Episode 11 We Three (My Echo, My Shadow, and Me) Recap
Chad is watching a movie in his room and his cell rings. It’s Peyton. Lucas says he’s going through the scripts. Says he’s reminiscing. There is a storm outside. Lucas says he’s fighting the urge to fight Julian. He sees the dove pendant and asks about it. She says her dad got her it. He says to be careful. He’ll be at home writing. He watches the movie and he’s transformed to Karen’s Cafe back in 1941. People are dancing, eating, talking. Lucas is snapping at the top of the steps, watching it all. He goes through the crowd talking to everyone. Mouth is drunk and Lucas says to calm down. Mouth says it’s power of the press and he’s working on something big that will shake up the whole town. Skills plays the piano and Lucas stops by. Brooke is in a red dress at the bar. Lucas goes to talk to her. Problems with men and money..he could help. She says she made her dress. He says he doesn’t mix business and pleasure. She says just pleasure then? She says he’ll be back. Luke talks to Nathan the bartender. Luke says it’d be good to know when he was leaving. He says his room is still open.
Haley is putting on hose listening to the radio. Dan walks in and turns it off. He says he’s checking in on his singer. Haley is upset. He says that’s how you talk to the man that saved you? He says he wants her back. She says she’s not going back to that hellhole. Dan kisses her. She fights him off and says one day someone will stand up to him. Dan says he’ll be watching her and break a leg.
An announcer introduces Haley James. She sings. Nathan looks at Haley and says he’s a nobody compared to her. She’s a somebody. Luke says to go get her. Nathan asks what Luke wants. He says nothing, he has everything he wants at Karen’s Cafe.
Dan walks in with Peyton. Nathan says they have a problem. Luke says he’ll take care of it. Julian walks up to a table and tells them to move it or lose it. Dan, Peyton and Julian sit at the table. Brooke walks by and Dan stops her and asks about the money she owes him. Brooke says something is in the works. Luke walks up and asks if he needs help. Dan says he thought it was his club since it’s his singer. Lucas says his is down the road without customers. He demands Haley back. Luke says she’s free and she wants to stay. He said Dan is free to go. Dan says he remembers the club was good when his mom ran it. He says she was always hospitable. Julian breaks a glass. Owen as a police officer walks up and says that’s enough. Julian, Dan and Peyton walk out. Luke gives a round on the house and Haley keeps singing.
Haley walks by the bar. A guy tries to harass Haley. Nathan saves him. He says maybe he should buy him another drink. Haley says why? He says it gave the bartender an excuse to talk to the singer. Haley says maybe give him two. One for him and one for me. She walks off.
Dan tells Julian to leave him and Peyton in the car. He says your mom made me promise to look after you. I saw you making eyes at Lucas. She says I wasn’t. He says don’t make me a liar. He says go to bed and lets her out. Julian says I believe you, I know you only have eyes for me and slaps her on the butt and lets her through the gate.
Mouth says he had a few too many as he leaves Karen’s Cafe. Mouth says I used to be the best reporter and I’m working on something big.
Luke goes back in the club and runs into Brooke. She says last chance. He says those were nice days we had. She said sorry I broke your heart. Skills says are you having trouble holding your whiskey because you just let Brooke Davis go. Lucas tears up her bar tab. He says one day Brooke Davis going to change the world.
Brooke catches a taxi outside. She doesn’t have enough money and says she’s walk. She gives a homeless man her money. Dan stops in his car at her. She says she doesn’t have his money. He expects a return on his investment. She spent it on her garter line. She wants more time. He says she has until midnight the next night or else. Julian offers to rough her up but he says no and to get the nosy cop. Mouth hears it all where he fell down coming out of the club.
Nathan and Haley sit after everyone is gone. They make small talk. Lucas goes through mail and stops. Haley says she settled here and got stuck at Dan’s and then Lucas saved her. She says she’ll stay awhile. Nathan says they miss Karen and she would approve. Nathan says he might ask her out sometime and Haley says he should stop wondering and ask her. Luke brings him a letter from the military.
Peyton walks in and she says her car broke down. He says what so Dan can beat me up? She says Dan’s not with her. Outside, Luke looks at the car. He says he’s not really a mechanic. She says no one ever stands up to Dan that way. She says he thinks the confrontation made him respect him. Luke says he’s sorry, he can’t figure out the car. She said you wouldn’t mind an old-fashioned walk home would you? He says sure. She drops a spark plug behind her.
They walk over a bridge lit up. She talks about being a nurse. She said do you think I’m pretty. Luke says I don’t know you well enough to say that. She says you don’t talk much. He says he’s not the gabby kind. She says what does a girl have to do for some interesting conversation short of throwing myself at you? Luke asks why she associates with Dan. She says nevermind. He persists. She says it’s a long story. She says her mother and Dan were in love and he promised to take care of her. She’s her own woman, he just goes out with her. She says I’ve been locked up my whole life and I need freedom and love. She spins on the bridge.
Nathan and Haley dance at the club. Nathan tells Haley about the letter. He has to report the next night. He wants to spend his last night with her. They kiss.
Lucas and Peyton walk. She says she wants to make her own decisions. She came back because she needs something different and he is the first thing that is. He says you are. She says what? He says you asked if you are pretty and he says you are but it’s your heart that makes you beautiful. They get to her place. She says no one knows about Dan. He won’t say. He says there’s a sign at the bar that says people always leave but he says stay while. Maybe they can do it sometime. He says would it be alright…? She said just shut up and do it. He kisses her.
Brooke comes around the corner and smiles.
Nathan and Haley sit in a gazebo. He tells her he loves her and has since the first time he saw her. He says he’s not afraid of dying. She says he’s not going to die, he’s going to come home to her. She says she’s got a crazy idea. They kiss.
Brooke walks into a garage to talk to Dan. She says she has information about Peyton. She says Peyton and Lucas were together last night. He doesn’t believe her. He insists she’s lying and tells them to get her out. She says it’s a shame about Peyton’s mother. Consider my debt forgiven. He says not yet. She has to do one more thing.
Skills leaves the club. Julian is at the car and says he could do better at the comedy club. They break his hand in the car door.
Peyton goes to see Luke at the car. She gives him her necklace. She says it came from a sailor when she was little. She leaves. He says stay awhile. Peyton says she’ll hold out until that night cap. She wouldn’t want a girl to look too needy.
Dan has Owen tied up torturing him. He says he reminds him of Keith Scott.
Dan has Mouth. Peyton walks up and says to stop it. She said all this time she didn’t want to believe he was evil. Mouth says he killed Lucas’ uncle Keith. Julian punches Mouth. Peyton says is that true?? Dan punches Peyton and tells her to get in the car. Julian hangs him off the bridge.
Nathan and Haley are in bed together. She said she’s dreaming about their house and children. He wants a girl just like her. She says a boy. He says we can name him James. You see a marriage certificate on the table.
Dan says Mouth should beg for his life and he might let him free. Mouth spits in his face. They push him into the water off the bridge.
Peyton goes to get Lucas and Skills and the club. Luke gets his gun. Peyton says we can leave and be free. He says he’s hurt everyone including you. He needs to pay. He says are you sure you want to leave with me? Luke says Skills I want you to have the place. Luke and Peyton leave. Two cars come and meet them on the street and block them.
Lucas shoots Julian. Dan comes up from the other way. Luke points his gun at him. Dan turns around and says I didn’t even shoot him in the back. Brooke comes out of the car. Dan turns back on him with a gun. Luke puts his gun down. He tells him to finish her job. She gets the gun and points it at Lucas and then around at Dan and there were no bullets in the gun. Dan punches Brooke. Skills attacks Dan. Luke has his gun. Luke turns around and Peyton is shot in the stomach. Luke says you and me are going to leave. Peyton says I love you and dies. A storm starts.
Haley takes Nathan to the plane. He says I’m coming back to you. She says she’ll wait for him…always and forever. They kiss.
Lucas holds Peyton. Dan watches. Brooke starts to cry. Luke pulls out her necklace and looks at it. He says you’re free now, Peyton. He starts to cry. A cell phone rings in his pocket then he’s back to the present. It’s Peyton. She says did I wake you up? She says she’ll be home soon, He says I just had the craziest dream. He says don’t ever leave me. She says Ok, bye. At TRIC, she falls down with a pain in her side.

