7.04 Believe Me I’m Lying Reaction
Posted on October 5th, 2009 by Amy
Wahhh…where did all that good OTH go last week? I feel like we’re starting all over again.
- Shantel I’m sure is a lovely individual. I’ve heard a lot of good stuff on her from filming. But Quinn? I simply can not relate to, connect with or get excited about. The only time I had a smidgeon of interest in what she had to say was at the end when Clay asked if she was sure she wanted to go to his place.
- I enjoyed the Noisettes and the fashion show. Really liked their music.
- I liked what they did with Millie. Great message to young (and old) women.
- So Alex is going to screw up Julian and Brooke. And as much as I love them, after tonight, I’m ready for some drama.
- Poor Mouth. When he walked out of the room, I just remember him with Jimmy at the river court and that’s all he ever wanted to do. Hopefully he’ll get back on the air soon!
- I actually liked Victoria’s return tonight. She’s still snarky yet not awful to Brooke.
- Clay. I still love Clay. I’m always interested in all his scenes. It’s well delivered and feels authentic and I’m really interested to see where Clay goes. Especially if it is home with Quinn. Maybe that will finally help me with her.
- Go Haley for knocking Renee out. She deserved it.
Alright, that’s all I can squeeze out for tonight.

aside from the quinn storyline, i just think quinn needs to leave, she is doing nothing for haley, clay or anyone. her vague reason for ditching her husband is boring at this point. dave leave.. leave now!! you CAN do better.
i thought it was a solid episode. i mean we def. could’ve gotten more NH but maybe they are holding back on us.
Mouth actually has a good storyline and it involves him defending nate. millie was great. i did miss bitch victoria but it was good to see that she isnt completely a convert
October 5th, 2009 at 9:40 pm
Yeah Quinn is kind of starting to bug me. Which is disappointing considering I wanted to like her a lot. Shantel is probably a great person and everything but I’m just not feeling it.
Julian was really sweet/cute with Brooke tonight. I know Alex will stir up some trouble but I think Brulian can hold their ground in the end.
I really liked the Nathan/Jamie scene. That was good. Wish we had gotten a little more Naley in there but I know we will get some good stuff next episode. And speaking of Haley, I loved that she hit Renee, she totally deserved it.
And to whoever has been suggesting that Rachel is behind the whole this…I agree with. I mean I would hope that she has and would redeem herself but I just find it unlikely now. Dan is probably trying to make good with his life and Rachel taking advantage of everything. I don’t know though, I could have a severe case of speculation. Next episode looks great.
Is it weird that I always look forward to the next episode more than when I actually watch it. Like mid-week last week I was pumped about this episode, now that I have seen it, I am over it, wondering why I got all excited in the first place. This new promo has me thinking the same thing…that I will love the next one. I hope that my high hopes for next week don’t out shine the outcome.
Overall this episode was alright.

I guess overall I loved the episode and everything in it the one weak point for me being Quinn. I still don’t get her reasoning behind the whole divorce, I could do without her entirely. Love Brooke and Julian and I love Nathan Haley as well, glad that she knocked out Renee! I loved seeing Chase and Mouth in this episode. Alex is getting on my nerves, loved that Miranda stuck up for Haley. Victoria was a blast as always, I do think there is a set up with Renee going on that is connected to Dan.
Overall a solid episode and I can’t wait till next week.

I think that One Tree Hill is missing it’s spark. The writers can’t write anything good even if they’re lives depended on it.
October 5th, 2009 at 9:56 pm
see i liked this episode better than last week’s.
but i have to agree with you on quinn. i was so excited when i heard that they were going to bring in haley’s sister, but quinn is horrible! please mark just get rid of her, because i really dont see a point for her.
as for clay, i still love him. i read that clay’s old gf is coming on the show. maybe they will get back together, because i dont want quinn anywhere near clay….
October 5th, 2009 at 9:56 pm
yasin, although i am not in agreement, i will say that i feel the writers have good ideas but but bad execution. i mean some things went right like haley being down about the tabloid and nathan apologizing but i think he shouldve been there to help comfort haley more but i did love how he talked to jamie and reassured him that he is still an only child lol
October 5th, 2009 at 9:58 pm
lulu, id rather have clay pining over a different James sister hehe and maybe bring in a jealous nathan on the side! lol
im with you, clay stay away, all quinn will do is give you vague answers.
“Quinn, why arent you eating your salad?”
“Its different, its not ceasar anymore, or its not the same type of dressing as i thought it was once. maybe ill try ranch.”
October 5th, 2009 at 10:05 pm
This was the worst episode yet of the season. I hate how they’ve turned Tree Hill into faux Hollywood with fashion shows, paparazzi, nba stars, fashion designers. This is not the oth I fell in love with. And why don’t NH have any scenes together? They haven’t kissed all season! I’m not even a fan of them, but they’ve lost any ounce of chemistry they might have once had. And Quinn the character and Shantel the actress are totally snooze worthy. Not feeling her storyline at all. I felt so bad for David (who I think looks just like Matthew Perry!). The only thing that’s really holding my interest is Alex, she’s just so refreshing and funny. Brooke/Julian isn’t so bad either. But the NHJQC aspect just isn’t cutting it for me.
