More Buzz for “Secret Life of Bees” featuring Hilarie Burton
The 12th Annual Hollywood Film Festival and Hollywood Awards, co-chaired by Paul Haggis and presented by Starz, are pleased to announce honorees who will be recognized for their achievements at the festival’s Hollywood Awards Gala Ceremony, which will take place on October 27, 2008, at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills.
The Cast of Fox Searchlight’s “The Secret Life of Bees” will be honored as the “Hollywood Ensemble Acting of the Year Award.”
About the Ensemble Cast: “The Secret Life of Bees,” based on the “New York Times” best-selling novel and set in South Carolina in 1964, is the moving tale of Lily Owens (Dakota Fanning), a 14-year-old girl who is haunted by the memory of her late mother (Hilarie Burton). To escape her lonely life and troubled relationship with her father (Paul Bettany), Lily flees with Rosaleen (Jennifer Hudson), her caregiver and only friend, to a South Carolina town that holds the secret to her mother’s past. Taken in by the intelligent and independent Boatwright sisters (Queen Latifah, Sophie Okonedo, and Alicia Keys), Lily finds solace in their mesmerizing world of beekeeping. The film also stars Nate Parker and is directed and adapted by Gina Prince-Bythewood.

Does Hilarie have a big part in the movie? I havent seen her in any of the previews

Her part is small. Lets just say her character faces a tragic end that haunts her daughter.
But it is cool for Hilarie to have gotten this part and have her name linked with the film. This film will do well during the Oscar race, I think.

OoO! I just saw the preview last night! Looks great!! Sadly there was no Hil, but i knew that was the movie she was gonna be in so i put it in my phone for when the movie comes out!

I’m so excited to see this movie! I read the book last year and it’s awesome, so I’m psyched to see it on the big screen, especially with Hilarie as Lily’s mom. That’s not a huge part, but it’s a very emotional one, and I think Hil will do great with it!

I hope to see it before I go to Wilmington on Oct. 21-22 to visit the One Tree Hill set and do my interviews. Hopefully I will get my interview with Hilarie and get to ask her about it.

HaHa Someone told me once that they would love to hear Hilarie and myself talking on the podcast. They seemed to think we both have a southern accent. I don’t hear it but maybe, just maybe they will get their wish.
And I will finally get to meet Hilarie and interview her. I know Amy would be happy. She is tired of me talking about wanting to meet Hil. LOL

I have only met Paul Johansson who plays Dan and Kate Voegele who plays Mia.And got to see Sophia Bush when I was an extra in July.
My chance to meet the whole cast will come in a couple of weeks when I visit set. Hopefully I will have clearance to take pics and such.