Looking forward to reading about the episode tomorrow morning – I live in the UK (London) so can’t see S#6 yet and it’s soooo frustrating!! Thank God for onetreehillblog.com – I’d be lost without it!! Enjoy the episode – looks like it’ll be amazing – Chad Michael Murray is a very talented boy.

I am sorry, and this is just me, but I really am not looking forward to tonights epi.,I was kind of hoping that it was not a dream epi. but if Dawson(Sorry IDK his name on the show) was reading his screen play and this is what he was picturing from reading it. It doesn’t seem to be written that way, so I guess I’m not looking forward to seeing CMM’s ego on screen. Like I said “SORRY.”

I am usually so stoked for Monday, I am not today- I think that I am going to be soooo disappointed for tonight’s epi., I was kinda hopping that we would get something diff. that all Peyton all epi., but it still seems to be like that.

Its like we’re taking a break from OTH and having some other kind of show with the characters we love. I don’t know if it will take the storyline anywhere but i think it will be cool to see.

I don’t know, I wish it was just some more good OTH-style drama but at the same time I just find the concept so intriguing that I am excited to see it!

Okay WOW… so I’m not the only one that isn’t looking forward to tonights episode. I really hope that it’s a lot better than I think it will be. I know they worked super hard on this show but from the clips it just looks really stagey to me. The set as Karen’s Cafe looks amazing but really fakey to me. Plus it’s somewhat disappointing to know that as far as I can tell this episode will not progress the current plots at all.

It is just a filler episode, it is showing how OTH, once again, is pushing the envelope, they are showing that they can do anything they want. Even if it seems silly and out of place! I love it for that fact alone!! I am and always have been proud of OTH for being different!!

Do not get me wrong, I love Chad Micheal Murry, but this episode is boring, and if i didn’t love freaking OTH so much the channel would already be changed. Ugh i feel bad for disliking it this much but it is just bad and i would rather be doing something else.

i dont know, i like the story lines, but the actors seem like they are over acting. i love OTH, and im trying to love this episode, at least it is getting better the more i watch. i hate saying this because i love Chad. this is just my opinion, maybe others love it.

I really liked this episode. I was a bit leary at first but it warmed up to me. It was different yet tied in oth pretty well. It’s amazing how so many people freak out because they have one episode that is a little out of the normal. Start to think out of the box now and then. It kind of makes things interesting. I highly doubt that CMM or the producers of OTH used the phrase “Pretty girl” in disrespect to any fan base but more as a term of endearment. The dream makes sense…how many times haven’t I seen a movie and fell asleep dreaming of it but with familiar faces in it. I think CMM did a good job!

This was a great episode in my mind… Chad did an amazing job! He did call Peyton “pretty girl” but he also called her beautiful! and it was great how he used lines from the past… I loved it!
Even if u didn’t like the episode we should all give him props for writing this… it took him a long time and he put in a lot of hard work so please don’t disrespect his episode… even if u didn’t like it. And I so wasn’t expecting Peyton having that pain in her side! ahh

How is everyone just okay with the “pretty girl” blasphemy comment? I mean that is a staple of Brucas and now that is gone pretty soon we are going to find out that Peyton wrote Lucas exactly 82 letters too and she slept with Chris Keller…it is a slap in BLers face and it is a slap in Peyton’s face…I am just waiting for the day Lucas walks into Brooke’s store and is like “Brooke your sketches matter” then we will see how calm the LPers are when he turns around and tells Brooke “i’ll be seein ya”

I really liked this episode. I loved all the throw back moments to previous six seasons (the gazebo a la Honey Grove) or (the comment that Brooke Davis is going to change the world). I am a film student so I am a film junkie and I loved the throwback moments. The structure of this show was awesome. I think what people see as over acting just shows it as being more true to the genre. As Chad said in an interview some of the things that were done in the 1940s movies have become cliche today but it is true to the genre. I think CMM did a terrific job. On a side note the last clip where Peyton grabbed her stomach/side at Tric I had tears in my eyes. Don’t know why I just did. I’m curious to see what was going on with her.

A little background info for everyone–
I’m minoring in Cinema Studies and one of my classes right now is all about Film Noir , which is the film movement this episode was based on. Specifically, Film Noir is a movement in which private detectives, journalists, gangsters, femme fatales, and many other things create a darker world. Every aspect of this episode was film noir. Even the overacting, which was a staple of many of the early (1940s-early 1950s) noir films. I think that if you don’t really have a good understanding of the film noir movement, it makes it harder to completely understand where CMM was coming from with this episode.
NOTE: This wasn’t meant to offend, just inform! I hope everyone found at least one aspect of the episode to enjoy. I really liked the whole thing

i’m sorry… but i thought this was the worst episode of the entire series lol. it was SO stupid!! i mean i know that it’s not supposed to have anything to do with the rest of the storylines, but still, it couldn’t even keep my attention! it was WAY too fake, and i thought the acting was awful.
i didn’t like how Chad tried to mix the old REAL history of the show, with make believe stuff. like pick one or the other. it was just so unrealistic and way too unbelievable. i don’t know… i just don’t see how ANYONE could have enjoyed that lol. i literally had to force myself to sit through the whole thing.
and i do see all the Brucas fans’ point on the “pretty girl” issue. if i was a Brucas fan that really would have rubbed me the wrong way.

And yes it was maybe a bit out of the box for some of you but it was a great AU and a great accomplishment for Chad.
It had all the staples as Stacy suggested – including Peyton playing the sheltered “ward” of the evil villian whom she tries to believe has good in him until she sees the truth.
And the look on Dan’s face as Peyton lay dying was AWESOME!! It was as if he saw his whole world come crashing down around him and the one person who could have seen good in him leaving this earth.

my biggest issue was that the peyton getting shot, then dying in lucas’s arms in the rain was a BLATANT RIP-OFF of the 1996 scene on 90210 where toni was shot, then died in dylan’s arms in the rain.

I seem to be in the minority but I liked this episode. I do agree that certain lines (i.e. Pretty Girl) are meant for specific relationships.