October 5th, 2009 at 10:23 pm
erin, naley still has amazing chemistry together, they just havent had that many scenes together. which sucks. i hope they have some scences coming up soon with just the two of them. as for jamie, he hardly hasnt been in any scenes , he has had a few, but thats it.
tree hill isnt a faux hollywood, nathan is the only nba star, brooke is the only designer (the reason for the show)
i understand about quinn, she is pointless, and i really dont see a reason for her.
but clay is still great, im loving him more and more.
October 5th, 2009 at 10:26 pm
So happy Haley slapped that b****! I’m actually glad there is some drama on the way for Brooke/Julian… it was too boring for a while. Mouth is finally being written as likable again and I’m so glad he stood up for Nathan. I’m loving the Mouth/Millie stuff way more than the Quinn/David snoozefest. Lookin forward to next week!
October 5th, 2009 at 10:32 pm
where is the Naley interaction 2nite?! i thought this episode Nathan would try to be there for haley for a change!!
Glad Hales slapped that bi**h she had it coming!!
Quinn they better clear her story with David, i actually feel bad for him.
October 5th, 2009 at 10:49 pm
I’m sure Quinn will get better. I still like her. Haha. But yeah, it is a snoozefest although I can stand to watch it.
I watched the end first because I heard about Haley punching/slapping (whichever one it was) Renee. That was SOOOO set up. There is no way the paparazzi would just appear out of no where.. right? It just seemed way too set up.
I was happy about how Nathan handled the whole situation with Jamie. What gets me crying is how he’s only 7 and he just doesn’t see the evil in people yet and he’s already been through so much.
We need more Naley together. Plain and Simple. And Erin, what the hell are you talking about? Naley has and will always have the BEST chemistry on the show. They just haven’t had any “together” scenes.
Gahhh I love Alex even more now. =) It was so nice what she did for Millie. And Millie was freaking gorgeous. I love her. I haven’t loved Millie for almost 2 seasons because she was such a bore but they definitely changed her character in a good way.
Love Mouth. I don’t know what to say. I love when he sticks up for what he believes in.
Miranda did something good for once. I was surprised. Haha. Thank you Miranda. =)
I loved the Brathan scene. And it’s so true: The easy part is not acknowledging the rumors, the hard part is explaining it to a 7 year old kid.
Overall, I liked the episode. It’s still missing the Naley scenes! I can’t wait till next episode!
October 5th, 2009 at 10:49 pm
^^i think we might get some naley interaction next week. i mean haley gets arrested, and she finds renee’s number on the cell phone bill. i really want to see how nathan is going to explain that, and i really want something out of this. i love naley but im loving the drama.
October 5th, 2009 at 10:50 pm
oh yeah, the whole renee thing with haley at the end was so set up, poor haley. she walked right into that.
October 5th, 2009 at 11:07 pm
i miss leyton. one tree hill hella sucks now.
October 5th, 2009 at 11:15 pm
all i have to say is i love a good Haley slap/punch whatever!
October 5th, 2009 at 11:17 pm
that slap was brilliant, better than the rachel one!
go hayley!!!
October 5th, 2009 at 11:22 pm
I think Quinn will begin to get better as a character and lighten up when she interacts more with Clay. I’m interested in them as friends and a couple as well. I think Clay and Quinn has potential.
I have always liked Julian since last season. Julian is stil one of my fave new characters. I like how Julian relates with Brooke and how well he treats her. The only thing I hope Mark does for Julian is for him to have Julian revive his movie producing career. I want Julian with his own occupation again. I also want Julian to get back some of his edge and ambition as this will ensure he is a well rounded character.
Julian and Brooke have been getting some great romantic scenes the last 4 episodes. I have been enjoying all of it because I know the drama, insecurities, and misunderstandings are coming soon(Brooke is already starting to worry). I don’t mind the drama as long as we see some good scenes and making up time with Brooke a Julian. As a long suffering Brooke fan. I just want her to find lasting happiness with the man she loves. I don’t want to see Brooke always lose the man she loves. So I’ll be rooting for them on the show.
Millie is enjoyable this season. And Alex has been fun as well. Haley was great tonight. I would like more couple time for Nathan and Haley. I also liked Victoria’s return.
October 5th, 2009 at 11:50 pm
Quinn is the worst new character and I’m sorry but Shantel is not a good actress. That scene where she asked for divorce was horrible. This is 4th episode so no one can say she’s new on the show, Rob and Jana are doing much better job.
I loved this episode, Noisettes were amazing and it was good to see Victoria back.
I think Rachel is behind Renee too.
