One Tree Hill gets two more episodes

My dream of a 52-episode Gossip Girl season is moving closer to reality.
Two weeks after extending GG’s season by two episodes (from 22 to 24), The CW has informed exec producers Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage that it wants to tack on one more for a grand total of 25 episodes (and counting).
And this time, The CW is spreading the love around.
Sources also confirm to me exclusively that the net has ordered two additional episodes of One Tree Hill and 90210, extending both shows’ seasons to 24 episodes apiece.
Tree Hill has been a surprise success story for The CW. Despite my best efforts to destroy it, the six-year-old soap has been on a ratings roll, posting double-digit gains over last season and consistently building on its Gossip lead in. Not too shabby.
And 90210, while off its initial highs, has become a solid (if not spectacular) performer among its target audience of men and women age 18-49 who work at Entertainment Weekly young females.

Weird question but do you guys think OTH will stay on Monday nights with GG or do you think there is a chance that it will switch to Tuesday nights.. b/c i know that they sometimes switch it mid season like last year.. im in my last semester of college and have to take a night class either monday or tuesday night lol.. if you know anything please let me know!!

LeytonLove, I don’t know any news or anything, but it seems like all the CW shows are doing really well in their time slots now. I couldn’t imagine them messing with a great thing.

There are 23 episodes for Season 6 I believe the season finale would be a two hours so they put it as 2 different episodes, but I’m not sure if thats still the same since the likelyhood of a season 7 is extremely high.

^I would think that a S7 is almost definite now because if it wasn’t I don’t think the network would shell out the millions of dollars to produce the extra two episodes especially when the show hasn’t even been written past probably episode 14.

arghh!!! I really don’t want a seventh season. One Tree Hill is way to angsty for me and the show is actually starting to annoy me. I mean the storylines are funnier but I think Mark is destroying some characters personalities. I was just watching seasons one to four and they are so much better then seasons five and six. Just end it after season 6 Mark!!! Let it go out on a good note!!!!

You can’t compare season 1-4 of OTH to now. I am skipping season five because it was absolutley awful and I am sure they gave OTH a season six in hopes it would get better. And it did.
But skipping ahead four years re-booted the series and also pushed the once high school students into adulthood. And just like in real life who we are in high school is way different from how we become as adults and I think that is an accurate depicition we are seeing.
I have seen growth and I have seen maturity in all the characters. I used to despise Nathan but this season he has by far become one of my faves because he has matured into this great man, wonderful father and amazing husband.

look I am not really comparing them but in my opinion Lucas sucks!!! He is self indulgent and is all about himself!!! Peyton is dull and boring!! Brooke, well I must say Brooke is my absolute fav this season
Haley has no storyline, Nathan has gone soft and mellow and don’t get me started on the couples. Leyton is just plain DULL!! Naley are married and while they has been some cute lovey scenes and some good old flirting, I feel like they get left behind so that Mark can focus more on boring old Leyton. And Owen and Brooke who are entertaining as hell, hardly get any screen time together!!!!!

Thank GOD Lucas is a bit selfish. Being selfless Lucas is what has gotten him into so much trouble and caused so much pain for everyone else. If he had been selfish last season and open he wouldn’t have proposed to Lindsey, he would have stood up like a man and admitted he still had feelings for Peyton and all that drama and pain could have been avoided.
Nathan is maturing – he isn’t soft. And thank goodness he is maturing. His reckless nature has almost ruined his major and did ruin his NBA career.
I admit they focuse too much story time on Jamie – the kid is cute but not cute enough to suck up screen time.
And no difference for Haley then any other season – she plays the supportive role to whatever other character is is in crisis. Last season it was Peyton, this season it is Brooke.
And Peyton, well Peyton is truly happy for one of the first times in the six plus years we have known her in the One Tree Hill universe. She isn’t crying, she isn’t mourning, she isn’t pining. Peyton is in love and she is marrying the love of her life. I will allow her some quiet time to enjoy that – because I am.
And as an LP fan I can’t ever see them as boring. I am reveling in the fact that I have labored on this journey with them and I, like them, are reeping the rewards of seeing the finish line. And I will be one of the first to say finally when they say “I do.”

