Table for Three : DVD Talk Review of the DVD Video
As the terrible twosome, Bush and Bradford inhale a bottle of overacting pills and go for broke as Ryan and Mary, pushing themselves as broadly as I’ve ever seen them. In terms of characterization, it’s a believable leap, but as the film wears on, it’s clear Bush is hungrier for crazy, upstaging Bradford over and over as the duo bust out the verbal diarrhea and camera mugging to portray the misunderstood couple from hell. There are times when the mania is a kick to watch, especially when played off of Scott’s bewilderment as the couple learns the joys of bickering and the anxiety of separation. Acting this exaggerated normally stumps most directors, yet Samonek takes it all in stride, encouraging his cast to bulge out in perverse ways, but he contains the eccentricity with promising skill.

Well, as much as I like Sophia I do have to agree that she does have a tendency to overact and excessively blink in scenes. She has improved, but yes she does overact in a lot of her scenes.

Sophia does NOT have a tendency to overact (hello, Hilarie!) And in fact, if you READ the review, they purposely overact as this crazy couple and they were SUPPOSED to. Look up satire or sarcasm in a dictionary.

Umm..consistently having bug eyes is overacting..Hilarie’s acting has improved though. I would say the girls are far stronger then Chad/James/Lee

She doesn’t do the bug eyes thing constantly. She did it during that season 4 episode. I’ve yet to notice her do it again. Sophia always either screams her dialogue, blinks excessively during her scenes, flails her hands around, or when she cries she scrunches up her face to make odd facial expressions and there often are no tears. Joy is hands down the strongest actress (After Moira Kelly), and most consistent actress on the show. She just isn’t given the material often to show it.

hilaire did the bug eyes thing during the shooting and during the derek thing and when brooke slapped her and when she got caught with lucas cheating the firstd time and when ellie died and when jake left.
i could go on.
sophia is a solid actress (who isn’t perfect) and there are industry people who continually back this is and speak up about it.
hilarie has had very few jobs outside of oth and that speaks volumes. she will stick to producing–that is her forte.

i think mentioning careers is just stupid because her latest movie is a DVD release….and apart from OTH fans i can pretty much say that not many people would of heard of her other movies…and for the 3rd time can i just say that i think sophia is a GREAT actor/person but i have a rigt as a fan who watches her act to point out a small criticism…im not saying she is a bad actor in the slightest and im not disrespecting her as a person so why cant you accept that? and i agree with the hilarie thing!..she did the bug eyed face or whatever but i was defending her as you attacked her basically saying she cant act which IMO is disrespectful

I work in an office of 25 men and 3 women. At least a dozen of the men know exactly who she is and not from OTH. They wouldn’t be caught dead watching it.
Very few if any of my female friends (we’re in mid 20s) have ever watched, let alone heard of OTH and they know who she is through fashion, politics and films.
The contrary with Hilarie. She is ONLY known for OTH… and someone might know her face (not her name or any contributions) from the secret life of bees

The other poster may be a bit zealous in her stance, but she is correct in saying the overacting in Table for Three was both purposeful and warranted for the specific plot and genre.
As for One Tree Hill, unless you call showing emotion “over acting” versus standing with a stunned wide-eyed face, you have nothing to back up your “opinion”.

This entry isn’t about Sophia’s acting on OTH, so go find an entry that is. I never ever said she was a perfect actress, but this is not the topic of the post. Sounds like you just need to nit pick; a suggestion: focus on your own short comings. You can actually do something about those, and Sophia can do something about her own.

but your right at the end of the day sophia has done more movies and has had more roles but that is very small evidence to judge who is the better actress…so therefore your posts are not very accurate as they are suppported by weak evidence…

No one knows her for anything but OTH. That is the point. She is is doing the smart thing by focusing on production. OTH was the platform that showcased her poor acting abilities.

I think Sophia is a good actress, but yes I’ve noticed she can overact in some scenes. Hilarie isn’t perfect either, but overall she’s probably a little better than Sophia. They both aren’t really household names, and you guys say that every guy knows who Sophia Bush is. I don’t think that’s true at all. John Tucker Must Die was awful, and wasn’t exactly a classic. The Hitcher wasn’t that great either, but I thought she was decent in it. Joy’s the best, because I can’t think of any scene she could have done better and she’s always spot on with her performances.

How hysterical and laughable is that!! She is terrible! Open your eyes and watch the show. I would expect this reaction from a tween. Sher isn’t awful, but she certainly isn’t good. She could learn a thing or two from Sophia. Even my 55 year old mother commented on day, unprompted by me.

She is not on every hot list imaginable. Serious hyperbole, and The Hitcher wasn’t really that successful of a movie. I don’t even remember it being released in theaters (Even though it was), and neither did my friend. We actually had to rent it on dvd. Hilarie Burton is no where close to terrible, but you are allowed to think that since that is an opinion. I’m also allowed to think that Hilarie is a better actress than Sophia, because that is mine.

Sophia Bush is perfect you guys! She is the perfect actress, and she never makes any mistakes. Everyone else doesn’t even compare to Sophia, because she’s just perfect and can never do anything wrong. Even though she’s over the top in most of her scenes, can’t cry to save her life, and has dated three of her co-stars (On one show) and even a director. She’s perfect, and Sophia doesn’t have one flaw.

Sophia’s only known for fkcing her co-stars. That’s it. People on set call her a slut. She’s passed around like trash and that is what she is…filthy disgusting trash.
The paps don’t follow her. She CALLS them. She also leaked out that her and James were dating in that InTouch article but it backfired when everyone started bashing her and that’s why she lied about it afterwards. She’s a hypocrite.

How do you know no producer wants to touch him? Do you know him or something? Just because he hasn’t been in movies lately doesn’t mean anything. If you watch some of his interviews you would know hes very picky, especially when it comes to movies. He says many times that he passed up a lot of roles simply because he wasn’t interested. He is done with the typical high school drama movies and wants to take on more serious roles that actually challenge him. His career has not peaked yet.
