Moira Kelly Visits OTH Podcast; talks about Hilarie Burton Exit from Show

Moira Kelly visits the One Tree Hill Podcast on May 19 to talk about her guest stint on the One Tree Hill season six finale and she talked about returning to Wilmington and the One Tree Hill set. She also shared her thoughts on the recent news that Chad Michael Murray and Hilarie Burton would not be returning to One Tree Hill for the seventh season.
Her comments on Hilarie Burton not returning next season:
“Hilarie and I were talking about how it has to end at some point. When you are performer you get into your characters and you love them and you work them and you grow with them, but at some point it all has to come to an end. The beauty is to reflect back on where that character began. When I think of the character of Peyton, the first images are so gothic. I told Hilarie, you had really curly blonde hair and you were this tough chick when the show started. I said Hilarie think about how that character developed – that is a body of work. And so you take that with you. Leaving is never easy, but it is also very exciting. Hilarie has so much more going on and she is going to be fine. She has a great sensibility for the business. She is going to do really well. She is a very smart young actress.”.”

i’ve accepted it. she’s accepting it. it’s just over. at least hilarie is going out with dignity. it does suck, but you can’t do anything about it and we can still see her on southern gothic, so…i don’t care to find out what “really” happened…

I definitely feel for Hilarie. I can tell this was not her decision to leave and Im hoping they will make it so that she can return for some guest appearances in season 7. However, Chad has just royally screwed his career. It’s amazing that he has yet to make a comment on this situation and like lol said it speaks volumes that moira doesn’t even mention him.
trust me he is losing all of his fans, i used to love him but right now i just lost every once of respect that i had for him..
moira didnt even mind mentioning his name, i can bet that the whole cast is pretty pissed of at him..

this is what i said earlier on this morning…iv sort of calm down now lol “chad sorry but he should of had the balls to tell the truth and say he just wanted to leave to further his career instead of making out the network didnt want him back that was a cop out and then tryin to get the fans involved to reinstate him sorry but lost a bit of respect for him..he didnt want to comment or no longer associates himself with the show steady he’s only been gone 5 mins am not annoyed he’s left just the way he went about it..
People get over it they are leaving this blame game is idiot.And sorry but if chad are leaving is the right thing to have hilarie leaving to.Now lets stop this blame game please.

That has been the topic of discussion this week and in our opinion, the answer is yes. If you haven’t already heard, cover your eyes now: Peyton and baby Scott beat the odds and live happily ever after in the finale. Okay, so it’s not that cut-and-dried, but after all of the heartache and loss Peyton has survived during six seasons of OTH, this final episode is a cakewalk. All elements of Lucas-Peyton saga are present in their final scene and we even get the traditional Chad Michael Murray voiceover. Fans are not left with a big question mark ending for Leyton. In fact, we’d go as far as to say that they do get their happily ever after.
i am not blaming anyone, i totally understand that he wanted to leave why i dont understand is if he wanted o leave than leave and be honest about it and just move on but stop contradicting yourself, i am sorry but that just made him look stupid, that didnt really help the matter at all..
lol man i would HATE to be an actor seeing how so many people can turn on you in an instant…people make mistakes…its been like what A DAY since the interview decline…maybe he wants too wait a while and then have an interview…maybe ausellio was being a jerk and not accepting “no comment” for an answer so he just said something that i admit was pretty stupid…give him what maybe a few weeks or something?..the finale hasnt even aired yet..people need to chill out i mean wasnt the comment “chad is no longer part of the show and has no comment regarding season 7″…well duh he’s not in season 7 and he’s no longer part of the show…hows that desrespectful? he’s just stating a fact…
as for moira not mentioning him..have you heard the whole podcast??…maybe she was asked specifically about hilarie and her comments in her interview?….

