OMG OMG OMG WHEN Q’S BROTHER PUT HIS JERSEY ON AND STOOD IN THE LINE WITH THE OTHER PLAYERS I LOST IT AND WITH THE CAPE AT THE END I HAD THE CHILLS

I actually felt a little sick watching the whole Brooke and Nathan scene, not because it wasn’t sweet it was, but I just don’t want people to get the wrong idea. Brooke and Nathan would not make a cute couple!!!!!!!!!! Nathan belongs with Haley! I really hope Mark Schwahn doesn’t even think adding some weird sick love triangle between the three.It would not only be insulting to Nathan and Haley’s marriage but also to Haley and Brooke’s friendship!!!!

i actually have never really cared that much about Naley… call me crazy! lol and i’m probably the only one on this earth that feels this way but.. they’re just kind of boring to me, and wayyy to cheesy. so i wouldn’t really care if him and Brooke were to get involved romantically (which i KNOW they won’t). i just thought it was nice to see him and Brooke interracting and bonding for a change… we don’t see it often

this is gonna be a great season…deb went to stand by her man…i loved the nathan and brooke talk…she needed that…nathan is a good friend…lucas and peyton just awesome…and brooke and peyton…peyton is a great friend also…jamie took it the best…brooke just broke down…poor thing…cant wait until next week

I know, I have been a fan of Leyton since the pilot and I am so, so glad that they seem to have everything worked out, I just hope that they can hold onto it. Knowing Mark he’ll throw a spanner into their happy existence. They were so sweet tonight. I wish Mark would right scenes like that for Naley, they always get shortchanged.

Yeah I kinda felt awkward with the Nathan and Brooke scene, but they are all friends. It would not only be a disrespect to the Naley relationship and the Brooke and Haley friendship but also to Jamie and his relationship with Brooke if they ever went down that route. Brooke was heading into a dark place and well Nathan knows that place so it made sense. But look Haley went after her first. Nathan went to her second. Then Jamie in an indirect way got her to let it out. That’s how I saw it. Haley and Lucas always have scenes together so can’t Nathan and Brooke? Anyways I caught how proud Nathan was of Haley when Q’s mom spoke of her and how he got her to believe that she can reach her students. Also you saw how happy he was to see her in the beginning right before she told him? Mark always said Naley fans have to keep the faith.

Holy Cow!!!! That was an amazing episode! I cried like a baby the last scene. Sam’s voiceover was awesome. Her words were perfect in every sense! “On a good night they said he could fly, and now he can.” Holy crap, that just rips your heart out!!!
And yes Leyton were so sweet!

oh yeah I absolutely agree, I like seeing Nathan be there for her, I just don’t want Brathan fans to get hyped up over it. I have always had faith in the Naley relationship and will continue, I just wish that Mark would put more in for them. I mean did you see Lucas and Peyton why can’t he be like that with Nathan and Haley? And yeah it would totally be insulting to Jamie

Yeah I was wondering the same thing but Lucas and Peyton are in their honeymoon phase. I also think the focus was on how individually and as parents Q’s death affected them. I mean Peyton and Lucas weren’t even around Q the first 2 episodes so. I just saw Bethany’s interview and she said if we wanted to see more Nathan and Haley stuff write in. I saw last season lots of people were writing in.

Lucas and Peyton just reunited in a big way that’s how I think of. Leyton fans deserve that. Naley fans have seen them withstand anything. I have a feeling we’ll have more great scenes, last week was great. Mark said that they are gold. I even saw in Joy’s tv guide interview that even the other actors think the Naley relationship is special. My take on the Brooke thing is that Lucas will probably be able to get her to admit what happened to her. Every core character reached out to her today except him, so kinda makes you wonder why he hasn’t yet.

