Share Your OTH Story

OK, we’re officially in our winter break :( .  But I thought I’d keep some conversations going here and here’s my question…what’s your OTH story?  How did you start watching the show and what kept you going?  Have you been around since the beginning or were you a late bloomer like me?

I know I’ve told me story many times on here but Heather has watched from the beginning and kept trying to get me to watch it.  I kept putting it off thinking I was too old to enjoy the show (which we know is crazy because I was only 25 when it started).  I finally sat down at the beginning of season 4 with Heather’s DVD set of seasons one through three and ended up watching all of them within two weeks, one time staying up until 4am one night when my kids were at Grandma’s for a sleepover.  I kept telling myself…just one more episode, I have to see what happens.  I ended up watching 5 or 6 eps of season 4 online and then have watched every episode since then live.  I was a late bloomer, yes, but I’ve learned that no matter when someone starts watching, they’re just as committed and love the show just as much!

So….what’s your OTH story?

amy i was a late bloomer like you. i used to watch the odd episode after school but never really got hooked, then i saw that season 5 was starting here just before the summer and it looked really good so i went online, watched seasons 1-4 in a few days(i was on college holidays) then i wathced season 5 online and also week by week on tv. now i’m watchin season 6 online week by week. i got completely hooked and remembered why i liked it at school and couldn’t figure out why i never got hooked cause it’s an amazing show. i stayed up many nights until 4 or 5 just watching ‘one more episode’ and now i’m completely hooked. i made my sister watch it and she loves it too and now i’m workin on one of my other sisters. she’s promised me that some weekend we’re all free we’re having an OTH marathon, can’t wait!!!

my OTH story… i was watching Big Brother 08 during the school summer holiday and i seen the advert for season 5 and thought it looked amazing so i watched season 1-4 in a week staying up all night to watch it so i could be up to date when the next episode came on

  3. Leah Says:

I’ve been watching OTH since Day 1 in 2003 when the pilot aired.. I was a big CMM fan from Gilmore Girls and Dawson’s Creek so of course I had to see what this new OTH show was all about. I was hooked right from the pilot.. I was a 16 year old Junior in HS and felt like this show really targeted things that I or others were going through back in HS. So ever since the pilot aired I have watched every single OTH epi (I’ve seen seasons 1-4 epi’s at least 3 times each!) and I’ve been obsessed with the show ever since!! Also it’s nice because I’m about to be 22 yrs old so it’s like I’ve been on this OTH journey with the characters throughout the years and can easily relate because my age with the character’s ages have always been aligned!

  6. irishmolly Says:

it’s crazy cause i thought i was th only one who stayed up, i actually think i didn’t go to sleep until 7 one morning after staying all night watchin season 4. good to know there’s fellow oth fans who’ve pulled all nighters haha. it’s so addictvie though, you don’t feel the hours slipping by cause you’re so hooked

  7. Beej Says:

I started watching OTH when they were still on the 4th season. At first I was a fan of the OC, but when I watched OTH, I was like..OC what?? Hahaha. I’ve been obsessing about it ever since! I even got my MOM and some of my friends hooked!

    OTH is the best :)

  8. luvleyton Says:

I started watching OTH from the beginning (epi 6). I was pregnant with my first child and would go home every night from work and crash on the couch. I was skimming the channels and came across OTH. I beleive that it was epi.6 was the first one that I saw as it was running for the first time. I was hooked!!! I named my daughter Payton Brooke! (I spelled Payton different) I am currently on an OTH marathon during the break!!! :-)

  9. LeytonLove Says:

lol that’s cool luvleyton.. I also forgot to mention that my mom has watched OTH since day 1 as well when the pilot aired and she still continues to watch it!

  10. Natalie~Naley4ever Says:

I started watching OTH since the Pilot. To be honest I wasn’t gunna watch it at all, but it had basketball in it and I’m a huge basketball fan, and that was the reason why I watched the pilot..after a few episodes I really started to like it, and I’ve been hooked ever since and haven’t missed an episode yet! I love all the drama and relationships in it! Like, I know a lot of the stuff doesn’t happen in real life (or rarely does) but thats the awesomeness of OTH! Anything can happen! It always keeps you guessing!
I got my sister and her friends watching it after like the first season. They started watching it and they were soo confused with who was who, and who son was who’s. lol. It was kinda funny! I warned her that she had to watch it from the beginning to understand everything! I don’t think she ended up watching the first season but she is totally hooked on it now too!
    YAY for OTH!!

  11. othaddict Says:

I’ve never left a msg on this board before, but I come here often to read the scoops ( I can’t resist). I started watching last season,I had a friend who raved about the show, I think I caught one episode a long time ago the one where Peyotn and Brooke fight during there senior year and I thought oooh a stalker let me tune in. But I didnt get into it, just thought another teenage drama. But then I caught a couple of last season’s episodes and I had to find out the back story, so I bought all the seasons and watched them last summer so I could catch up and the rest is history!

  12. Lauren Says:

It was actually my mum that got me hooked in season 1, we were on our summer holidays and she said that there was this really good show on the tv that a should watch so we watched it and that was me hooked lol :D . I think it was mid way through season 1 and I just loved it. Now, I watch it online because season 6 won’t start in Scotland for months so I watch it online. I quite scary how addicted I am lol :D .

  13. kimh23 Says:

I have watched from the beginning. Im from Wilmington and was a DC fan and it’s cool to watch a show filmed in your hometown. I loved the show but it wasnt until Season 5 that I became obsessed! We go back to Wilmington every year but I had never been around when they were filming until this summer. They started filming early and so I was in town when they filmed epi. 2 in July. I also met Hilarie at a Wilmington Sharks game on July 1st (her bday) and she said this season was going to be good and was she sooo right!! My sister Lisa and I are hooked every week! No one can talk and if they do we rewind the Tivo!! :) I was also in town to see them filming Chad’s 1040’s episode and a few scenes from epi 12. Love me some James!! I watch alot of TV but I have never been so excited for the next episode as I am each week with OTH!!! I’m not sure I can wait until Jan 5th! I’m in OTH rehab until then! LOL

  14. Lily's poet Says:

I started watching it when it happens to be on the french TV, it was a saturday afternoon in 2004, by this time I was…hum 17 and it was the pilot of a new TV how named “The brothers Scott” literaly. I liked it but on this period I was more interrested in playing sports so I wasn’t a regular watcher/fan.
I came back to OTH at the end of season4, it was my first year after High School, I was a little bit nostalgic and I had to improve my english so I started to watch it online and never stop. It was funny cause as LeytonLove I had/have about the same age as the characters so it was/is easy to identify myself to them – even if, and thanks god, I don’t have all that drama in my own life :) -. In France, OTH is more considered as a teenager TV show, but even at almost 22, and after 6 seasons-OK, I don’t watch it for the beginning but I had somes OTH marathon for the past two years and I am currently on one other during the break as it seems many of you-, OTH stories still touch and inspire me.

  15. jelizabeth23 Says:

I’ve watched since the pilot, when I was a freshman in high school. I was flipping through channels and came to the ending where Lucas says “this is for my mom” and shoots the ball. I was a basketball player and huge fan so that caught my interest at first. Then the next part of an episode I saw was when Peyton ask Lucas if he wanted to come in and then he got rejected at the door. Immediately after that I was hooked! I’ve continued to watch every week and buy the dvd’s too. To say I love OTH does not even begin to describe it considering I hopped a plane with my best friend this summer to go to Wilmington by ourselves!

  16. Katie Says:

I became obsessed in 2006. That summer i was addicted to the O.C, and got really angry when OTH took over on E4, i remember my mum coming in from work asking what was on the T.V, and i said some rubbish (which i totally take back lol), it was the beach party episode in S3, and then i watched like 5 minutes of the election episode. Then i couldn’t stop watching it on the net. i made sure i got the first 3 box-sets for xmas, and then S4 was aired in 2007 and i haven’t missed an episode. Im even watching S6 on the net, i couldn’t wait for next year. Now so many things in my life relate to OTH, i end up quoting something everyday lol. it was all about the O.C, now its all about OTH

  17. MARTHA Says:

I ACTUALLY STARTED WATCHING IN SEASON 5. I GOT INTERESTED BECAUSE I SAW THE COMMERCIALS FOR THE PREMIERE AND I LIKED THE THIS IS OUR TOWN SONG, AND WHEN HALEY SAYS I CANT KEEP LIVING LIKE THIS. SO I WATCHED AND THEN I WAS HOOKED.

  18. Danielle Says:

The first time I ever saw OTH was actually April of 2008. I had just given birth to my son and I had 2 months off from work. His feeding were like clock work. SO everyday at 10am was feeding time so I would sit down with him and turn on the TV and sure enough OTH was on. So I started watching it….I believe it was the episode right after Keith died that I had came in on. Well anyways needless to say I was hooked from then on. I went online to watch all the episodes that I had missed….thank you SOAP network for the reruns!!! :) I do not miss my Monday nights for anything! lol.

