Exclusive ‘Melrose 2.0′ Deets: Heather Returning? ‘One Tree’ Boss Helming?

Almost immediately after the news broke that The CW was contemplating a 90210-esque reboot of the original’s spin-off, Melrose Place, the buzz turned to Heather Locklear. Would she? Could she? Should she?
Perhaps because her tumultuous personal life has been extra public lately, the actress formerly known as Amanda Woodward declined to be interviewed for this story. But a top Hollywood talent agent sees little downside in her slipping back into the man-eater’s trademark miniskirts: “It certainly wouldn’t hurt her to do it.” Even a high-ranking exec at a rival net is excited by the prospect of seeing Aaron Spelling’s old good-luck charm back in action. “She should wait and find out what the actual concept is,” says the suit. “But if it involves her running [her old Melrose ad agency] D&D à la The Devil Wears Prada, she should jump at it.”
Besides a decent premise, Locklear should also hold out until the series has someone decent in charge. Or someone, period. Darren Star, who created the original, has apparently passed. Now CW president Dawn Ostroff is looking internally for a boss, sources say. One Tree Hill creator Mark Schwahn, who just inked an overall deal with CBS/Paramount, the studio behind Melrose 2.0, is one name being bandied about. The exec confirms that he’s been approached, but adds, “That doesn’t mean I’m on [Dawn's] short list. It’s kind of natural they’d call.” Is he even interested? “Never say never…though I’m more about creating something new. I’m the guy to call when they want to remake One Tree Hill.”
One person who definitely won’t be taking on the job is Josh Schwartz, who has his hands full with The CW’s Gossip Girl and NBC’s Chuck. But he can still dream, can’t he? “I would make the apartment complex a retirement home and have it star Rue McClanahan, Betty White, and Bea Arthur,” he jokes. “That way you get two hit shows in one.”
What do you think? Should Heather sign on? Who else from the original cast would you like to see move back in? And what about Schwahn? Is he the right man for the job? And if not him, who? Comment away! (Additional reporting by Andy Patrick and Jennifer Armstrong)

Terrible idea! Please someone come up with an original concept… one reboot on a network (90210) is enough for me… I want to see something different.

I, for one, am excited about it. OTH will be over at some point and I have loved what Mark has done with OTH since the time jump. Now imagine Mark doing that with a show like Melrose Place! It’d be awesome!

Just come up with more original shows please. I think in the begning a lot of people including myself were exicited to watch the new 90210 because the old one was so good. But my friends and I don’t think the new show is special, it does not draw us in, sorry. people who I know that watch it say they only stick with it because of the old show hoping it will get to be as good. But yeah I do think Mark would do a very good job with melrose.
the poll is up to 21 http://www.wbnx.com

A re-make of melrose place would be good only if the do the show the way the show started! The first couple of season the show was great-focusing on melrose place, as in the place where all of these random people live and how their lives inter-mix. But after the first couple season it got too redic. to watch! My favorite epis. are the ones before Heather came to the show!

Meh, I’d prefer another season of OTH, lol.
Amy, new info:
Episode 6.11 – We Three (My Echo, My Shadow and Me)
Lucas finds inspiration and starts writing. His ideas come to life for the show’s viewers as we will see the scenes, set in 1941 at Karen’s Cafe, be played out by the show’s characters.
Episode 6.12
Jack, one of Sam’s friend, gets caught as he is about to leave Sam’s room through the window. Nathan undergoes a physical test at the gym to see how in shape he is.
You haven’t got these yet, right?

Oh, and an alternative 6.12 one:
One Tree Hill – Episode 6.12 – You Have Got to be Kidding Me
Brooke is shocked to find out that Samantha is in her room with a boy named Jack. Mia’s back in town and hanging with Peyton. Lucas continues to work with Julian. Nathan chooses whether or not he should be on Slamball.

I would like it! I loved Melrose Place. I would like Billy (Andrew Shue) Allison (Courtney Thorne Smith) Jo (Daphne Zungia) a.k.a Victoria Davis (brooke’s mom) to return to the show…and not to mention Jake (Grant Show)

Even Mark will do the Melrose Place Remake, it doesn’t automatically mean that there won’t be another season for OTH.
