Van Der Beek a ‘blast from the past’ on ‘Tree Hill’ set

In Wilmington, actor James Van Der Beek will forever be known as Dawson Leery on “Dawson’s Creek.” That show filmed here for six years and became ingrained in the city’s film history.

Producers on another made-in-Wilmington teen drama, “One Tree Hill,” have often talked about the legend of “Dawson’s Creek” looming over them. While making their way through their own sixth season, they embraced the looming cloud and asked the actor to appear on their show.

Although Van Der Beek doesn’t play Dawson on “One Tree Hill,” his new character, Dixon, does have at least one huge similarity. Dawson was a movie fanatic who wanted to become a director. Dixon is a movie director.

i loved dawson and am glad mark brought him back to OTH but i thought the character dixon was a little over the top.. loved the episode over all though and cant wait until jan 5th to see how all these cliffhangers work out!! ps.. i didnt like the way they made owen be such a jerk to brooke when it was obvious how upset she was…