  19. Christyanne Says:

Lets see how short my story can be, I have a BFF who started watching I think in season 2, I believe after watching 7th heaven or something. She had always tried getting me & a couple friends to watch, but I couldnt get into it. One day during the season 4 hiatus, I lost cable & was bored so I asked her to borrow DVD’s so once again she threw the whole “wanna watch One Tree Hill”, so I said FINNNNNEEEE… it took me like a week to finally get the DVDs into the player, & the 1st season, I took maybe 3, 4 days to get through, but then Hubby got into it & we watched the 1st season all over & this time within like 24hrs, then popped in #2 & finished that one in about 16 hrs, we wouldnt leave the house for nothing. Finally we had to go pick up #3, & I couldn’t wait to go get it, saw that & then was obsessed to watch season 4, so I looked everywhere & this was RIGHT before they started airing them online, I was able to watch maybe 2-3 eppys & then like the last 2 of the season, which was when Nate got the MVP of the team. So finally I was able to catch up & started watching from mid season 4… Hubby got hooked too & I couldnt believe it. & the rest is history…. Im IN LOVE with OTH, its like nothing else matters, all I care about is OTH.

I am a late bloomer in my 30s. I grew up on 90210, Melrose Place. Watched Buffy and Dawson’s and thought I was offer shows with teenage characters. I started watching over the summer. I was channel surfing because I was resting on the couch; my allergies were acting up. SoapNet had Melrose on and then OTH came on next. I always wanted to check it out so I watched it. It was a season 3 episode with the school shooting. I was hooked that day. I watched all the seasons on DVD and online in an effort to catch up before the start of season 6.

  21. Kayla Says:

Just like you Amy, I was a late bloomer too! My best friend Jennie kept trying to get to watch it from the beginning but I never had the channel and always just thought o well. Then the summer of 07 I had a misscarriage and had to have surgery and with alot of time to kill and saw it was on SoapNet and after that I got addicted! I bet I watched all four seasons in less than two weeks. Ever since then I have been absessed! I’ve seen every epidsode at least 3 times, went to Wilmington twice, and have all the DVD sets and everything.

  22. Fransel Says:

in the summer of 2003 i saw a preview for a new show coming out called One Tree Hill. I wrote down the day that it premiered (sept 23, 2003). That day i saw the first ever episode and have not missed one since :)

  23. Carolyn Says:

I have watched from the very beginning…my daughter was in the hospital and I was flipping the channel to keep myself occupied and came across it. It has always been my ‘guilty pleasure” show because I am waaaay past the target audience (I turned 40 this year) but i love it. My kids watch with me now although they see carefully edited versions. We visited Wilmington in October and I was like a giddy teenager.

  24. Rachel Says:

    late bloomer!!

I had friends who told me about the show, and even a roommate who would have me watch the first few minutes of an episode for her when she had class(during season 4). But I was an “OCer” and never really got into OTH.

Last season I had even more friends who were into it and decided I’d give it a shot, though Season 5, I had no idea who was who and what was going on and all the little throwbacks. However, I was going through a situation pretty much IDENTICAL to Lucas and Peyton and so the quotes and songs(with their lyrics) totally kept me coming back for more. One weekend I just went out and bought season 4, and understood a little bit more. For Easter, my mom bought Seasons 1-3 and I finished them all within two weeks. Like you, Amy, I kept telling myself “just one more” and then some huge anti-climatic thing would happen and I’d watch the following episode. So yes, I did it backwards, but it’s okay. I understand it all now! and I will always support Leyton for hooking me onto the show :)

  25. Honey Says:

I was also a late bloomer. i used to watch OTH here and there when it was on the WB and CW. then recently i started watching some episodes on Soap channel. i was watching tv and them a promo came up for seaason 6, and it said who will lucas choose to go to vegas. i like freaked out. so the next day i went shopping for things for my dorm and i passed my the dvd section in target. i saw season 5 and 4 so i bought them. i was seriously hooked. i think i finished them in like 3 days. some nites i didnt even go to sleep. my family thought i went crazy. so then i bought season 1-3 and loved them.

  26. Ashley Says:

I was a late bloomer I started in the 4th season aournd the 6th or 7th eposide . But I bought all of the other season and was caught up in about 8 months to a year . I have watch ever since and I have seen every eposide atleast 6 times I am obsesed with this show .

  27. Steven Says:

If you compare the two dates: the one when OTH first aired in the U.S.(2003) and the one i began to watch it(october 2007) you would say i am a late bloomer. But in fact i’m not. Because 7 th October 2007 was the date when OTH first aired in Germany, my home country. Soon i became kind of an addict. But the luck wasn’t on my side. OTH got canceled in germany. Now i had to made a decision. Drop it or watch it in english. So OTH became the first series ever i watched in english. Within 2 and a half months i watched season 1-4.

  28. charlene aka (Cha Cha) Says:

Well I’ve been an OTH watcher from the beginning :) I just loved Chad as Charlie Todd on dawsons creek and when I saw that he was going to be on this show I was like Ok I have to watch this and I’ve been hooked ever since…totally addicted lol…and when their on break I watch my box sets when I can…and I to onced stayed up till 2 in the morning…I just did’nt want to stop watching lol…and I’ve been keeping myself going all week watching my new s5 box set which was suppose to be my christmas gift but oh well I could’nt wait lol…I hate this long wait… can’t wait till January 5 :D

  29. Heather L. Says:

I was a late bloomer. I was at home on New Years Day 2008 and SoapNet ran a marathon of some of the season 4 episodes. After 10 minutes I was hooked. I sat there for hours watching. They started reairing season 1 the next day and I started taping it on my DVR and watching it every afternoon. After a couple of days my patience was not holding out and I ended up at Target one day and they had every season on sale. I bought all of them and took them home and had a marathon that weekend. I literally only left my bed/sofa for food and bathroom breaks. I have been addicted ever since. I have “corrupted” my mother and a few of my closest friends as well. In March we took a weekend trip to Wilmington and did the studio tour as well as visiting all of the filming sites like Brooke, Peyton, and Lucas’s homes as well as the rivercourt. My friend Michelle and I are obsessed. Michelle is 40 and I am 31 and we have no shame. We openly confess that we love OTH and are still trying to figure out what we will do one it eventually ends, but at this point we are just trying to figure out how to get through the next 5 weeks.

i was a late bloomer i started watching it only like a year and a half right after season 4 ended. i absolutely looovveee CMM so one day i decided to record it just because hes in it. i watched it and immediately became hooked and then next week i went out and bought all the seasons..:)

  32. salma Says:

i was relatively a beginner i started watching it in season 2 religiously i watched the season 1 finale and i was like omgoodness but i watched seasons 2-4 and i really liked brucas because i never watched the development of leyton in season one and when i got around to watching season one i already had my brucas bias…lol. but i finally understood why everyone thought leyton was the “it” couple…lol and i also realized i made this a brucas leyton thing sorry i didnt mean to do that lol…

  33. GermanGirl Says:

well my story is a little sad so they started showing OTH Season 1 this year for like the third time in Germany and if ihadnt been on summer break from univerity i would never had a chance to watch (it was on at like 10 am)
i found out that the suiss showed season 5 and so i watched 1-4 online and then every saturday one episode of season 5 and it just finished at the end of august so i just waited like 3 days to see the first episode of season 6
    ;-)
i am sorry for all my mistakes but right now i am trying to write my french paper… so sorry#

  34. Honey Says:

Not making any judgments or anything, but most of leyton fans are late bloomers. because leyton really started to happen in seaosn 4. i also started watching season 4 and the only reason y im not a leyton fan because peyton was a horrible friend to brooke and i hated how she tried to justify what she did to brooke. and i hated seeing brooke hurt. sorry if im a little defensive, just watched like 30 brucas clips. lol. MY opinion, not trying to start a fight.

  35. Kylie Says:

My story is….I got addicted to The OC and because The OC and One Tree Hill were rivals I didn’t want to watch One Tree Hill….as stupid as that sounds. But then after season one The OC got rubbish I and decided I would watch an episode of One Tree Hill and from then on I was hooked, I caught up with the episodes and have been addicted ever since and could not understand why I thought The OC was so great when I compare it to One Tree Hill.
One Tree Hill is awesome, I amainly watch it for Naley but I love all the characters.
    :-)

  36. tanje Says:

season 1, peyton almost run lucas over, “your art matters” I also thought it was better than the OC

  37. Natalie~Naley4ever Says:

Honey- I like the way you put that! I am not a huge Leyton fan, and I could never really understand why..but now that you say that, it makes a lot of sense to me! I’ve always liked Brookes character more than Peytons, as well as Brucas better than Leyton. But well said!

  38. Nat Brat Says:

I started watching it from it’s first episode. I loved it and have not missed one episode since. My husband would make fun of me for watching it and one day he got home from school and started watching the school shooting episode. He totally got into it and has not missed an episode since then. Then last season I got my sister to finally watch it as well and she caught up on soap net. It drove her nuts as to what happened to the point where the new season was so one day I took 3 hours and told her everything she needed to know. I love One Tree Hill!

  39. Natalie~Naley4ever Says:

Kylie- I actaully thought the opposite of you, I was (am) a huge OTH fan, so that is why I never watched The OC, but me and my friend started watched the DVDs of The OC and we were hooked to it too and I ended up buying the box series when it ended. But still never beat out OTH! :)

  40. Megan Says:

I started watching season 1 from the very beginning, I watched periodically and didnt get hooked until season . I was a WB kid so I was watching all the other shows, Dawsons Creek, Gilmore Girls, Reba, 7th Heaven, Buffy and such and I remeber seeing preveiws for it when it was getting ready to start, so I watched with my older sister and we both got hooked on it. We live several states away now, but we still watch it together via AIM, and talk about the show while it is on. And anytime that we are in the same place we stick the dvds in and watch old episodes together. I just bought her season 5 for x-mas to complete her collection. We havent been hooked on the same show since Friends, and i think this may be the last show that we watch together like we did Friends. But it keeps us together one night a week, especially since life is soo hectic for both of us with her work and im now finishing my final year of school. I hope they come back for a 7th season so that we can have one more year of. I love One Tree Hill!