Yeah absolutely. I hope that the Scott family did help Brooke through some of her issues, but in the end I think it should be Lucas and Peyton they all have such an amazing friendship and they have really been there for each other

Ceci, i totally agree! Naley have been around forever, and we all know that Naley fans have had their fair share of sweet scenes between them. Lucas and Peyton did just get back together, after what was a really rough time apart, for both of them (and the Leyton fans). Us Leyton fans deserve some great Leyton scenes this season! And so far, Mark has definitely delivered

OMG, I CRIED THE ENTIRE SHOW. THE PART WERE Q’S LIL BRO GOT UP AND PUT HIMSELF IN THE EMPTY SPACE LEFT W/Q JERSEY WAS OMG I WAS BALLING MY EYES OUT. IT WAS JUST SO SWEET. THE ENTIRE EPS. WAS SAD BUT IT WAS BEATIFUL. ITS GOOD THAT BROOK WENT TO SAY SORRY TO PEY FOR YELLING AT HERE. CAN’T WAIT TO SEE MORE LEYTON SCENE OF COURSE AND ALSO SEEING SKILLS AND DEB RELATIONSHIP DEEPEN NOW THAT EVERYONE IS GOING TO KNOW, AND HALEY KICK CARRIE A**. I KINDA FELT SORRY FOR HER FOR A MIN. BUT THEN REMEMBER WHAT SHE IS TRYING TO DO TO JAMIE. I WISH THEY HAVE MORE LEYTON W/ JAMIE SCENE THAT WILL BE COOL. CAN’T WAIT TILL NEXT EPOSIDE.

absolutely terrific episode… so far this season has just been gold! i have to agree, the acting by everyone was amazing. and AS ALWAYS… Leyton was completely adorable! hearing them actually referring to their relationship as a marriage for the first time was awesome. “That’s what a marriage is right? the good and the bad” …loved it.

i hear ya, LeytonKillsBrucas! when i heard them comparing their relationship to a marriage, my heart just dropped! haha even during an episode as sad as this one was, you can always count on Leyton to make us smile! and i agree with what Amy said in her review… it was so cute how despite everything that was going on with Q, Lucas was still thinking about the wedding. they are just perfect, and i can’t get enough of them!

OMG the saddess episode
from beginning to end…I lost it when Jamie put the cape over Q and brooke started to cry… 
and Q’s mom thanking Lucas Skills and Haley it was so sad….it was so cute when Jamie and Q’s little brother were in the swings talking..and then when Jamie gave him the jersey…Mark certainly knows how to bring on the water works 
I hope the 2 kids become good friends that would be nice…and Psycho carrie lost a son I felt a little bad for her…this episode touches home for me because I lost a sister not in a violent way though but it still hurts…this was the best episode.

OMG i cried so much at this episode
it was so sad! i just saw the episode because here in Romania the episode came later…but was awesome! i cried so much that my eyes are RED like hell!
Jamie was so cute with the cape thing and the jersey….he gave the jersey to Q brother!….and at the end when Brooke started to cry and Jamie got her hand! he was so cute and the episode so sad!
i never taught that it would be that sad!

I watched with two of my friends last night and we all ended up crying–it was SO sad.
But it really was one of the best episodes to date…I loved it. And, the Nathan and Brooke scene followed up by the scene with Jamie and Brooke was great. I think Brooke is going to start coming back around again.

omg that was the greatest episode ever!!!! I had this big sleepover with 20of my friends and we were all hystericallyyy cryingg at the end(my mom thought we were being attacked)…I mean the whole epi was sad but that last scene with Brooke and jamie was just heartbreakinggg:( jamie laying out the cape on Q’s casket and Brooke just loosong it right about the same time I did:) and then jamie grabbing her hand while she stood there and sobbed…that was soo cute and sadddd:( best epi ever…season 6 is already the best…and we’re only 3 episodes in!!!I love one tree hill<33 rip q:(

Damn Nathan was so strong in that episode, I loved how he was there for everyone, he really stepped up for Haley and Jamie, and I think him talking to Brooke helped push her a little more into telling her friends what happened
I really hope that Lucas talks to Brooke I don’t want them together because I love the Leyton relationship but I don’t want Mark to cheap us out of their amazing close bond. We got to see that bond alot at the end of last season and he needs to bring that back in! I also really hope to see some Brooke, Peyton and Haley scenes!! ALSO MORE NALEY LOVES SCENES!!!!! Bethany and James have amazing chemistry and the Naley relationship is what true love really is. Naley all the way!! All the scenes with Dre (Q’s little brother) and Jamie were so sweet
