Like I said before we don't know and will probably never know all the details. And I know from experience that things change all the time during negotiations. Maybe the network didn't want them at first but changed their minds later or maybe Chad wanted to leave first but decided to stay but they didn't want him back etc etc. Alot of things can happen. There really was no choice though. . .since they obviously couldn't put Brucas back together after the breakup/divorce. IMO the only one that Lucas works with is Brooke. Owen was okay with brooke but he wasn't good enough for her-- hugely successful fashion designer with reformed addict/bartender. Not exactly what fans can get behind.