  41. Mary Says:

I am a late bloomer too. :) When i was in high school my ex boyfriend would tell me about this show. I never thought it was my kinda show. Till I saw one of the episodes of season five and i liked it so i did my best to find all the episodes online and from then it became one of my favorite shows. :)

  42. Kathie Says:

I had never seen One Tree Hill. Then one Chirstmas seasons 1, 2, and 3 went on sale and I decided to buy them for my niece for Chritmas. At the time I was not in a good place. My oldest son Tom was stabbed to death in a fight with a friend and to be honest I just didn’t care much about anything. My niece brought season 1 for me to watch and I thought I would give it a try since I was not much in the mood to do anything else. I have to say I was hooked right from the start. I missed sleep and it brought me out of a depression. I feel like Mark has dealt with death like no other television show. I love everything about the show and it gave me more joy than I had felt in a long time.

  43. Honey Says:

Kathie i am sorry for what happened to your son. i am happy though that you found refuge in OTH. the storylines are stories that many people can relate to. i love OTH, i hope it never ends.

  44. leytonlover4ever Says:

I am much much older than most of you but got hooked through my daughter. She and I started watching something to something together as mother and daughter because we generally like the same kinds of shows and movies. We started watching from the pilot and have watched it ever since. We love it and are totally hooked. We now have my son and his girlfriend watching. My son is 23 so its funny to see him watching because I never expected a guy to sit and watch something like this but he and his girlfriend along with my daughter and granddaughter come over every Monday evening for dinner and then we watch the show. My granddaughter only watches the DVD’s with me, the show comes on too late for her to watch but she too loves the show. She’ll tell me grandma your people are on and she even knows the characters’ names. I think its so great. My daughter and I are planning a trip to Wilmington at the end of February or early March to watch filming if filming is still going on.

  45. Hilarie Burton Fan Says:

My one friend would constantly talk about it. So I bought the DVD’s but didn’t watch them for the longest time. Because I watched the pilot and It was so boring. Then my mom was watching it one day, at the beginning of season 3, with the whole Ellie/Peyton ordeal, and I had no Idea what was going on with that. So I soon began watching it and was instantly hooked. I finished watching season 5 on DVD the day the season 6 premier aired.

  46. Sandy Says:

My friend always obsessed over One Tree Hill. One day in april i went to her house and we watched a couple episodes. From her house I went straight to Best Buy to buy my own seasons (1-4) of One Tree Hill. I ended up watching all of the seasons in a week and a half! I couldn’t stop. I stayed up till 4 a.m just watching! Then during every monday i would try my best to follow along with what was happening on One Tree Hill. In the summer i bought Season 5, and I finished it in about 2 days. Then my friend told me that One Tree Hill films in Wilmington, and I was going to be in Myrtle Beach that summer. Therefore, I went down to Wilmington (during my trip to Myrtle Beach) and I bumped into James Lafferty and Sophia Bush in Kilwin’s Ice Cream Store! It was the best moment of my life. From that time in April to now, I am completely in love with One Tree Hill! Actually, this March Break I will be taking my friend and myself down to Wilmington to hopefully meet the One Tree Hill cast and to see the sets and so on. I love One Tree Hill!

  47. Helen Says:

    Late Bloomer as well.

Um, well I was only about 10 when it started so it was a bit “mature” for me at the time. But, I had seen about the first three episodes, it didn’t catch my attention. I had often caught a few random episodes from different seasons on tv and seen clips and stuff.
But, my fave ever show: ‘Instant Star’, had just been announced for cancellation this year and I was looking for something to replace it. I had been watching gossip girl and didn’t find it great enough to fill the Instant Star void, lol.

But, I’d heard of OTH and I knew it already had a lot of my fave music in like foo fighters and I knew SB was in it BIG PLUS for me, I love Sophia. So, I started watching OTH, in the summer holidays. It was on every single day, season 5 had not come out yet in the UK. So, I bought all the box sets and watched them all straight away and then tuned in for season 5 in the UK. I then got 3 friends hooked and we have mini marathons all the time!

  48. Kelsey Says:

Well my friend’s brother got her hooked who got me hooked. Everytime I would go to her house she would be watching One Tree Hill and it got on my nerves sooo bad and I wouldn’t be able to get her away from the tv and she kept trying to get me into it but I just kept saying how I hated the show. Then she lent me her season 1 box set and I took it with me on my 18 hour car ride to Wisconsin (i live in Georgia)and since I had nothing else to do I started watching OTH. Well I couldn’t stop so the during the whole car ride I watched all of season 1. Then I couldn’t find seasons 2 and 3 in WI and I knew season 5 was coming on soon so I read the transcripts for seasons 2 and 3 in a week then I bought Season 4 on itunes and watched it the whole ride home. I later bought and watched seasons 2 and 3 as well. Last September when we had a break from school my friend and I took a trip to Wilmington and got to be extras, we were sooo excited and were very lucky because we got to sit with chad, hilary, sophia, bethany, jackson, lisa goldstein, and ashley rickards it was AMAZING!!!

  49. abby Says:

hm, ok so I started watching gossip girl when it started and I always new one tree hill came on after it i just never watched it. back in like may or so I started watching the episode that came on after it so i never understood it. well over the summer I had nothing at allll to do, so I just watched every single episode online and pretty much never got off until I finished. haha. I lost like 4 days of sleep doing it but it was worth itt :)

  50. Kaitlin Says:

I’m sort of a late bloomer.

I watched the first season when it aired on TV, but then left for college, and it was hard to keep up with it. Especially when it started switching nights. So I stopped watching it for a few years, then came back in the middle of season 3, exactly when they killed Keith and I decided I couldn’t handle watching a show that killed him off.

Then this year when it started running on Soapnet I got re-hooked and decided to go back and catch up on everything I had missed. I have now seen every episode, and just love love love this show.

If any of you get a chance, check out twiztv.com because they have full scripts, and if you read the entire script to “Some You Give Away” you’ll realize (as if you didn’t already, ha!) that Mark Schwahn is a great writer.

I wasn’t in love with it from the first episode but about 3-4 episodes in I was totally hooked. And i’ve made most of the friend watch it too in Canada and they all LOVE it.

I’m a late-comer to OTH. In New Zealand it always screens on a Sunday afternoon. I didn’t really watch it when it was on. I would be doing something else at the time but would often have the TV on in the background. I watched bits of it now and then and was intrigued by the show’s title (which does have a connection to New Zealand – Mark Schwahn was listening to the U2 song of the same name when he needed a title for the show. That song is dedicated to a former New Zealand roadie for U2 who’s home town is Auckland, New Zealand which has a prominent landmark (extinct volcano) called One Tree Hill and features in the music video). I remember thinking to myself “this show looks good and I should probably watch it but I can’t tell what it is all about.” I recognized Chad from Dawson’s Creek and House Of Wax. This must have been over a long period of time because looking back I now recall bits of episodes where Rachael was introduced (early season 3), Ellie and Peyton disagreeing over the Cure’s best album (best band ever!) episode (mid-season 3), the post-shooting cabin in the woods episode (late season 3) and the psycho-Derek holding Peyton and Brooke hostage episode (late season 4). Late last year (after season 4 had long finished) I bought seasons 1-3 on DVD on a whim assuming I would like the show which proved a correct decision as I was hooked. I watched the seasons very quickly and watched season 4 online all in time for January when season 5 aired and I have been up to date ever since and listen to all the podcasts and check this blog several times a day. This is definitely a show you have to watch from the beginning I think in order to understand what’s going on and appreciate all the relationships. Another show on Sunday afternoons I didn’t watch at the time was Gilmore Girls – again a show where watching a one-off episode will leave you clueless. The same logic has applied – I thought it would be a show I would like and Lorelai Gilmore is such an attractive, bright and breezy character that just lights up the screen that you can’t help but be hooked. Now working my way through all the DVDs and am halfway through season 5. No better way to relax than watching a couple of Gilmore Girls episodes in the evening and pondering why I wasn’t born and raised in Stars Hollow rather than the miserable town that is my reality.

  56. OTHFREEK23 Says:

I actually never started watching until season 5! I was flicking through the channels one day and I have never heard of one tree hill. When I seen it I never realized until after that it was the 5th season I thought it was a bran new show. So after Lucas and Lindsey’s wedding it was my spring break while the show was breaking so I decided to buy the other season’s to see them! After a one tree hill non stop marathon ALL my spring break last year I was ALWAYS online looking at OTH sites such as this one and I have been a othaholic ever since!! And a MASSIVE LEYTON/NALEY/BRACE FANN!!!!

    ONE TREE HILL IS AMAZING!!

    Hi Amy,

Well where do I start? I began watching OTH from the very beginning.

Ironically enough, I was living in Jacksonville NC, which is only an hour from Wilmington. I was there because my husband (now ex) was a Marine stationed at Camp LeJeune.

I begun having problems with my ex, and so what did I do? I drove to Wilmington, and I watched filming happening. I stayed there a few times to get away from my ex, and I enjoyed everything about OTH from the very beginning.