This is my take on the pretty girl argument:
And Lucas also mentioned he had been going through all their history while looking over the screenplay. You know how you say something to someone if things are on your mind. He could have been reading that part he wrote in the script about Brooke and when Peyton called said “hey pretty girl” cause it was the last thing he read.
That is all I think it was.

Lindcus, you are not holding back.lol. i dont understandd why CMM had to put the pretty girl thing in the script…he is obviously a leyton fan.lol. he upset many brucas fans and fans of OTH. i think after that line i kind of gave up on this episode. and oh yeah, it got me upset that when dan hit brooke, lucas didnt even flinch or acted like he cared. if they are going to mix up story lines lucas should of hit dan like he did in season 3 when dan pushed peyton. just my opinion.

I really enjoyed this episode and I am so proud of Chad.
He made it funny (and corny) but it was also serious and touching. I was moved by the ending, very little dialog, but it was directed beautifully.
I think people are getting a bit upset about the pretty girl comment. I think the line was totally in line with the era and how they used to call women pretty. Don’t think Chad meant to defame the memory of Brucas.
I never tell people to give up or not be a fan of a couple, but Brucas has not been anything remotely resembling a couple in over three years. It is clear they are not going back there and Brooke is Lucas and Peyton’s biggest supporter. If anyone watched tonight hoping to get sign of what could come with Brucas, I think they were dissappointed.
Bottome line, if you are a Naley and Leyton fan you would have enjoyed it, if you have no interest in those love stories not so much. I think it followed the themes of what is going on in present time.

Also, if anyone is interested in the Film Noir movement, I’d suggest renting “The Maltese Falcon”, “Casablanca” (which was CMM’s inspiration for this episode/was playing in the background in the beginning), and “Laura”. If you want something newer, “Body Heat” and “Chinatown” are also excellent. There’s also a neo-noir movement that includes “Memento” and “Seven” along with many others.

i don’t think it matters WHY he said it, i think it’s disrespectful regardless of why it was used. i would be so pissed if i were a Brucas fan lol. i don’t remember who said this, but i think she hit the nail right on the head when she said that it’s no different than if Lucas had said “i’ll be seeing ya” to Brooke. you all would be mad too.

i’m a leyton fan and maybe it’s just me but i took the route i thought most brucasers would take.. that this was a set up for something bad bw luke and peyton.. like maybe “pretty girl” will be in lucas’ movie andpeyton will be like uhh you called me that? bc peyton never actually heard luke call ehr that.. idk i’m def prob going way to far ahead on that.. i understand why brucasers r upset.. im upset bc peytons my favorite character and i dont wnat him reusing lines on her.. ubt it IS lucas.. he reuses all his lines.

Ok, I loved the storylines CMM did a good job but the performances could have been better. I understand what the Brucas fans are saying about the pretty girl thing )(leyton fan here) I was surprise myself. By the way he did give peyton a nickname “Wiley” I would have felt better if he had called her that. But I don’t think it was suppose to mean anything more than just a compliment and she is pretty.

OMG Stacy, “Laura” is my all-time favorite classic movie. How can you go wrong with Joseph Cotten and Gene Tiereny. Just saw them in the move “Where the Sidewalk Ends” by Otto Preminger and LOVED it too.
I so think it would have been cool, though, for this episode to not be so dark. I would have loved to see Lucas and Peyton play a little Nick and Nora Charles. Jamie could be the dog Asta. LOL

I completely understand BL fans being upset about “Pretty girl” but frankly I am more surprised that more LP fans are not offended by Luke reusing it on P… I get that he was tying in past elements but he could have written it so he said that line to Brooke when they were talking at the bar… but atleast there was some BL scenes for fans of the ship to talk about all week so I would just say don’t dwell on the bad take in the good>

I liked it. Wasn’t my favourite or anything but it was just abit of fun
HATED the ‘prettygirl’ reference to Peyton! Even though I am a huge Leyton supporter when he said it I was just like ‘OH NO YOU DIDN’T’. I really don’t see what the purpose of that was, unless he wanted to slap the BL fans in the face!! I just thought it was really distasteful, on the other hand he might not have even thought about that when he wrote it. NALEY WAS ADORABLE AS ALWAYS!! They really are just sweet as anything and of course my Leyton, they were amazing

overall… not the best episode in my book. Chad trying to mix their real life history with fictional side stories just didn’t work for me. i also thought the acting was a little over the top, but maybe that was done on purpose to fit the time period better, i don’t know.
HOWEVER, i will agree that if you’re a Leyton or Naley fan, this episode rocked (or atleast the Leyton and Naley scenes did). the end between Leyton was sooo sweet i was seriously almost crying lol, just seeing how upset Lucas was when Peyton was out of his life was so sad. and i LOVED how all of those Leyton scenes really did end up meaning something to Lucas in real life when he woke up, because when he was on the phone with Peyton at the end, he said “Peyton, don’t ever leave me again”. That dream just made him realize that he can’t let Peyton get away from him again, and that he needs her in his life
and i do see why Brucas fans would be upset about Lucas calling Peyton “pretty girl”. it kind of caught me off guard too… but i obviously don’t think he meant it in the same way, or like a “nickname” like he did for Brooke… know what i mean? either way… the episode itself was okay, the Leyton scenes were awesome, and props to Chad for his first episode!

Honey, I was referring to Lucas’ conversation with Peyton in his dream about being pretty. Honestly it did not register to me (regarding Brucas) when he said it to Peyton in present time.
I really do not think that CMM went out of his way to write something that he thought would be offensive to Brucas fans. I think given the Lucas/Peyton relationship it is just a term of endearment from a boyfriend to a girlfriend. I think that if we want to blame someone for the line, we should direct our attention to the continuity people and maybe even Mark who should have known.
I do respect how you feel and I do understand why you may not have enjoyed the episode. It clearly centered around Lucas and Peyton, but it was Lucas’ dream and because they ar together, this is what is on his mind.

Ok I’ve been struggling a lot to watch this season, mainly b/c I am NOT a Leyton fan and their corny, horrible chemistry is plastered all over the screen every episode. Although I am a Brucas fan I’m getting to the point where it seems Mark has gone beyond just making sure we get that they aren’t gonna be together anymore to belittling what they had, something he said he wouldn’t do. Lucas had become a real jerk, to put it nicely, in my opinion. To say what he said tonight (Oh and let’s flashback to season 3 “You’re mine forever” ring a bell) I honestly I’m just sick of it all. I’m starting to conform to a Brulian fan and they have pics together for next week so at least I won’t get my hopes up on seeing them together and then nothing, like this whole Crapfeast season has been!