To be fair to Chad, I’m pretty sure his rep spoke FOR him. Its understandable he wouldnt want to an interview right now about OTH and whatnot because people would want answers and to know all the details and he has a right to privacy; I’m sure the decision wasnt an easy one for him to make, even if it was motivated by money.
Hil is such a sweetie for her honesty in answering the questions even if she did avoid directly blaming or saying who the root cause of it all is. Leads me to believe its not as easy as saying Mark booted her out for LPs happy ending, or that she had to leave because Chad did.
Her video makes a lot of sense now, she just wanted everyone to know she wasnt walking away for the wrong reasons or that she was ungrateful for the opportunities it gave her. She & Mark made a decision that she seems ok with, and means she can continue to be awesome with SoGoPro.
I just wish people would leave Chad alone; I get people think hes selfish or a dick for leaving & wanting more money, but I dont see how that justifies whats been said about him. The material hes been given of late isnt great and hasnt been for a while, and 6 years playing one character means hes ready for a new challenge – who wouldnt be?
At the end of the day, not only did he fufill his contractual obligations, but he made a decision about his own life which he have no right to judge him for. Had he stayed for S7, then when talk of S8 came round he’d be in the same position again. We cant expect him to stay just because we dont want the show to end.
i feel bad for chad in a way. i mean he’s screwed no matter what he does and the judgment never stops. i’d hate to be in his position.
Exactly maralisa. Even if he does an interview the bashing is not going to stop. People are going to think what they want to think. Hes better off keeping quiet and waiting until this blows over.
Chad will always be in a lose lose situation so he might as well not say anything at all. Whatever he says people will still be bashing him.
what i have to say is thank you mark chad and hilarie for give us this 6 years and for lucas and peyton having a great happy ending and a great history .I agree chad will always be in a lose lose situation if he whants to move on whats the problem if the video was a mistake.whats the problem if mark dont whant to screw his show more and wants LP to have the end that he wants for them since the pilot and hilarie has to live.
I applaud Chad. Hes always been the gentlemen and never lets himself be dragged in any kind of “war” on the press, even if a lot of times that means to accept to be bashed. I dont think i can do that.
Yall don’t know anything chad or who he is… They did all they could do with the storyline of lucas and peyton… so at least they leave on a happy note… Yall just let it go….. I wish chad and hilarie the best in there careers… Maybe Yall should grow the hell up, Its just a damn show….

We don’t know the real story. So maybe the LP ending that’s happening in the season finale is the one that’s suppose to happen.
It just came earlier than we all expected.

i know Natalie. IMO out of the cast Chad is the best one to meet. He was super nice and i can tell he was tired but he still took pictures/sign autographs and he made sure he talked with everyone.
So without Lucas and Peyton we won’t be seeing Karen or Andy or Lilly or Jake or Larry or any other characters related to Lucas and Peyton is the Tree Hill world.
Season 7 really is going to be something totally different.
I hope at least Lucas gets to tell Haley goodbye since he was so angry at her for leaving to go on tour with Chris Keller and not telling him about it.
we havent see karen andy lilly jake or larry even when leyton was on. season 5 changed a lot of the show, it made it be no longer about teenagers, but adults. im happy for s7, i know that mark will give us great storylines. either way it cant be worse then what this season was.
as for lucas telling haley goodbye, how many good laley sences did we get this season? like 3? the laley friendship is pretty much non-existent. so lucas not being there next season wont affect that friendship any.
I’m gonna miss Peyton alot.. she and lucas are like the heart of the show for me..
I’m glad that Moira spoke highly on Hilarie.. yes.. she’s a smart woman.. she’ll be doing just fine.. go hilarie!
as for CMM.. I respect his decision.. wish him all the best too..

Well said Blue. hilarie is a sweetheart and to be honest all the fans who are pissed that she and Lucas are leaving is silly. What was the alternative? Peyton dies, and season 7 goes on with Peyton funeral and Lucas miserable? Or freak accident and Lucas dying? Peyton and bubba without L? I seriously think this is the best end to the season, they deserved their happy ever after and seriously, after 6 seasons maybe they both have other projects they want to follow…family lives they want to get on with …. In any case, hats off to them both, cause if things were ‘difficult’ with negotiations they perform perfectly until the end!