In fact, it helped me through my divorce, and I know it’s because of my favorite couple being together. LOL. I am now and always will be a die hard fan of Brucas. It gave me hope that when one cheats, the relationship can work out, but that is not always the case.

Either way, I moved back home to Jersey, and to this day I visit Wilmington on a yearly basis. I hope to move there one day, because without OTH, I would never be the person I am today.

It was this show and town, that saved me and helped me through the tough times.

Anyone who took the time to read this, thanks. :-)

Add me on myspace if ya want. http://www.myspace.com/daniela1683

    Looking forward to January. :-)

I have watched since the beggining. I wasnt that impressed at first. It seemed a little lame and i didnt like Peyton or Nathan. But i was a fan of CMM from dawsons creek. I was surprised how good the show became. its so different and always entartining and surprising. I love the characters. I am still not a big fan of Peyton (but shes grown on me) and have lost the love for CMM but i still love the show.

  59. OTHFREEK23 Says:

When I started to watch the seasons it took me maybe 3 or 4 days to finish season 1. And the night I finished season 1 it was 12 midnight so I went to bed taking season 2 with me to bed and it got so good that I stayed up all night to watch it.I stated at 12 midnight and I finished at 2:30 in the afternoon the next day! And as soon as I was finished with the first two seasons(dad’s deal was to buy the first two getting the next two later) I told him he had to make a special trip so I could get the next two in the nearest town the next day because where I live we dont have a store that sells them and I mannaged to finish all 4 in about 2 weeks!

  60. LaurenLovesOTH4ever Says:

Yea I was a late bloomer. My best friend has been watching the show since day one, and during the summer she would watch all the reruns over and over again. Thats what got me hooked. We watched a rerun together and after that I watched every single episode. I watched Seasons 4-6 live and absolutely love them! The first 3 seasons didnt take long to watch at all haha. I love OTH so much.

  61. Dee Says:

I was a mid-bloomer. I started watching while the first part of season 3 was airing. I actually never watched it on TV b/c I live in Canada, and depending on where you live, it’s hard to find a reliable source that plays all the episodes. A friend suggested it b/c she knew I liked The O.C. and thought I would like this, so I went out and bought the first season. [Note: I stopped watching the O.C. after I fell in love with this show!!] I was so hooked, I think I stayed up until 4am and then was upset b/c I didn’t have season 2 to watch, so I woke up real early the next morning, went out and bought it and continued on. I haven’t stopped loving it since!

  62. Alyssa (Tutor Girl) Says:

I am surprised at the number of “late bloomers” there are, but I guess that is why ratings have been so good this season. If only the network would have adverstised better in the earlier seasons…

I guess I am one of the few that started watching from the very beginning. I wasn’t a fan then, I hated when I would see previews for the pilot because it was taking Dawson’s Creek’s timeslot. I was a major “Creeker”, but I loved CMM from DC and Gilmore Girls. So, I “watched” the pilot, hoping to find a reason to hate it. I wasn’t a fan at first, I resisted. I remember watching a few episodes here and there for a couple of seasons. I didn’t think it was anything super-special. I was like in 8th grade in the 1st season and at that time I was watching all the other WB shows like Gilmore Girls, Smallville, 7th Heaven, and Everwood…. Then slowly I started becoming more and more interested in it. I remember thinking it was more of a guilty pleasure show, then something I would actually admit that I liked. I laugh about that now, because I have gotten so many of my friends to watch it lol. Then came the third season! The best season IMO. During that season I had Driver’s Ed classes on OTH nights :( … I remember missing the beginning of a lot of those eps… At the end of season 3 when Leyton reemerged I fell in love with them so much♥… during that summer hiatus I bought the DVDs and watched as a true fan :) … haven’t missed an episode since ;)

  63. Danika Says:

I was a late bloomer. Like really late. LOL!
Anyways, my friends had started watching the show during the first season and told me about it. I didn’t really think it sounded that interesting, so I just didn’t watch it. Then, I ended up catching a couple of episodes on TV. As soon as I watched the first episode (which was the one where Haley is on tour and Nathan goes to visit her) I was hooked. I didn’t know anything about the show, but I already loved it. Sadly, they stopped showing it (its a canadian station, what do you expect?) Then, just last year , my parents got me the first season on DVD for christmas. It took me 2 days, but I finished it. I was hooked!!! Its funny though, because I barely remember the episode I watched on TV except for the Naley scenes. I remember them so well. Naley made me want to keep watching the show. And thats what they continue to do. :D

  64. Lizzie Says:

I only started watching OTH in june this year. I was on my mid semester break at uni and had nothing do to and nothing to watch so I went on surf the channel and I saw a banner for OTH, I had heard about the show but never wacthed it. So I watched most of 5.18. I started to like it so I began to watch season 1. I loved that so I went out and bought the dvd’s and downloaed season 5. Now I’m in love with the show.
The main reason I love the show is because of Nathan and Haley. They have always been my favourite couple and I love them. i also love the show because of the relationships, I love Dan, and I love Brooke and Haley. I wish we had more scenes with them too.

  65. Taylor Says:

I was a late bloomer too. It all started when there was an open casting call, at our local mall in Cary, NC, and I went to be an extra. I ended up getting it and went on Halloween in 2006 to film the state championship episode. So I went, hadn’t watched a single episode, just to see what it would be like to be in a TV show. Well when I got home I knew I was going to watch the one I was in, and I didn’t want to be completely lost. So I bought the first season, then the second, and the third and caught up on the fourth online. I could not stop watching it, I WAS HOOKED. I now never miss an episode and being fortunate enough to live 2 hours away from Wilmington visit as often as possible to try and meet some of the cast. So far all I have left is Hilarie and Joy. One Tree Hill will always be my favorite show and will “Always and Forever” hold a special place in my heart!

I live in england, and i was just flicking through the channels and found the episode in season 3 where lucas was escorting peyton to see ellie, and was raving about brooke to his friend. So i was confused what peyton was to lucas and really liked how they were too eachother. Its hard in england to follow the times and seasons because theyre always playing episiodes similtaniously from all seasons. So i mentioned to my boyfriend about it and he baught me the first season which i got through in a day and night lol, then encouraged him to get me the second, then my best friend got me the third. I watched through them all with the boxsets very quickly (and yes i share the obsessive watching and dreaming about it too LOL) and watched every clip available on youtube for s4, then when my boyfriend screwed me over my mum baught me s4 for what i hadnt seen on you tube. Thennn i realised s5 was out caught most of that on you tube too. Then come s6 i was hooked on this website and fan forums and have watched it all so far on surfthechannel!
    :)

I started watching oth totally coincidentially, I got netflix last summer and watched the OC and loved it, and so after I finished that, I got recommended from netflix to watch OTH and I was like, okay, i’ll watch it. So I started watching it, and I loved it after the first few episodes, and I was hooked on it. I watched the next 4 seasons and by the time i finished season 4, season 5 had already had 9 episodes so I watched all of those in one day and then started watching it on tv. Now, Im completely obsessed with the show, I can usually say where I heard a certain song and in which episode and I devote many hours to one tree hill everyday by both rewatching it, and reading/writing fanfictions. I love this website, so thank you amy and heather for doing this since it helps with the void of oth for the next few weeks. Im really hoping to be able to go to wilmington this spring and meet the cast since I love this show so much!!!!

    Mines pretty funny!

I started watching OTH when season 3 was airing.

I went to my friends house after a basketball game, for a a huuuge team sleepover! Now my friend was IN LOVE with OTH cause her sister got her hooked. So as were all gathered around shes like “lets watch OTH!” and im like “OMG Please nooooo, not another stupid teen show, please ughh!” and Shes like no it’s different! So i go fiiiine! ONE EPISODE! immediately when she puts it on i start asking questions like “is that actress related to the president?” “why are they together?” “why arent these two friends?” And my friend kinda laughed cause she could tell i loved it ! We ended up pulling an all nighter and basically finishing the first half of season one. I went home the next day and i got my mom to go out and buy season 1 with me. Once we did, we watched 2-3 episodes every night, then we bought season 2! Once i was finished, i got season 3 off ebay (the first 13 episodes or so) and then i tuned in to the TV to watch the rest of season 3! The day where she showed me OTH, my life was changed forever! Love at first site :)

  70. LEYTON&NALEY Says:

I always knew that One Tree Hill existed, but never has an interest to actually watch it. 3 or 4 years ago, I was flipping threw channels and I stopped at One Tree Hill. I stopped and watched it because nothing was on. It was one of the many episodes at Tric, but thats all I remember (obviously at the time I didnt know they were at TRIC, but now remembering back I now know). I knew I was watching OTH because I saw Chad & Sophia, and I knew of them from other movies and knew that they were on OTH. After that episode, I never thought of it or watched it again.

Last March while being at a friends house, I saw that she had an episode of One Tree Hill on her computer. My other friend who was there said how much she loved OTH. We all started watching that episode. It was kind of boring because it was an early season 1 episode. I think it was episode 8, which was im pretty sure the first time Haley & Nathan started talking. After that night, I went home and started watching OTH a week later. I was sooo hooked! I caught up (to season 5 episode 13, where new eppys started playing) in less than a month! And now I am a hugeeee NALEY and LEYTON fan. I’m sooo obsessed.