I know….but they called eachother than before they were a couple. he called brooke “pretty girl” in one of the most emotional great scenes in OTH. it meant something. he said ” i love u too….pretty girl” that was my favorite episode in OTH history i can almost recite that scene word for word. i cried when i watched it for the first time. i dont think leyton will every have a moment like that. MY OPIONION.

okay i personally have LOVED this season…. and yeah i’m happy that Leyton are together, but that’s not the only reason i’ve liked this season. i think some Brucas fans are taking this whole thing a little too far, as far as bashing this season, just because Leyton are together and Brucas isn’t.
the whole series can’t revolve around Brucas and Brucas fans… at some point it has to be good for other fanbases too. i’m sorry but Brucas fans have already had their seasons, and us Leyton fans have had to sit through them… it’s our turn to get our season now, and it’s Brucas fans’ turn to sit through a Leyton season for once.
and i agree with Jenna that while we all may recognize the term “pretty girl” as a term that Brucas used… that doesn’t mean that Lucas CAN’T use it for someone else. just because he said it to Peyton doesn’t mean that it was to purposely slap Brucas fans in the face, he was just calling Peyton a pretty girl. i don’t think they purposely threw that in there to hurt Brucas fans, or were even thinking about Brucas when they wrote it. i think they were just thinking about Lucas and Peyton, and something sweet he could say to her as he answered the phone

This episode was horrible!!! the writing was bad…im sorry Chad but the dialogue had me cringing…like i hated the Leyton scenes and they are pretty much my entire reason for watching the show! Naley was the best part of this episode.Bethany was awesome and so was Paul…And as a Leyton fan..I am completely offended by Lucas calling Peyton “pretty girl”…so annoyed..was expecting so much more from this episode..sorry Chad pls stick to acting…

I think that Chad absolutely DID want to write something that was a slap in the face to BL, Brooke, and yes, Sophia fans. It was no accident. He also used the “I’m not ready to lose you yet” line to Peyton before the dream, which he also said to Brooke in Season 2.
So, I think Chad was extremely disrespectful to about half of the show’s fan base, and Mark let him do it. Sophia could probably care less, but as a fan I do care, even tho that might/does make me lame. Chad gave us all the finger, and I’m sure he’s laughing about it. I also think it’s funny that he had to write himself as this big hero guy, like he’s really Humphrey Bogart, please. We get it, he wants to erase BL from our memories, but all he’s doing is erasing fans from his show.
And as someone who has also studied “film noir” I still thought the show was trite, hackneyed, not campy enough to be funny, except unintentionally. I do admire Chad for wanting to try his hand at writing, but I thought the show was terrible, mean-spirited, too violent, random and a waste of time.
It’s driving this fan away,and I’ve watched since episode 1.

Naley made the whole show for me tonight. Just loved them they were as cute as ever and just made me swoon! Hated when Lucas called Peyton ‘prettygirl’. I was just like ‘WTH?’. Really wished Brooke had more of a storyline, she looked so hot in her 40’s getup!! The reason the whole prettygirl pissed me off was because if Nathan had of said ‘always and forever’ or ‘my girl’ to someone else even in an au episode it would annoy the hell out of me and I would smash my t.v. I just think that prettygirl, cheery or even broody are staples of the Brucas relationship and you just shouldn’t mess with them, it is very insulting to fans!!!

I did say mainly b/c of Leyton NOT totally. Personally I’ve felt this season has kinda lacked some, I dunno, excitement maybe. Looking at pervious seasons there has always been a good amount of drama and this one has been kinda flat. Yeah there was the CRAZY Nanny Carrie stuff, but honestly it wasn’t even that intense to me. There has been a lot of potential this season to be really great. For instance my favorite character was beaten up at the being of the season and was a little stand offish and dark but a few episodes later, it’s like it never happened!!! Gosh imagine if someone happened to notice that Brooke was lying about what happened to her and maybe she like locks herself in the house and they have to like come save her or something! Or maybe, God forbid, her attack was something more than just a robbery, they could’ve helped soooo many girls out there that may watch the show and have been attacked by showing her overcoming and her friends being there. Anyway, this is getting way to long. Just felt the need to clarify a little.

I mean I guess I am an AWFUL person. All our growing up years my sister’s nickname from me was Fred – don’t ask don’t know why. But then a few years ago I made friends with a girl that looked so much like the girl who played Fred on Angel it was SCARY so I called her Fred too.

Guys, the PRESENT DAY story is about Lucas and Peyton, nothing to do with Brucas. The only reason that Mark allowed this episode to happen, is so they could work it into what was going on in the show NOW. Chad did what he was told to do, write a AU episode that would pick up the themes of present day OTH.
I am surprised that people think this is a BIG slap in the face by Chad anbd Mark. If so, you think that episode one did the same? If you did not like the episode because it was not what you had hoped, that is one thing, but I think it was just a departure from the norm with some fancy sets and clothes. We should not be taking it all so serious. It was meant to be fun.

But have you guys read a book called “Wuthering Height” or seen the late 30s version of it? It is classic fodder to have the hero’s lady die in his arms with words of love on her lips. That scene also isn’t patented to some cheesy show from the 90s.

I don’t think the whole pretty girl thing is a big issue, cause he even said to brooke in this episode that what they had was really great, I even noticed a little glimps of something that was once there. Now don’t get me wrong I am a die hard fan of Leyton, but you never know lucas could end up with brooke. and chad even said in one of his interviews that the end of season six is going to revolve around Brucas, so all I am saying is don’t read so much into the whole pretty girl thing, it’s no big deal, as far as I know that is the first time he has ever called peyton that.

the writer of the show shouldn’t have to tip toe around writing the dialogue that they REALLY want to write, just to make sure they’re not “deminishing” a relationship from FOUR OR FIVE YEARS ago. they should be worrying about the relationships NOW, and writing dialogue that makes sense for the characters NOW, not writing dialogue that pertains to high school… this isn’t high school anymore.
if heaven forbid the writers think that it’s okay for Lucas to finally be calling someone ELSE pretty girl, and say “i’m not ready to lose you” to someone ELSE at this point, then they have the right to write that. i’m sorry but there is no Brucas anymore, Lucas should be allowed to say those things to someone else now… because that’s what people do in real life, we repeat things. but that’s just my opinion

During the last few eps, they have done everything in their power to try to make out the Brucas relationship was just a speedbump, when all the fans know that it wasn’t. Do you understand that? oth/chad just did the same exact thing. yes, obviously the mise-en-scene is quite common but they really seemed like exact replicas here. that’s all i was saying.
has nothing to do with whether you’ve ever had a desire to see 90210. and if you’ve never seen the show, dont call it a cheesy 90s show. talk about things you’ve actually seen and therefore know about.

I host the almost, we are working on it, podcast for One Tree Hill. I work closely with the music supervisor for One Tree Hill as well as one of the Assoc. Producers.
I only started watching the show in February. But all these knuckleheads, LOL, said I had so many opinions I should start a podcast. Well, I did after the season five finale and six short weeks later I became syndicated. Then I caught the eye of the people at One Tree Hill and the rest, as they say, is history.

LeytonTLA, I have waited since season 1 to see the Leyton we have now. We were lucky to get them for the second half of Season 4, but this is what I had hoped for. I just don’t understand why I should not be able to enjoy this episode for what is was meant to be as well as the great Leyton love story they are telling this year. There is no triangle, no threat of Brucas and the only threat would be Julian. I thoroughly enjoyed tonight for what it was,Lucas’ dream which was motivated by his subconsicous fears of being with the love of his life and losing her, pure and simple.