Very nicely put Denise. I agree with everything you said. I will be right behind you saying finally when they say “I do.” I have watched from the beginning wanting LP together and have enjoyed their other relationships along the way (Jeyton and Brucas) but I will be happy to see Leyton get married. TLA.

and that is great for, but for someone who has been a Naley fan for years and always watched them get shipped aside for Lucas/Peyton, Lucas/Peyton/Brooke and Lucas and Brooke it is annoying as all hell. And the whole Haley plays the supportive role is far to true and that sucks because she is by far the most talented one of the bunch!!!! Lucas doesn’t have to be selfish to get what he wants and he is still an ass!!!!!! Peyton?! Are you kidding me the girl is borderline depressing and the only time she even looks remotely happy is when Lucas is around which is pathetic!!! Nathan is maturing and yes that is good but I would still like to see some aggorance I mean there is no-way that that would be all gone!!!

wooh, it’s getting hot in here, hot, hot in here!! Calm down ladies, it’s just a show!! I think Naley are stronger in this season than in any other! They are comfortable with their love and they still flirt and kiss. They are just gold in my book
LEYTON DULL AND BORING!! Ahh I don’t think so, but you are allowed your opinions and if you don’t like them then that is cool. I personally love them and I like that Lucas is being selfish and I feel like Peyton is definitely coming out of her ‘emo’ cocoon!!! Owen and Brooke are like the funniest thing on this show, they are so hot!!!!! One Tree Hill rules!!! I do feel you on the seventh season though. I am a little bit worried about that too

ughh!! Not really excited for a 7th season. I really should be focsuing on my school work, but all I can think about is One Tree Hill and what Mark is going to do and just hoping that he doesn’t screw up couples that have been staples from the beginning. The idea of a season 7 leaves room for interpretation and there is no better fans than One Tree Hill fans to do that!!!! End it on a good note Mark, please!!!!!

I’m on the fence for Season 7. If they can come up with some great new storylines, some great NALEY scenes, then sure, i’m all for a season 7. But if there just going to drag everything on, I hope they end it at the end of this season. End it on a high note, don’t drag it on and end it on a sucky note.

okayyyy call me crazy but… i don’t think this means they’re leaning towards a season 7 at all. them adding ONLY TWO more episodes doesn’t mean they’re “already coming up with new storylines for the show”… it most likely just means that they’re going to spend more time on the ending, and drag it out a little more instead of trying to cram it in. because if you’ll remember, Mark said something a little while ago along the lines of just doing a season 7 with 11 or 12 episodes, just to have extra time to wrap the series up… without committing to a WHOLE new season. so that’s what it sounds like they’re doing to me… just taking a little more time to wrap the show up by adding a couple more episodes… and having a long 6th/final season, instead of doing it with a short 7th season! which is fine by me! that’s just how i’m viewing this news

yeah Natalie i can see what you’re saying… but just because the show is doing well now, doesn’t mean it would do well with a season 7. i just don’t want 7th season out of pity. or because they think that’s what we want. the only way i would really even want a season 7 is if they had NEW storylines for us to watch… which as of right now, i highly doubt they would. they’re already repeating the same storylines that we’ve seen over and over… (nanny Carrie/psycho Derek, Peyton’s real dad/Peyton’s real brother, Nathan and Haley with basketball and music). so how would they be able to make a whole new season with new storylines if they can’t even come up with any for this season? i don’t know, that’s just the way i feel about it!

I think this season would be a perfect end for this show… I hope they make it kickass though LOL… I want to see some great episodes to send this series off with. But, if they do decide to go for a season 7 I just worry that some fans are going to lose interest… (except for us dedicated few LoL)

that’s exactly how i feel alyssa. i feel like at the beginning of this season there were rumors going around that this would be the final season for a reason. i think Mark WAS originally planning on this being the final one… so why does that have to change now? they clearly knew that they wouldn’t be able to take the show any further, so i feel like all this sudden talk of a 7th season is just because they THINK that’s what we want… but it’s not. we want a GOOD 7th season that would actually have a purpose… not just a 7th season JUST to have another season. i’m willing to bet money that if they did have another season, we would just be seeing MORE of the SAME storylines that we’ve already seen more than once… and that’s definitely not the kind of new season i want!

lol again, i don’t think this means a season 7 at all. just because they’re able to drag out the end of season 6 and add only TWO more episodes, doesn’t mean they would be able to come up with a whole new season. at this point, i’m honestly almost hoping that this is the last season, because i’m worried for what a 7th season would do to the show. we’ve already heard that not everyone even wants to sign back on… so i can’t really see myself being that happy watching a 7th season knowing that the whole cast doesn’t even really want to be there lol

Yeah I feel like this should be the last season. I love this show to pieces. Usually shows that go on for so long you can mention seasons that you could probably do without. For OTH however, I have enjoyed every season even season 5 believe it or not. As hard as it was to see Leyton and Naley that way, I think season 5 in particular is what made them solid and now season 6 feels like a much awaited award for all that they’ve gone through. I also feel like Brooke is on her way to having the family she is yearning for with Sam and quite possibly a new love interest be it Owen or Julian, my money’s on Julian. Dan’s storyline is ending as well for me because it looks like they’re trying to head him on a path of redemption through Jamie and I really don’t want to see a dragged out season of that or a season where he just reverts back to his old ways.