  71. Angela Says:

Alrighty. Where shall I begin. Oh yes, One Tree Hill. I have been watching the show since it premiered on the WB in 2003. It was like 4 weeks into my freshman year of high school and I had just turned 15 like 4 days beforehand. I was really excited because of Hilarie being in the show. I remember watching MTV and all of her interviews right after she had become a VJ. Then, I watched the pilot and was all excited because Joy was in it and I remember watching her on Guiding Light which my mother always watched. She’s a hard-core soap fan. So, I’ve been watching the eps ever since then. I went up to Wilmington a few times, checked out the school and surrounding metropolitan areas for college purposes. Then this past summer my mother and sister and I rented a vacation house in Wilmington for 8 weeks because we fell in love with the town. There’s just something so charming about the seaside town. So, when August rolled around and I was packing my car so we can get a move on since I had to get back to give tours of my Univeristy to incoming kids, my mother was like so, have a good trip back Angela! and I’m like, say what? Why? And she’s like well, I decided to buy a house. I’ll show you. To make a REALLY long story short, they moved into Bay Colony in Wilmington. I’m so in love with the hot neighbor dude it’s not even funny. So since then, I go back almost every other weekend thanks to frequent flyer miles and much dedication on my part. Met some of the cast along the way, and have become an even bigger fan due to how hospitable they are and their good restaurant recommendations.

I also was a late bloomer. I actually was on Youtube and was looking for a music video but accidentally clicked on a OTH video that was made from the 316 episode. And I was so touched by it. I ended up finding the full episodes of 316-320 on Youtube and was hooked. I tried to look for 321-322 but couldn’t find them. I was soo mad so I gave up, Lol. Months later season 4 aired, so I found myself watching and was hooked again. I really liked Lucas and Peyton chemistry and really wanted to know their back history and I heard season 1 was coming to SOAPNET soon, so I just watched it that way instead of going out and buying all the DVDs. It took FOREVER to get EVERYTHING!! Geez I was too cheap then  But after catching up on everything. It only deepened my love for LP. And then season 5 happened!!  but sometimes you have to go there to get to where you are now. Anyway, It’s the only show I truly invests in. OTH.LP is LOVE♥

I watched him on GG as as Tristan and Charlie on Dawson’s and he was awesome! i fell in love with him right then lol… but i became distracted and I don’t know why i didn’t get into OTH way soon than I did… now i love it to death! I like alot of people on here am a late bloomer. I was to young to watch it when it first started cause i was only in the 3rd grade. This last year one of my best friends made me watch the 1st season and after i finished it was begging for the other seasons. She only had the first and second season so i went out and bought the other seasons and i watched them in like 1 week and have been addicted ever sense. It was in the middle of the fith season when i caught up so i missed a little of it but that was okay. I am so glad my friend introduced it to me! And now i am a leyton fan forever!

  77. Brucaslover Says:

The 1st episode I saw was season 2 season finale, i was kinda lost so I started getting hooked in the 3rd season a few episodes before the school shooting episode. Maybe thats why I always loved Brucas because Season 3 was their season. And so ever since I started watching, and ever since season 5 I cant miss an episode i became even more dedicated cause the show was reinvented and I loved it. But i’m caught up, I’ve been caught up actually and I love all season all couples and all storylines. OTH is the ****. haha

  78. Alyssa (Tutor Girl) Says:

leytonfatilltheend, I completely understand your story because I was too young to watch Dawson’s Creek when it first aired … I got into it when I was like in 5th or 6th grade and had got into it and it wasn’t until like the last season (season 6) that TV on DVD was like created or whatever, and there wasn’t any episodes online as if I had a computer then… I became a devoted fan without even knowing how the story started lol…

  79. Christy Floyd Says:

    Late Bloomer….

Ok, I remember a few years back seeing a couple of their episodes on and watched them, but never got a chance to really watch the show with the crazy work schedule I used to have. So this year on New Year’s Day there was a OTH marathon on Soapnet and I watched it all the way through. Of course I had to flip back and forth for awhile between some of the bowl games in college football. But for the most part I watched just about all episodes.

The very next day I went to Best Buy and bought season one on DVD and I would say I finished it within 2 1/2 days. I would literally sit up watch the episoded till 2-3 am in the morning knowing I had to get up around 6:30am to get ready for work. It was just too hard to turn it off, once I was hooked, I had to keep going. By the middle of Feb of this year I had bought all 4 seasons and anixously waiting for season 5 to start.

Since the 1st of the year, I have been to Wilmy 3 times. Once in April for the charity game and then twice in Sept and extra’d both times I was there in Sept. The 1st trip to Wilmy in Sept was at the beginning of the month and my 1st night there, my friend and I were at Rize (a bar at the corner of Princess and Front St) if I’m not mistaking and ran into James (Nathan). I had the opportunity to sit next to him and talk to him for about 5 min. I also managed to get a hug from him, and I must say that right there made my trip there worth while , whether I extra’d or not I was satisfied! He was there with about 3 of his friends and Lee wasn’t one of them that night. Both times I extra’d in Sept where in scenes with Hilarie (Peyton) one of them was with Austin (Julian). They are all very nice and down to earth people. I’ve been hooked ever since. It’s one BIG ADDICTION that I don’t think I can STOP!!!

  80. LPtrue♥always™ -- "besides...Who wouldn't fall in love with you, P. Sawyer?" Says:

:D I really enjoyed everybody’s OTH Stories. I see it’s a lot of late bloomers. But its okay. I know in 2003-05 wasn’t a good time in my life to be watching anything on TV. Maybe that coulda been my outlet, but I’m thankful for the show now and that’s all that matters. ;)

  81. SiReNuh Says:

I started watching OTH probably the second or third episode into the first season. I was flipping through the channels and saw Hilarie Burton who was one of my fav VJs at MTV and was like wtf and flipped back. I watched the rest of the episode and as they say, the rest is history. There were times when I couldn’t really watch, but I got all the dvds and have done the staying up all night thing. Its def one of my favorite series and I have hooked a couple friends. I always tried to explain the show to my them, but since the relationships can be a little complicated at times, it wasn’t til recently that my bffs have caught on. And now they’ve gone and bought all the dvds and call me asking me questions all the time.

  82. Nina Says:

So, I’m a late bloomer, but not way too late. I remember it very vividly. I was in ninth grade, the start of the third season. Basketball season was just about to start, so conditioning was just about to end. We had our first open gym (scrimages) on a Monday, two days before a new episode would air (back in the good old days when Wednesday night was One Tree Hill Night). Well before open gym, i went to my friend/teammate’s house to get ready for open gym. We had some time to spare so we flipped on the TV. She said that there is this great show that she is obsessed with and the most recent episode was amazing. So she turned on a Multitude of Casualties (the midnight madness episode of season three) that she had on her TiVo. I got so in to it. Throughout the episode, she would explain a bunch of stuff to me (The blonde, Haley, and the hot guy with the dark hair, Nathan, they got married when they were Juniors and are on the rocks. Chad Michael Murray, aka Lucas, and Nathan are half brothers. they share the same dad, stuff like that). Just like that, she had me hooked. As soon as i went home, I set a season pass for One Tree Hill on my TiVo. Since I knew the general synopsis, it was not hard for me to catch on. I remember not long after that, they had a mid season hiatus in which they showed all of season three up to then. I continued to find so many amazing things about the show. A few episodes after i started watching, i even noticed one scene where Haley was in the recording studio with Chris and she was wearing the exact shirt that i had worn just days before (a green american eagle shirt with a stitched in monkey saying Hello. It was several of these small things that i continued to notice that made the shoe more and more great. During winter break, i had nothing to do, so that same friend let me borrow season one and then season two. it took no time to get through all of them. most of my freshman winter break was spent on the couch doing nothing but watch my new favorite show, One Tree Hill. A month or two later, still watching the show regularly, i decided to buy season 1 on dvd. For my birthday that year, my sister gave me season two. and very shortly after, season three came out on dvd. i had to get it. My friend had been able to get spoiler alerts from a cousin or something, so i knew a lot of what was going to happen in up coming episodes. I went through the first half of season four, and even still, becoming more and more addicted. Even through all the season four drama (psycho derek/ian) and season 3’s shooting, and all the other intense moments, i think i was really hit hard at the end of season 4. I was in europe for the last two episodes of the season, the two most heart-wrenching episodes of all time: graduation and the birth of jamie. i don’t know what it was about those two episodes, but everything about it, the music, the thought of the end of one era (the gang all at Tree Hill High) and Dan trying to hang himself, lucas becoming god father and nathan’s coach on the same night, brooke and chase, all of it. One Tree Hill Became a new show. But it would be six months until the next episodes. Also, right before that, the Pictures of You episode had another effect on me. im still not even sure what it was, but it just opened up my eyes to the show (as corny as that sounds) in the next six months, i watched all the seasons over and over again, found a list of all the music played and downloaded all the best songs, which now take up about 75 percent of my ipod. around the start of season five, i finally found my new favorite website: onetreehillblog. i began to go to this site religiously, looking up spoilers, and once i got my iphone, filling up the picture albums with all one tree hill pictures. honestly, i dont even remember the last time i had a wallpaper that wasnt One Tree Hill related. I have gotten several of my inspirational quotes (every song ends, but that’s no reason to stop enjoying the music, and ayn rand’s quote from atlas shrugged: do not let your fire go out…) from the show, my obsession for music (mainly rock and old school) from the music played, performed, and referenced in the show, and my style inspiration from all three main girls in the show.

i guess you can say that ever since ninth grade, when my friend introduced One Tree Hill to me, this show has become more than just a show to me. It is my inspiration and i revolve my life around it. and i know it sounds cheesy, but its true.