Jenna you hit the nail on the head. What I was trying to bring across at the FF board.
I don’t need blatant LP slobbering over each other. They did that with Lucas and Lindsey because they were tryng to cram their relationship down our throats.
Lucas and Peyton are about easy acceptance of each other. Settling in and just being with each other. Being playful and calling each other dorks or knuckleheads. Or Peyton teasing him in bed in 607. Just enjoying each other.
I love that. I can handle that. And I LOVE Lucas wants her to be careful. He doesn’t need to say it, I can see it in his eyes. He is saying you have my heart don’t go anywhere with it – just you come home and bring it with you.

I think she is like most of us. We sometimes have pain or sickness and just endure it. I had nosebleeds for a almost a month until it got so bad I went to the doctor and found out blood vessels had burst in my nose.
Peyton seems to be a pretty tough chick, and probably doesn’t go to the doctor much. So, it probably happens, this intense pain, and then goes away. But it probably happenes more then once which makes her worry and she goes to the doctor. We may even have her remembering Ellie say something about when she first discovered she had cancer which will make Peyton worry.

Jenna, my second day was most of the scenes of Lucas and Peyton in the cafe and I was in HEAVEN!!! I got to see Hil deliver her big lines about the dove and giving it to Lucas. I sat with the earphones, which turned out to be Marks (HaHa), and just drank it in. She NAILED it every time.
It was mostly Chad and Hil and Antwon working on that set the second day and as I said it was AWESOME. And I can tell you this, and I am not being biased I promise, when Hilarie walked on set the whole mood changed. Joe Davola jumped from his chair and all but fell over himself to her. The crew seemed to be a little lighter and she had this infectious laugh. You could tell she was a STAR in their eyes. And she just played around with Chad.
LOL she did hang out around her heater a lot. Those clothes were thin and it was chilly in there because most of the lights were turned off on set.

I loved the episode – maybe because I like Casablanca, and the show completely captured the character of that time. A show must reinvent itself, and OTH just did.
Great script! Great dialogue! A great movie/episode is a masterful weave of cliches. That is what a storytelling/ cinematic genius is.
And Peyton is Lucas’ girl now, and she is pretty, and add the flashback cues…what is everybody so upset about??

And how Lucas admitted he can’t live without her after doing so for so many years. I know we haven’t gottent the “big” talk from Lucas but there are so many hints by him that he regrets what he put Peyton through and what he missed.
And I think it is weird to see Peyton in pain like that. We have seen Peyton be shot and roughed up by Psycho Derek. But nothing like that – not a sick or ill Peyton. It really hit home for me. Life really is fragile and I think if something goes wrong for Peyton that is when we might see some bigger reveal and sorrow from Lucas for all the time he wasted without her. And how much he really screwed up.

I love Hilarie and think she is amazing and I can totally understand how the crew feels when she steps on set. She is such a great actress and when she cries, it makes me want to cry (she is that good). Even the scenes at the end of tonight’s episode (while she was dying), she was perfect.
Did they laugh alot? I know it was a serious scene, but I could see them trying to lighten the mood after and emotional scene.

alot of you said that this episode was based on Leyton’s love for each other. i think it was more based on peytons love for lucas. it didnt look like lucas loved her at all, except that he was interested THATS ALL. he didnt save peyton this time. he did try saving brooke, when he ripped up the money or whatever she owed

Lucas and Peyton are and have been the story for a long time and I don’t think any dialog new or recycled is meant to hurt the Brucas fanbase. I would argue that “Babe” was used in all three of Lucas’ realtionships as I am sure were many other words of affection.

So many people did that in war time. People thought this was it. The end. The Axis was marching across Europe and Pearl Harbor had just been bombed – the largest attack on the US forces EVER.
So it was very common for fellows heading off to war to meet a gal and marry her before he shipped out. Now what happened if he returned is another story. But just like any good movie, we just see them ride off into the sunset, never what happens when it comes back up.
Also, Peyton was a sheltered ward of Dan. She was trying her hand at what I think she thought he wanted. After all he was a worldly club owner. But then when she realized he was just this guy, this simple guy who lived a simple life, she admitted all she wanted was her freedom to love someone and not have someone hovering over her.
I think she stayed with Dan, and let him care for her, because her mother wished it. Kind of like present Peyton was a cheerleader because her mother was.

Let me get this straight! Because Lucas did NOT say I love you in this episode and Peyton did, meant that Peyton is the one in love and Lucas is just hiding his feelings for Brooke? Please don’t tell me that is what some of you believe? Correct me if I am wrong, but who was having the dream? Who was lying on the groung cradling his love crying and devastated? I just don’t know how this turned into a Brucas story. This gets my back to what I said before. The story was about two great Love Stories (Chad said it himself) and how you can lose them as quickly as you have them. This was about Lucas’ fear of losing Peyton.

Brucas we can agree to disagree about the pretty comment, but I believe it was innocent.
Regarding your last statement about Brooke telling Lucas to go with Peyton because she did not want to fight her friend, I can not disagree more.
If you remember, after the awards dinner (and listenting to Whitey’s speech) Brooke AND Lucas both realized that they did NOT see forever with them. They finally admitted that they did not have that and even Brooke said to him ” do you think that kind of love even exists”, and Lucas says ” I hope so”. From that point on, Lucas never looked back and his words in his book about that championship game and how he realized that ” He always has been and will forever be in love with Peyton Sawyer.

LucasDavis, that question/answer concerning Chad has nothing to do with Brucas still “being in the race” in the show. they asked CHAD who HE preferred Lucas to end up with, and he said he loved working with all 3. Chad very well even could have said that he would prefer Lucas to end up with Brooke, but that still wouldn’t mean that that would be an option, that’s just what HE would PREFER

Ok honestly last I check this site was called ONETREEHILLBLOG not LEYTON LOVERS. It’s the same thing everytime. i know this wasnt a “romantic scene” but LeytonTLA, lucas and brooke both acknowdleged the kiss from season 5. obviously lucas never forgot and neither did brooke. and its funny that you keep saying how ridiculous it sounds to you that us BLers still have faith. you really are funny.

Right so lol not to be random and interrupt the bickering or anything but still researching this thing because I really want to know what the hell is wrong with my Peyton. Anyway I think it’s something called round ligament pain. “t usually presents as a brief but sharp or stabbing pain in your abdomen, but you may also feel a dull ache in the lower abdomen that lasts for a short time. Most often women feel this when they get up suddenly or change position.”
Only problem with that is it says it usually occurs around the 13th week of your pregnancy and that doesn’t fit Peyton can’t be that pregnant yet.

as for the pretty gir thing: Leyton fans don’t mind recycled lines. This was proven in season 4, when Peyton was all of sudden the girl Lucas wanted next to him when his dreams came true. Or when he said Brooke would be the biggest part of his world at the rivercourt but Peyton made it their place too by painting all over it. It goes on and on. Peyton has proven she doesn’t mind having things that Brooke has already had with Lucas. LOL. Sorry, my mind was in the gutter for that one, lol.