Now, i’d love to continue to say how One Tree Hill has changed my life, but i must get back to season two in my everlasting One Tree Hill Marathon. :)

Let’s see how many times i can go through all 5 and a half seasons before the season hiatus ends :) and every time i watch it, it only gets better!!

  83. Nina Says:

oh, and just one thing to add, since season one, i have always been, and remain to this day, a loyal Leyton and Naley Fan. and with brooke, i was rooting for chase, but now im kind of liking pre-brulian. I kind of hope it becomes real brulian.

  84. Christy Says:

I always knew about OTH, and would watch it sometimes when there was nothing on. I got semi-hooked in season two during the whole Nathan/Haley/Chris drama, but it never really stuck. Then over the summer in 2007, they started showing all of the episodes on SoapNet, and since I vaguely knew the storyline, I decided to watch them because I was so bored. Needless to say, I got hooked. I watched seasons 1-4 all over the summer and then would record the episodes on DVR when I had to go back to school. For my birthday I got seasons 1-3 on DVD and then got season 4 when it came out. I even got my sister and mom hooked. I’ve definitely done the whole staying up all night thing, because I just had to find out what happened next. Season 5 was the first season that I actually watched live, besides a couple of episodes here and there. I wish I could say I have been with OTH from day one, but I guess it’s better late than never.

  85. Honey Says:

OMG Nina, the very first episode of OTH i watched was 305: A Multitude of Casualties. the very first scene i watched was “i wanted you to fight for me”. i seriously LOVED that scene.

  86. Nina Says:

haha that’s funny. i have to say, that episode is a good first one to watch. As i recall, a few major arcs opened up in this one. we really got introduced to rachel gatina, well, the bitchy part of her. and the oh so exciting mayoral campaign between dan and karen begins.

and i must admit, if ever, at all, i was ever a brucas fan, for even a second, i think it was this episode. mainly because of that one line. I think it is because, all of us agree with brooke, about wanting a guy to fight for us, wanting to feel loved, or even just wanted by a guy.

  87. Chaos Junkie Says:

I was a late bloomer like alot of people. I rembember I used to watch TRL frequently around the time Hilarie was still a VJ and I was such a fan of hers, she was my favorite. By this time I was sorta a fan of Chad, well I just thought he was hot but I didn’t know he’s name, I had seen him in Freaky Friday and I just fell in love with him. Then one day I changed it to TRL and I saw Hilarie interviewing Chad and the rest of the cast was there but I didn’t know who the hell they were so I didn’t care about them LOL. Anyway, next thing I know Hilarie’s talking about this show she comes out in and I freaked out cause I didn’t even know she was an actress or wanted to be one. So I was freaking out and screaming (I was screaming cause the thought of Hilarie and Chad in the same show was awesome to me) that I wasen’t even paying attention to what the time, date, channel they were gonna give this show in. Oh yeah, I remember thinking the name of the show was so weird I even forgot the name of it after 2 minutes of reapeating it over and over, I just blanked out that’s how weird I thought it was.

So anyways I forgot about the show up until months later, I was watching tv and it was soooooo boring there was nothing to watch and I was just flipping through the channels and stumbled across One Tree Hill. I saw Hilarie’s face and then it panned away to Chad’s face. At first it didn’t click to me that that was show until 5 seconds later it clicked and then that’s when I started freaking out, I actually told myself that if I didn’t like this show that I’d still watch it cause Chad & Hilarie come out but I did like it. I even remember the first episode I watched, it was Crash Course in Polite Conversation one of my favorites. But even then I still wasen’t as obsessed with the show or Leyton for that matter as I’am now. I think in the begining I liked Leyton because they were played by Chad & Hilarie and not because of the characters. But I really grew to love them as a couple (even though they weren’t a couple at the time) in the school shooting episode, I just became obsessed.

  88. Kaitlyn Says:

i was a late bloomer. Like when it first came on i didn’t watch it cause i didn’t think i’d like it and at the time i was hooked on The O.C. I started to watch it on Soap Net i think it was like the 4th episode of the 1st season. It only took one episode and i was hooked. So my dad started buying me the season on dvd and i watched seasons 1-4 just before the 5th season started. I’m glad i started watching it. I actually got my mom hooked with one episode(and she doesn’t really watch tv shows), she never watched it before but it only took one episode of season 5 and she was hooked. It’s a very addicting show and all you have to do is see one episode and you’re hooked.

  89. Lele Says:

definitely not a late bloomer here. Have watched it from the beginning and fell in-love with the very first eppy :) Although a huge Naley fan now (LOVE ME MY NALEY) I never really liked them until halfway through season 3, I know shocking right? LOL. I always wanted Lucas and Haley together and Nathan and Peyton together. When I look back on it, I can’t imagine what I was thinking. I mean I wish their was some more Pathan interaction, because we have got nothing, and I still adore the Laley relationship. I honestly believe it is the only relationship that has not been affected by anything :) GO NALEY, GO NALEY. Love my Naley now, would not change that for the world!!

  90. crazy4naley Says:

I too was a late bloomer to OTH. It wasn’t until my neice came to visit me in NC before a trip to London in 2007, that I truly became a “nut” for this show. We watched reruns of Season 4 on Soap.Net and when they stopped mid-way through the season (because the DVD had not been released), I found myself going crazy. I bought Seasons 1 through 3 on DVD and proceeded to watch them in a weekend (luckily my husband was out of town and I had the tv to myself). After that, I was hooked. Even though it has been way too many years since I was in high school, the characters felt real (not the typical ultra rich kids of the OC or 90210) and the storylines were incredibly relevant. And, with my husband being a basketball coach, it was one of the few shows that actually showcased basketball in a meaningful way. I too live in Cary, so it’s nice to be able to drive to watch them film. And, I’m constantly amazed at the number of tourists who come to Wilmington just to see the show. Or, the number of folks moving to Wilmington to go to film school. That’s a part of the show I really don’t see aired in the media and I think it’s a giant kudo to Mark Schwahn that he can create this much fervor in a fan base! Heck, he’s even got me starting to dabble in creative writing — which I’m doing to keep me busy during this long holiday break :)

  91. halesdee- i want all the same things you do-- Says:

Another late bloomer, i walked into the room and someone had left the tv on and it was the season 3 finale near the edning, i was of course confused on what was happeneing. I watched the last 20 mins of it and then it never really bothered to hunt it down again untili saw a promo for an episode of season 4. I continued to watch season 4 without knowing any background info, my siblings and i kinda figured it out. That christmas i bought seasons 1-3. it took me awhile to watch them because of school and all, but after watching those, i have been hooked. One Tree Hill is like my life now. Gunna pull out the box of dvd collections and re watch them to get me through this long long long break.

  92. BrynneRN Says:

    Late Bloomer!!
I was at work (hospital) one night and I saw our respiratory therpaist dash into our break room so I followed him. He said he was missing the new season premiere of his favorite show OTH. (yes a guy, although it was his wife that got him hooked)It was season 3 and they were at the river after the wedding. I watched about the first 5 minutes and was really confused. He said that too much has happened for him to explain. Plus I had to get back to work. Never watched another episode. Then in April or May, I was flipping through the channels and I landed on the CW and starting watching a show that looked awesome. At commercial I found out it was OTH. It was season 5, episode 16 to be exact. So I watched the last 3 episodes of that season. Completely lost, but completely in love!!!! So I remember going to work and talking with my OTH friend the RT and he was trying to catch me up, but it was useless…I mean 6 years had lapsed. So I went and bought season 1-4 on DVD to watch over the summer. My husband thought I had lost my mind. But he is a closet OTH lover. Then about May/Juneish I found this great website. Since then I have watched every season at least 3 times each. I learned it was filmed in Wilmington thanks to “AMY” and have even gotten to go and extra a few times. I thought I was a fan before, well I definitely became a fan after I got to meet the crew and be on set. The last episode I got to be in was the 40’s epi. Some of my freinds thought I was a complete lunatic about the show. But when they actually got to see me on screen they thought it was the coolest thing ever. And now I have everyone at work hooked. When we have down time at the hospital we sneak and watch my dvd’s. So I can say in many ways OTH has changed my life. I now know what true dedication is- Brucas lovers- and I never thought I would ever get to be on TV. So I hope OTH never ends even though part of me thinks this will be the last season. =( P.S. I’m a huge Leyton lover!!!!!!

    Hi Guys…

My OTH story… i’m afraid I didn’t start from the beginning… started from beg of 2008 and basically it got me through my degree!!!..i was watching all episodes at once… through box sets of 1-3 (before 4 came out in the UK) and watching 4 and 5 online with you guys… all day everyday!

I am now hooked and love it sooo much… i am a true romantic and love all the storylines…..

During the summer 2008 my boyfriend wanted to know what all the fuss was about so we watched it all back to back seasons 1-5… he is as hooked as me.. i look at this website everyday as i love all the gossip…

keep rockin guys… this is the biggest fan base ever!!!!! x

  95. Katie ~ Naley4eva Says:

WEll actually over this past summer i became OBSESSED with one tree hill…. It was 4th of july and my cousin said katie you really should watch this show.. she had all the seasons on dvd so i was like not thinking i would like it. After the first episode it was my new favorite show and i couldn’t stop watching it. I watched every season like 5 times since then!! From the very beginning i was a Naley fan so Naley 4ever…. Leyton forever because they are soooo cute!!!! i have posters in my room of one tree hill and i come onto onetreehillblog.com everyday!!!!! I <3 oth!!!!

  96. Niisu Says:

My story is almost like yours Amy :) My younger sister had been watching OTH since the beginning and was telling me about it. I thought that ok, I’m kinda old but what a hell :D So she borrowed her seasons 1-3 and since the first episode I saw I loved it. Chad helped a lot lol Like Amy, after my kids went to bed I would watch until 3am lol Finished all three seasons quite fast and started to watch online season 4, I had only missed like 10 episodes. And ever since I’m a huge fan and even bigger fan of Leyton ♥

My fiancé doesn’t understand all the fuss but likes to make jokes about my obsession with OTH and CMM lol

  97. IheartLeyton! Says:

My story also resembles Amy’s story. I saw previews for season 2 and 3 while watching tv and thought to myself ” I bet that is a show I know I could get hooked on”. Then I watched part of the boy auction episode and thought it was good but was a little confused about who was with whom and about their history. I also caught a part of the school shooting episode. But it wasn’t until episode 8 season 5 that I started watching religiously. I was hooked then. I didn’t like Lindsey and I didn’t even know about Leyton’s history. I went out and bought season 1 which I watched in one weekend staying up until 6 am to find out what happened next. I then bought season 2 and did the same. I downloaded the rest of the episodes and caught up as fast as I could (about 2 weeks) Now I never miss an episode. I am soo glad that other people have stories like mine. My boyfriend thinks I am crazy for liking a tv show so much!

  98. Stacy Says:

My senior year in high school, I saw a commercial for the school shooting episode, so I watched that, but after that, I didn’t watch again. Then, when I moved to college, my roommate was a huge fan and told me that on OTH nights there was no talking for an entire hour, so I decided to sit down and watch it with her, and after that I was hooked. We even hosted the weekly OTH parties in our room haha. Over christmas break that year I rented the first two seasons and watched those and then I bought the third season on DVD when it came out. Now I own all of them and I keep on watching!

  99. luvleyton Says:

Someone earlier said that most Leyton fans are “late bloomers” b/c that is when they were together in s4. I completely disagree. If you watched it from the pilot then I beleive that you would be a Leyton fan also b/c that was their initial interaction and Brooke wasn’t even in it. Infact Brooke didn’t have much interaction with Lucas at all until Peyton blew him off at the Scott B.Ball party and told him that she didn’t want a serious relationship just sex, and then the next day her drink was drugged at a party and that is when Brooke and Lucas actually talked, when they were waiting for her to wake.
I have watched it from the beggining and I am a die hard Leyton fan.
I actually think that most Brucas fans began watching it the end of s2 or into s3. IMO
THe fact is most people on here are late bloomers (which surprises me), Leyton or Brucas fans. There are only a few of us who have watched it from the beginning.
K-I’ll stop now, I just wanted to throw my 2 cents in about that comment.

  100. Leyton4life Says:

My OTH story is kind of confusing. I was a late bloomer. I saw the last couple of episodes of season 4 and was of course confused as all get out and wasnt really into any ships or anything. I asked one on my friends about it and she said i HAD to watch it because of quote ‘the hunk of a man CMM’ i said okay and was channel surfing and came across SOAPNET and they were showing the first episode of season 1. So i started to watch at the end of season 4 but the next day started watching from season 1 and was hooked ever since. Everyone in my house thinks i’m crazy but my sister calls me every monday at 10 asking me questions. I told her she could borrow my DVDs but she is still in denial. I will get everyone in my house hooked if it is the last thing i do…lol

  101. Nimkong Says:

My oth story-I was sitting around being bored and was flipping thru the channels and as it happened oth was on, and I was like I’ve always wanted to watch the show I just never caught it. The episode I caught that day is the reason I think that I became a brucas fan right away. It was the one right after Lucas car accident with Kieth, and I thought that Brooke was so sweet to Lucas. Then the end when it turned out he was cheating on her with Peyton…I was like no he did not! I was hooked and it has been my favorite show ever since. It has taken along time but I have finally seen all the epi. in season one that I have missed, but seeing them still did not change my mind about brucas.

  102. 332303 Says:

i too was a late bloomer (in a oth way haha) but i think thats down to advertising, i live in the uk and they really only starting showing promos for season 5. i started watching bits of season 2 when it was on back 2005 after watching “the making of house of wax” on mtv and loving the whole chophia hysteria haha and my first episode was the sleepover when the girls fight!!! i totally missed season 3-4. earlier this year i was channel skipping and a promo for season 5 was on e4 whilst re runs of season 3 was on and it was “a brave new world” and i was like awwww ive missed this!!! obsessed ever since got season 1-5 on dvd and ALWAYS on this blog like 20 times a day and watch season 6 on the net.
whilst the show is on hiatus we should start new posts on fave episodes/quotes/characters etc just a thought xx

  103. Linda..;; Naley AAF alwaysandforever Says:

    well this is my story

It was like october or something I was very bored and I had just finished my homeworks, so I went to the livingroom and switch the tv on, and there it was the lovely One Tree Hill! I think it was episode 3 of season 2 and I just loved it,so I keep watching it and I loved it! well i saw season 1 on internet to understand that´s going on and yeaah that´s it! I keep watching OTH becasue of Naley!!<333

  104. JACKIE Says:

I STARTED GETTING HOOKED ON OTH AFTER THE FIRST SEASON WAS RELEASED TO DVD..I DIDNT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THE SHOW AND JUST PICKED IT UP TO SEE HOW I WOULD LIKE IT. I HAVENT MISSED AN EPISODE SINCE!! ALL OF MY FRIENDS KNOW HOW CRAZY ABOUT IT I AM AND I HAVE GOTTEN SOO MANY OF THEM HOOKED ON IT TO WHERE SOMEONE IS CONSTANTLY BORROWING MY DVDS!! I LOVE THE SHOW AND HAVE GROWN FOND OF THE CHARACTERS!! I LIVE 2.5 HRS FROM WILMINGTON AND JUST BEING ABLE TO GO AND VISIT THE FILMING LOCATIONS IS INCREDIBLY AWESOME!!

  105. tina Says:

I am a LATE BLOOMER just like you, i actually started February of this year (2008) and whenever my cousins would be like do you watch oth? i would say no im not interested in that or no, it looks dumb, but then my friend told me it was good and i watched a ep in season 5 when peyton was throwing the novels at lucas and they kissed and haley saw cuz it was when lucas and lindsay were together and i asked my friend why haley was mad cuz i thought peyton and haley were friends and shes like you would just have to watch it and she has season 1-4 so i borrowed them all and over my february break( in highschool right now) i watched them and didn’t come out of my room i was hooked, and i had a weird obsession with it for a long time i searched everything all the time, and i fell in love with nathan and haley’s characters…and now i love it and don’t miss an episode and i dvr them even if i watch them, OTH is a great show!

  106. martha (BRUCAS!) Says:

    I’m a late bloomer.
I rented season two to start out with but then my friend Anna brought over season one to watch last year to my house. We finished watching season one and I was hooked, I loved every minute of it. I started off watching the re-runs of season five on tv. So for my birthday I asked for all the seasons and I got seasons one, two, and three and during the summertime I would stay up till five in the morning and watch all of seasons one, two, and three! I felt so achieved after watching all of them on dvd. But I wanted to watch all of the rest of the seasons so I found them online and would watch a few of them everyday until i finished the whole series that had been completed. So there’s my story! Sorry I was late haven’t been on here in forever because my computer was down :(
    but it’s working now!

  107. martha (BRUCAS!) Says:

After like three episodes i fell in love with the character brooke, and she has been my favorite ever since!

  108. LPtrue♥always™ Says:

luvleyton, I definitely agree with you about the Leyton fans and the late bloomer thing. Totally not true.

  109. brookeandlucasscottalways Says:

I am also a late bloomer. I saw the previews for season 5 and thought I would give it a shot. Addicted from then on. I upgraded my tv package to include Soapnet so I could see sll of the first 4 seasons. I am a Brucas fan at heart, I think their story is like that of Karen and Keith, and I hope (against all odds I know) that by the end of the series they get together. I think the Pucas storyline needs to happen so Luke and Brooke can be happy. I really have fallen in love with the characters and their stories, Brooke and Haley are my favorites with Lucas and Nathan. I think for a “teen drama” it is good….I am 28. I really want it to go on forever…lol. That’s my story.

  110. Sarah Says:

My brother watched it but I hated it because Chad was on, and I saw Chad in the other series and he always was the bad guy. I began to watch it in the middle of season 3 and in the episode “3X16 – With tired eyes, tired minds, tired souls, we slept” I love the serie from then. So I download since season 1 until today.

Sorry My English I’m from Mexico

  111. LaLa Says:

I actually got hooked because my mom always watched it from the begaining. Plus, I delvoped a crush on James Laffery. I’m now a bigger fan than she is!

  112. Chelsea S. Says:

I was flipping channels one summer and they were reruning the episode before the school shooting. I saw the preview for the next week’s episode and I’ve been hooked ever since. I was sick half way through my sophomore year of high school through my senior year, and One Tree Hill became an escape. I felt like I got to get the high school experience vicariously through the kids on OTH. Once season 4 started, I needed to know what they kept referring to and bought the first three seasons. I watched them all in just a couple of days (very possible when all I could do was lay on the couch). Since then my sister and mom have become fans, and even my 66 year old dad tunes in on Monday nights.