Lucas Davis you are missing the point. I did not say that they saw themselves in Whitey and Camilla. What they did is walked away for good, because they realize that they were not eache other’s forever. There words not mine. That was closure and you can not deny that since that point, they moved on. How could Brooke feel that dept of love for Lucas and be ok with him being with Lindsey. Peyton was DEVASTATED and could not accept it, but Brooke has NO problem with it and was supporting Lucas and Lindsey.
You can have hope, but the facts are the facts.

it is a little harsh Honey, but the Leyton fans just seem to get on their highhorses all the time and I for one am sick of it!!! I cannot stand Leyton, I was never really a Brucas fan either but I love, love, love Brooke and I just think Brucas had a far stronger chemistry. Ok so my prediction, Peyton gets cancer and dies and Brooke and Lucas are devastated and while comforting each other through their loss, they find the spark is still there, but Brooke, being the selfless loving sole she is, will battle with her feelings, even though Peyton is gone, and it will drone on and on and on until FINALLY, Brooke will grow a backbone and say “Hey, why shouldn’t I be happy??” and then they live happily ever after. Yeah so I’m gonna get tarred and feathered for this one but anything is possible on OTH it seems. I mean come on Leyton were jumping on the bed together this season and Nanny Carrie was running with an axe throw a freakin’ corn field.

Naley does not have these types of issues, so you can enjoy them to the fullest without the threat of someone diminishing their love and relationship.
If there were truly a triangle and if there were the slightest hint of Brooke and Lucas, I could understand, but tonight was clearly, and without a doubt about Lucas, Peyton and Nate and Haleys love.

Prettygirl’ is not just some random pet name though. They had it back and forth with each other for a long time of saying that and ‘Boyfriend’ back. It obviously a actually meant something a lot more to them in their relationship than just saying a pet name like baby or sweetheart.
No one is saying Brucas has to get back together, but there are some things you just don’t do, and saying that to Peyton should have been one of them. If I was her, I’d be pissed and feel disgusted that he used the same nickname on me that he used to use on my best friend.

I didn’t like the ‘PRETTY GIRL’ comment to Peyton.
That is so obviously a BL line.
I understand why some BLers are upset.
Add the lack of screentime or even FRIENDSHIP scenes between BL this season, the few scenes they did have was Brooke cheerleading LP, and now Lucas uses an expression that is well-known between Brooke and Lucas, on Peyton.
If the shoe was on the other foot, I’d be peeved.
There was NO NEED to use that line on Peyton.

Whatever it is, it has divided the BL/LP fanbase even more than it already has. Through no fault of ours. Not the fans fault. Not LP or BL’s fault. All on the writers.

I liked the episode. Some cheesy lines and they way they were delivered was different to say the least, but I’m thinking that is was intentionally done that way to fit the feel of older films of that era. Movies from the 30’s, 40’s, and 50’s had a different feel to them. I loved all the LP scenes and the rain scene at the end. Nathan and Haley were perfect, as they always are.
I’ll have to watch this ep again for the full verdict.

It kinda hurts to say this, but this was probably one of my least favorite OTH episodes of all time. I thought it was an extremely cheesy, pointless and unnecessary episode, that got us absolutely nowhere – sorry Chad

I thought that the epi. was okay. One thing that everyone needs to remember is that Chad wrote it. I think that everyone is trying to tie what happened in this dream to indicate something on the show but Chad wrote it, not Mark. Io know he said that some things will piece together and correlate with the show, but not everything.
And I don’t understand how this epi. was turned into a Brucas disscusion AGAIN!!! REALLY????? I agree… Plus Chad even said this was going to be cheesy because of the time and whatnot… it’s suppose to be like that, but everyone has their opinions but I personally liked it… but everyone has different tastes, it was cheesy but I liked it. But Chad did a great job writing it and to say for him to stick to acting is wrong to be, he put a lot of hard work into this… it took years… that’s disrespectful in my mind.

luvleyton i totally agree. i’m so sick of hearing some Brucas fans go on and on about how the show just “hasn’t been the same” ever since Leyton got together, and how Mark has ruined the show, and how all Brucas fans should stop watching the show just to show Mark how important the Brucas fanbase is, and how they should all write to Mark about WHY they love Brucas and why Lucas should have picked Brooke… blah blah blah… like give me a break. i understand that there are a LOT of people that aren’t happy about Lucas picking Peyton….
HOWEVER…. there are also JUST AS MANY PEOPLE THAT ARE HAPPY about it! Mark knew what he was getting himself into when he brought the triangle back up in the season 5 finale, he knew he couldn’t please everybody, and that he was going to have to let one fanbase down… that’s just the way it is. but just because some Brucas fans are bitter and don’t like watching Lucas and Peyton, that doesn’t mean that there’s anything wrong with the show itself and that Mark has screwed things up… because there are a LOT of us that are happy about the way it’s going!

As a Brucas fans, I’m peeved that the term ‘pretty girl’ was used on Peyton.
I have to say that I have learn to accept Leyton though Brucas will always be endgame to me.
However, I don’t like it that the writers & Mark likes to trivialize the Brucas relationship as nothing more than a meaningless relationship when we all know that what they had was so much more.

Ok at first i was surprise when I heard Lucas used the term pretty girl to peyton I automatically thought he use to call brooke that. But it was only in my mind for a minute until I came on here and see the reactions. Yes I would have liked it if he had called her something else but the truth is its just a term “pretty girl”. CMM did not mean to offend anyone. Besides BL been over since season 4 and people move on and Brook is not interested in BL anyways they are just good friends
And that 90210 bull…, if thats the case them 90210 stole it from many other shows before it. The scene was not even the same anyway, it was raining before going into the dream and it was still raining coming out of the dream. The person who started this is obviously a 90210 fan and not a OTH fan because if they were fan of both show …. would not have been said.

as someone said earlier… maybe the fact that Lucas said “pretty girl” to Peyton could be viewed as a good thing for Brucas fans. shortly after that, he told Peyton that he was working on the script for the movie, and that it was making him think about stuff, and Brooke was one of the things that he mentioned that he was thinking about. so maybe the whole “pretty girl” thing was just on his mind when he answered the phone… that COULD just mean that Brooke had been on his mind, you know?

totally agree tanje, “pretty girl” is a phrase used every day, all over the world! it’s not just exclusively a Brucas phrase lol. and as i said before, yes it caught me off guard, and i immediately thought of Brucas, but i think people are looking too much into it. yes Brucas fans may have felt that it was a slap in the face, but i think they’re the only ones that are thinking like that. clearly the writers wouldn’t try to intentionally slap any fanbase in the face. “pretty girl” is an extremely common phrase that Lucas should be able to use towards anyone, not JUST Brooke… that’s just my opinion about the whole thing

Sooo… I really wished I was on here last night with you guys, now eveyone is gone and I’ll be bitching with myself! At least I’ll win that arguement! lol OTH went from my favorite show to making me wish I had not seen that epi. and just watched Monday night football! I seriously never had one epi. effect me so much. I was not really looking forward to it in the first place, but then to reach out of the TV and rip my heart out-that was uncalled for! I read all of the comments here because I wanted to know just what everyone thought about the “Pretty girl” comment, and I have to say at first I was shocked, then pissed and now I’m just sad. I really wish I could extract this epi. from my brain and go back to where I did not think Lucas was a hack writer. We should have seen it comming, I just did not think it would hit me like a mack truck-and what makes the worst is that it came right from CMM. And yes I believe he did it to slap all of us Brooke fans. I’m really sad and disappointed about the spitefulness. I guess I really do not even understand why Brooke is even in the show anymore, IDK I don’t get it and there is nothing that is going to make me feel better about my favorite character getting the shaft. This has been a horrible week for “my chicks,” first Chloe’ and smallville getting f***ed over and now this.
How am I suppose to watch OTH today on The Soap channel with Lucas being all lovey with Brooke knowing this happens in their future…I feel sick!