  113. Chloeeeeeeeeeee___x Says:

I had never heard about it before. Just randomly I turned on E4 [The UK Channel its broad casted on] and fell in love with it. That was waaayy back in 2004 [I think] when it first premiered over here. In instantly fell in love with Peyton. <333 && Lucas. Thus my love for Leyton formed. =P I have shipped ever since.

I remember back in the days [I'm not that old. Just 18 but When I talk about the older days of OTH I feel somewhat old. =P] I used to have regularly arguments with my friends as to which was better, OTH or The OC! lol! I was the only OTH fan then, and the rest of my friends were OC Fans! But haha once The OC finished I converted most of them! =P

Ah! I miss good ol’ OTH days. But I’m lovin’ the Reruns! <3333

  114. Chloeeeeeeeeeee___x Says:

oh btw I’m loving the oth stories! lol!

I also got my aunt hooked, and some of my friends. Now I watch OTH episodes daily [[at least one a day]], I just keep trying to figure out my favorite season. I think it would be a really cool idea to have a poll on what season’s everyone else loves too? Just an idea…

i was a late bloomer, my friend kenzie was at school and was like omg the 5th season of oth is coming on.So she told me about the show and one weekend me and her watched seasons 1 through 4.i completly fell in love now if i think im going to miss an episode i cancel my plans oth is way to important to miss. oh yea and the fifth season is my fav…so far

  118. lemmme Says:

My sister and i saw some commercials for it but we werent really intrested. We were like “we should watch that show” we watched some episodes on the cw and then we saw the commercials for it on soapnet. after i saw the first one on soapnet i was hooked and now its my favorite show in the world.

  119. Debra Says:

I Was 14 when i started watching it, my cousin from lousisana moved here and she always talked about it and one night she made me watch it with her it was the first eppisode of the second season so i didnt miss much. at christmas time we bought the first season so i could see the beginning, watched it within a week so when oth came back on i was all caught up. then in april i went to the oth tour concert!!! for my birthday. i have been in love with the show every since i am now 18. I made my classes for college so i would be home mon tue and wed, from 8-10 so incase it gets moved im home :) like the last girl, i cancel plans if im going to miss it :)

  120. Alyssa (Tutor Girl) Says:

I love how some people have become even bigger fans by being able to do things like extra on the show or go to one of the concerts or charity games or meet cast members. And although I have yet to do any of those things I still think OTH is the most forward thinking and innovative show. The way it incorporates music, art, and the love of basketball is just spectacular.

  121. honey Says:

Tutor girl i also love the way in corporates music, art, and the love of basketball. but we have not seen any art (only from brooke) which is surprising, i never knew she could draw. and i really miss basketball and the rivercourt. but the rivercourt was ruined because of peyton( no offense leyton fans)

  122. Alyssa (Tutor Girl) Says:

honey, do you mean this season we haven’t seen any art? Lol because Peyton is the artist, but we haven’t seen much lately. And I’m not saying this to be offensive, but I have always viewed the rivercourt as a Leyton thing I mean last season was not the first time Peyton drew/painted on the RC. And, Iwas also shocked that Brooke culd draw.

  123. shailee Says:

i started whatchin from season 1..but being from Sydney Australia, if the raitings were poor, then they droped of the air. which is what happen. ofcourse we only got to see the first 10-12 eps or so but i was hooked! i was very young when is started 13 or so , and thus wasn’t tech savvy, and didn’t know u could whatch online. i ended up reading episode scripts up to ep 3×16..which is an amazing ep and even without the visuals i was loving the show! anyhoo, the site i got the scripts from didnt post any more so i let it be and slowly forgot about the show. years later i was on summer break from school looking for a good show to watch when i remembered a show i’d once seen…OTH!!! so i checked online (with years of net-surfing experience down my belt) and what do u know..4 seasons of oth had passed! so i watched from start to finish just in time to begin watching with america in season 5 and have been with OTH since!! thx 4 reading! cheers Shazz..xoxo

  124. honey Says:

OH its ok tutor girl if u see it as a leyton thing. i always saw it as a scott brother thing. even though natahn didnt like it in the beginning. peyton knows that lucas does his best thinking at the river court, y not paint all over it to get her man.

i was just watching episode 601, and the coda song was “violet hill” by coldplay. i understood it like if u love some one u should let them now, and there was a scene when brooke tells millie to accept love when it comes. im trying to say is that even though i love brooke, i kind of blame her brucas not coming together. because even after brucas broke up she loved him, but was afraid to show how she felt and fight for him. i think brooke’s weakness his her ability to be unselfish. i think everyone is the show in one way or the other was selfish in a moment in their lives and brooke never was to me.

Sorry for the long comment. just had to vent a little.

P.S i wish brooke fought for lucas as much as peyton did. (BASIC POINT OF THIS COMMENT.

  125. honey Says:

oh, im still in tears from that episode. i hated when brooke and millie left brooke. they were the only ones there for her, but then they left. i feel like brooke left everything in NY, to go to tree hill to be with family. but everyone already had their thing or they left. naley was busy with jamie, peyton and lucas left, millie and mouth left, owen left.

  126. LPtrue♥always™ Says:

The River Court is definitely Lucas’ turf(his world). Until Nathan came and took over, but there’s nothing wrong with that I guess, Lol Luke still goes there to think. I also think the RC is a LP thing(all their awesome moments there) but to each their own.

Brooke also had her selfish moments. One was when she didn’t want to share her best friend with Anna lol. But for the most part, Brooke is pretty selfless person. ;)

  127. honey Says:

agree with RC being lucas turf. but recently i only seen sexy nathan and Q playing on it. i think all the characters had wonderful meaningful moments on the RC. the thing about anna was not that serious to me. and that was the old brooke. agree brooke is a selfless person, that is y i love her, she reminds me a lot of myself.

  128. Leytonarehot! Says:

I think that they have all had their selfless moments. I sometimes think that they need to be selfish which is why I really want Brooke to stop foscusing on everyone else and really let herself heal after what happened. I think Sam is very good for Brooke and I really hope that they continue that story arc. I would also really like a Julian and Brooke pairing, they are both very similar and aside from having kickass chemistry that just sort of fit, not aswell as Lucas and Brooke but considering Lucas is with Peyton, Julian is the next best thing :)

LAH are u sure u are not a brucas fan?!? lol. we have the exact same thoughts on everything. lol. i totally agree i wish brooke would just stop and think of herself for once. especially when people dont do that for her.like i said before, mouth and millie are really the only ones there for brooke.

lol,Unfortunately Honey, I am very much a Leyton lover, but I just believe that Brooke and Lucas fit in a certain way that Leyton don’t. Brooke and Haley are very much my fav characters, above all of the couples on OTH and everything :) I have always found their relationship very untainted and just really humble :) The thing with Leyton is that I truly believe that they are soulmates, but I believe that Lucas and Brooke have enourmous chemistry and bring out the absolute best in each other. I am a very strange Leyton shipper, but I am and always will love Lucas and Peyton together. I am glad that we have similar thoughts, You are one very cool and awesome Brucas shipper and I just love that you still care and have faith in them :)

  131. honey Says:

yeah i know, im pretty awesome. lol. the thing for me is that i think peyton and lucas are soul mate in a way that they will always be there for eachother. to me lucas is romantically meant to be with brooke. they do bring out the best in each other and have great chemistry. but when brucas were together, leyton were extremely good friends. but when leyton is together it is like brooke is out of the picture. the brucas friendship was great in season 5 because leyotn was not romantically linked. just my thoughts.

You are very AWESOME Honey :) And to some extent I agree with you, it’s just that I love my Leyton and I mean I have always been a Leyton fan from the very first episode, so it is very hard for me to just give them up. I do see your point though and they are very valid. Anyway sweetie I have to get off now. I am just exhausted, but I will be back on tmorrow and I will talk to you later ok. *Hugs and Kisses* for my favourite girl. Goodnight.

I were myself a late Bloomer when it came to OTH, for years I have been watching O.C but when that ended I discovered online the pilot of OTH first i wasnt so into it but themn i saw what its all about i bought the season 1 and after that couldnt get enough of this show that i bought all the other 3 season up to season 5.I became an instant fan of Leyton and has been ever since. I Loved the high school drama the fueds among the adults and the whole basketball background of it.. My fav is Peyton since day one and the BP friendship, haley, lucas and Nathan, even Tim who were funny at times.

man, i loved Time, he has to be of my all time favorite characters. when i look at him i start to laugh. he is so funny and i loved him with nathan. and i loved him in the library scene in season 5. i was laughing my ass off.

like most other people i was also a “late bloomer”, i was completely addicted to The O.C. and have got all the boxsets and then once that had finished i thought i’d try OTH and like everyone else got completely hooked! i’ve watched every episode at least twice and i just LOVE IT!! i hate living in England as i have to wait for ages to see the next season so i watch them all online and then again when they eventually come here. i am a total Leyton fan and can’t wait to see what happens next with them. x

  137. honey Says:

Sorry my mistake i meant Tim, not Time.

Another late bloomer here! I stumbled across it through a YouTube music video as well. Then found a clip of the first encounter b/w Nathan & Haley at the dock for his tutoring session. Loved it! I watched as much as I could on YouTube, sometimes literally watching all day! I rented S1-4 from Netflix and pulled all nighters with them. I watched several shows on the CW… don’t know how I missed it! But I am hooked now :)