Nimkong, i can see what you’re saying… i’m trying to put myself in your all’s shoes, and i can totally understand being upset. and i still don’t think that Chad or the writers purposely did it to slap Brucas fans in the face, why would they want to do that? but saying things like “i really do not even understand why Brooke is even in the show anymore”… i don’t really get that. there are other reasons for Brooke to be in the show other than her relationship with Lucas, that’s not the only reason she’s on the show, you know?

I am a Brooke fan, not a Brucas fan. I don’t want Brooke to end up with Lucas, I just like her as a character and I feel bad for her as I would feel bad for anyone that happened to. She doesn’t even know that he called her that, she has no idea. Anyway, everyone on here is saying that they don’t think that CMM had malice while writing it? I don’t begin to know what he was thinking when he wrote it, but it meant something or he would not have written, spades. And then for him to write for Dan to back hand her, and he also wrote that the back hand did not affect him either way because he did not even flinch when it happened. Even a stranger would have compassion for a chick who just got back handed, not Lucas though. And that is how he wrote it and directed himself. Sad.

Brooke and BL fans are used to having LP shoved down our throats. Most of us have accepted that LP is destined to be that most desirable of all OTH things – “endgame.”
But “Pretty Girl” was not a random thing said by Lucas to everyone. He did, for example, call Brooke “Baby Girl” on the phone once, I’m sure no one would object TOO MUCH if he said that to Peyton. But “Pretty Girl” was the equivalent of an OTH/CMM “screw you” to fans who still prefer BL. We have a right to still prefer BL, even if it’s never gonna happen. We can’t control that, but we still liked the past. Now, that too is being diminished, and for what? The whole episode was “Look How Great Lucas and Peyton Are.” The semi-trashing of Brooke is explained as “that’s how she kinda was Season 1″ but no one else except DAN was portrayed negatively from Season 1, and Peyton was NOTHING like she was portrayed. Ms Punk n Disorderly suddenly Ms Virginal Am I Pretty tee hee??? Nathan was suddenly good, too. But not Brooke. Coincidence? Doubt it.
And Chad told us they recycled lines. So he KNEW what he was doing. I’m sure he thinks it’s quite funny. Maybe Mark does too. Brooke wins poll after poll as the most popular character, but it’s still the all-Peyton all the time show, based on the preview.
I understand if LP and NH fans were happy with the show. But don’t pretend that it was actually GOOD or that BL and/or Brooke fans don’t have a reason to be unhappy about it. Clearly, Chad and/or Mark don’t care, so why do you? Let us have our discontent. You have the coveted “endgame” so be happy, why don’t ya?

I agree I think CMM is a spiteful git! First he outs Sophia and James to make himself look better and then this awful episode for Brooke, I mean does he have unresolved issues or what! I just think they really need to step up on stories for Brooke big time, Sophia is by far the most talented actor on OTH and shes being wasted, shes doesnt even get much interaction with Jamie anymore, which was so cute in Season 5. I dont care if shes with Lucas or not infact I think she deserves someone better, after all he has cheated on her, I just want her happy with someone else, Chase would have been good but according to spoilers hes someone elses too!

Bootsie, maybe I am misinterpreting what you said, but to me it seems as if you are saying that no one should like this episode. Personally, I really enjoyed it. As I said earlier, many of the portrayals were done that way as a kickback to the 40s film noir movement. Brooke was the femme fatale to a t, Peyton was the girl the “PI” (Lucas) falls for, etc. I do not think that CMM meant for any of this episode to portray how he thinks characters should be, nor as a way to disrespect Brooke/Brucas fans. I truly believe he has a passion for that era of film and wished to write something as an homage to both that era and to the past seasons of OTH. I am by no means saying that everyone will enjoy this episode–I know that this type of acting/plot line is very different from traditional OTH and is also hard for a lot of people to really get into. I wish everyone enjoyed this episode for what it was–a different, fun way to show that love lasts through all ages–but I’m not naive enough to believe that it will catch the attention of every fan.

Boostie, you said Brooke was protrayed as she did in season one, a bad person? explain that to me. Another Brucas fan in an earlier comment said that Brook was protrayed as Dans whore. But I disagree she owed Dan money which she browed for her fashion line that was her storyline and obviously she was protrayed as a GOOD person because she did not shoot lucas, she turned around and pointed the gun at Dan who was the villan in this episode and luke even said someday she is going to save the world or something like that.

LeytonTLA, i have to say, I have followed this blog a long time. I read every comment, but yours stand out the most. You want to defend your ship, fine…but let everyone else have the chance to say what they like to say. You always seem so rude and condescending. You think just because you say lol at the end of every sentence that it makes it ok. it doesnt. I am a huge brucas fan, but really…more than anything I am a even bigger OTH FAN!I just think that if the Brucas fans want to imagine that lucas will want brooke back, then so be it. Im happy for you that the couple you want together are in fact together. The reason I said that Brooke was the “villain” was because she was portrayed as the “woman scorned” who spitefully snitches on Dashing Lucas and Virginal Peyton, thereby setting in motion Virginal Peyton being dead in Dashing Lucas’ arms. She did it for money. Yes, she tried to shoot Dan in the end, but still, not that admirable. Peyton, on the other hand, no Angel in Season 1 either, is suddenly Virginal Innocent Peyton who every guy wants.
That whole “change the world someday” has become lame. I doubt we’ll ever get to see it. Instead, we’re gonna get all Lp all the time.
And the Pretty Girl was before the dream, so it is supposed to be reality, apparently Lucas thought so little of Brooke and their first “I love you” that he has assigned it now to his epic-mate.
Very discouraging and makes you feel like there’s no sense in believing in anything the characters do or say, cause they can be rewritten upon a whim, or out of spite, or as a screw you to those who still prefer BL, Brooke and Sophia.

Brooke/Brucas fans, at this point why wouldn’t you just try and focus on all of the good things going on in Brooke’s life? i mean she’s a “proud owner of a happy teen”, she just got offered a baby, she’s recovered from her dark phase from the attack, she’s starting to work on a new business/clothing line, we know that she’s going to start getting her love life back in order with Julian most likely, she’s content with her life and her friends… Brooke’s life is going pretty well right now, so why complain so much? i understand things aren’t going exactly the way that you all would like them too, but at the end of the day, Brooke is still happy… and i would think that that would be all that really matters

Bootise the episode was AU and there was so much in that wasn’t true to reality. And I actually don’t think Brooke was portrayed to be a villain. She was a victim of her circumstances and in the end she proved her heart by trying to kill Dan. And the scene where she gave the bum her last bit of money even though she was broke and need to pay Dan back. That right there is Brooke Davis.

Brooke sold out Lucas and Peyton for money to a murderous hoodlum because she was “a woman scorned.”
Brooke and Dan were the only Season 1 type characterizations that were “bad.” Nathan, Lucas, Haley, Peyton were all saints compared to her.
Chad even said that Brucas was the “catalyst” for the episode, and as the episode ended in tragedy, apparently we were SUPPOSED to think that Brooke caused the tragic ending of Perfect Peyton. Yes, Lucas said a few nice things about her, I mean after all, no one is ALL bad except Dan. But, her change of heart came too late to save Poor Peyton, didn’t it? She set it in motion due to jealousy and money. That is a villain to me. I maybe could’ve lived with it if the spiteful reassignment of Pretty Girl to Peyton hadn’t already happened in real time, but I doubt it.
I thought Chad might’ve been more generous to his ex to avoid exactly the kind of uproar that occured. Guess I was wrong, he was predictable after all.

I totally agree with all the Brooke supporters and having that special nickname “prettygirl” refer to Peyton was just mean. The prettygirl behind the red door will always be Brucas, we get that Luke loves Peyton but don’t ignore that Brucas was inlove in their own special way. Just as Peyton loved Jake and even Julian and Luke had love Lindsey, we fall inlove all the time and we don’t always have our happy ending, but we shouldn’t regret ever having love at all. And for Luke to call Peyton “prettygirl”, is as though he never love Brooke. Brooke will hook up with Julian and then Peyton will be jealous and Luke will be pissed because he doesn’t like Julian and I hope that Brooke and Julian have the love that Brooke deserves. Just because Luke thinks that Julian is trouble, doesn’t mean that he is. Julian is like Brooke and after “he” broke up with Peyton because of her longing love for Luke; he read the book and was interested, he was a struggling new movie producer, I don’t necessary think he wants Peyton back – not everyone wants Peyton. I think he and Brooke could be a good match, Brooke needs someone that is not Lucas, someone who can commit. And last nights epi – I felt no spark at all with Leyton, thank god we had Naley……….

again abcd, comparing “pretty girl” to “always and forever” isn’t a fair comparison. “always and forever” is something UNIQUE and special, it’s not something you hear every day, it’s exclusively used for Naley, and Naley only. i’ve never heard any couple in real life use that phrase. so yes, if Leyton were to use “always and forever”, then i can understand all of the Naley fans getting very very steamed about that. BUT “pretty girl” is NOT JUST a Brucas thing. i think the fact that it IS a very common phrase does make it not that big of a deal

abcd, I totally agree with you! If Leyton used ‘Always and Forever’ I would be completely pissed, as you can tell by my name I am a completely in-love with my Naley. And I was completely shocked and angered by Lucas calling Peyton ‘Prettygirl’ I mean that was just uncalled for. I mean why out of all the terms of endearment did he HAVE to call Peyton that?!! AlwaysBRUCAS you’re not reading/acknowledging the rest of my post. i NEVER said that Lucas says “pretty girl” to other girls on the show, i said that in REAL LIFE, that is a very common phrase… which it is… so it only makes sense for Lucas to eventually say it to someone else, because it is so common. AND i also NEVER said that i didn’t think of Brucas when he said it, i acknowledged that i did initially think of Brucas, but after a few minutes, i realized that maybe it isn’t that big of a deal, because TONS of people use that phrase… it isn’t exclusively Brucas and ONLY Brucas’ phrase. this is all just so drawn out and getting a little ridiculous lol

all i have to say to all of this is that obviously everyone cares enough because you all get on here and go on your little cyber rants.
lucas and peyton since the pilot, ask mark schwahn. he has said it before. but if you want brucas then that’s fine. everyone is entitled to their opinion.
but going on this blog and being rude to other people is not going to help anything, or change the story line.

I personally liked the episode and I think Chad did an amazing job!!! I loved the Naley stuff!! Brooke was hot as the femme fatale and while yes I did think the ‘Prettygirl’ line was a tad insensitive to Brucas/ Brooke fans, I don’t think Chad put it in there on purpose or to slap anyone’s face!! I thought Dan and Julian were excellent playing the bad guys and Peyton was funny as hell!! Lucas and Nathan were just plain sexy, sexy, sexy!!! Haley was amazing and blew the lid off the roof with her acting!!! NALEY ARE JUST PERFECT AS ALWAYS!!

I personally liked the episode. i think that Chad put a lot of effort into and did a great job. the story lines weren’t that good but i liked how it was set in the 1940’s. that really made it interesting for me! i loved naley and i loved leyton as always! dan was really freaking me out and chad, james, and i have to say austin were all looking really HOTTTT!!!

Naley was the epitome of romance in this episode and Chad really captured that beautifully. ♥ Plus, Joy absolutely KILLED it! She totally knocked it outta the ball park with her acting! Absolutely wonderful! She definitely did that era justice, for sure!
& all the cliche throwbacks were really cute and cheesy! I loove me some cheese
LP was also done beautifully. I loove how he brought back the “I’d gladly erase my dad if it could bring back your mom” Bridge!

im so surprised about all the comments talking about cheesy acting…it was set in the 40’s, maybe you should watch some films from back then and compare…not saying that as an insult, but you truly should…i think it well done for what they were aiming for. although i think it would have been even better if they could have stretched it out to a couple of episodes and give all of the storylines more time, but i know that would never work, especially considering how many people seem to have not enjoyed it. i personally did not view the episode as a filler, but as a treat. oth in a different world.

Appreaciate the era? I can’t believe that anyone would say that this was an appreaciation of the era. That was hardly an accurate, nor even decent representation of anything but a stereotype of the 40s. That was not an appreaciation of the era, and that certainly was not history. I am saddened by the fact that this would even be compared to history.
I am a oth fan through and through. I have loved the characters and this story since the very first episode and have never doubted the success of the show, but, in my opinion, that was unfortunately the worst episode of one tree hill that I have seen (and I have seen them all). I actually turned it off half way through I was so disappointed and had to force myself to watch the rest today.

whoaaaa Brucas…. chill out lol seriously. first of all, i DID acknowledge that “pretty girl” is a Brucas thing… anyone that watches the show knows that, and i acknowledged that! what i said was that i don’t think it should ONLY be considered a Brucas thing, and that is just MY OPINION… so sue me. so before you go on and on saying that “i’m out of my mind for not thinking that pretty girl is a Brucas thing”… you might want to read what i really said first, because i definitely did acknowledge that “pretty girl” is obviously something special between Brucas.
and secondly, yes Brooke said that she probably “always will love Lucas” when she broke up with him the first time… but it was AFTER THAT that her and Lucas acknowledged that the love wasn’t there anymore.. it was after the bball banquet! so yes, i do consider THAT scene as closure from both Brooke and Lucas. the fact that she said “i love you and i probably always will”, doesn’t mean that there wasn’t closure there, because she said that BEFORE they had that closure scene. and as far as the rest of your novel of a post goes, it’s not really worth responding to at this point. we’re never going to see eye to eye. you have your opinions about the triangle, and i have mine. if you think i’m rude… i don’t really care.

This is my favourite episode of season 6 so far. Leyton were cheesy but I still loved them. So obvious Peyton is going to be pregnant. I hope she is anyway. Leyton need a nice happy storyline.