October 6th, 2009 at 12:16 am
First of all I might be the only one but I actually liked the episode. I loved that we actually had a little more naley moments (not as much as I’d like, but will take what I can get) and jamie/nathan. I’m glad Nathan is stepping up and taking hold of his responsibility and trying to explain it to jamie you know dan would’ve never done that. I’m glad haley is sticking up for nate and not believing all of this and that they are showing more of joy its about time. Haley punching that Renee girl was great to see. I have a sneaking suspicion that dan or rachel has to do w/this whole renee thing. I’m kinda over mouth he’s just a filler for me. The fashion show was ok I mean I’m glad millie got to shine a little more this episode and their right size zero isn’t a size haha. I liked victoria, brooke, julian etc. interactions they were funny. I felt so bad for quinn’s husband david he looked devestated and deserves someone better Quinn can have clay. I agree with some this season isn’t the best season they ever had, but its getting better.
October 6th, 2009 at 12:29 am
^^no ginny. quinn deserves nobody, i dont want her anywhere near clay.
i agree mary about shantel. i know its only a tv show, but she is not that good of an actress. im going to have to give casting a thumbs down on that.
i also dont like the character of quinn.why didnt they just bring back taylor. at least we met taylor, and understand her. they could have brought her back, and have her be in a place in her life where she is trying to change.
October 6th, 2009 at 1:12 am
i totally agree with you, quinn’s storyline is getting pretty repetitious and boring. she keeps stating that she doesn’t know who she is and thats why she is ending the marriage. okay, once they get a divorce, what do we have to look forward with her character? I think i could learn to like her if she wasn’t so mopey and sad all the time.
Julian and Brooke are my favorite, but i cant wait to see more drama from them since everything is going smooth for them in the last couple of episodes.
But my favorite part would have to be when nathan took the high road and said “no comment” whereas haley who usually is the smarter one goes and knocks out a pregnant woman!
Adding to the quinn, i didnt like clay for butting in her business with her husband, when he merely wanted to talk to her not ABUSE HER. which makes me think maybe clay was brought up in an abusive enviroment
October 6th, 2009 at 5:19 am
I almost didn’t record OTH tonight but after watching religiously for 6 yrs, I found myself running back to my TV at 7:58 and recording it…lol. After watching the first 10 minutes I totally regretted my decision. I fastfowarded to the fashion show and then all the way to Haley hitting the Hoe…I think I might always be curious about whats going on in OTH because it was my favorite show for so long, but I don’t think I am going to waste space on my DVR. As sad as it its going to be I am done with the new OTH.
October 6th, 2009 at 6:17 am
Love Clay and Alex but Quin????ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ! She is so boring and not a good actor (sorry Shantel but think you are better at screaming in horror flicks than trying to develop a character in a series – not meaning to be rude).
Please dont let her hook up with Clay.Too predictable and he is a great character at the moment and that will just bring his scenes down. He wouldnt be attracted to someone so dull.
OT – are we going to get to see more of KYLIE? Although we got to see some fine flesh of hers already.More please!Shes much more Clays type – feisty and ballsy and that voice…hell she could melt chocolate just by talking!
October 6th, 2009 at 7:36 am
Pretty good last nite I was expecting more but it was good
I loved the end when Haley punched Renee awesome lol
Loved Clay I don’t know hes really growing on me he really fits in well with the show
I feel bad for Nathan having to put up with this bull they should just do the paternity test already. Liked the message at the fashion show zero is not a size…and how Alex did that for millie with the whole model thing….I have mixed feelings about Alex but I liked what she did…and I loved brulian…and the interaction between Julian & victoria was funny
I look forward to next week
October 6th, 2009 at 7:59 am
YEAH MORE KYLIE PLEASE.SHE IS SO FREAKING HOT!
QUINN..BLAH!
ALEX…YEAH!
CLAY….LIKING THIS DUDE!
HALEY…YOU GO GIRL.SETUP BUT GREAT FUN!
MOUTH..REDEEMED!
NATHAN…GET SOME B@L1S DUDE PLEASE!
ALL IN, GREAT EPISODE. LOVING THE SEASON 7!
October 6th, 2009 at 8:38 am
Mimi, no come back. But I respect your comments unlike some people who come here to intentionally bash the show. I mean if I dont like a show then I don’t watch anymore, simple as that.
I was actually never a big fan of OTH until I rewatched the DVDs 2 years ago despite wactching the show occasionally on tv.
all the comments about quinn is true. i feel bad for shantel but really this is marks fault and hers. she is just not interesting and if she was only a side character like mouth, i can be okay with that but as a series regular, im not feeling her. she is so mean to david. clay please you already done better. stay away clay, your my fav new character.
October 6th, 2009 at 9:26 am
I can already tell the show is going to revert back to what it use to be. I am a huge Naley fan and I am hating them right now. We are suppose to believe they are united in this scandal, but they have never been more distant. Can they give us one good scene and why did Nathan leave Tric without his wife? Nathan do something because you are really starting to piss me off and now it appears your wife will go to jail because you are not doing anything!!!!
I love Alex, I really like Brullian and I am not worried about Alex in the least.
Clay is great, but no Quinn. Don’t like her or her character and I don’t think she can act to save her life. Sorry to be blunt but that is just the way I see it. Clay needs someone electric, like Alex. They could have so much fun together!
October 6th, 2009 at 10:09 am
Quinn strikes me as depressed or bi-polar. Which is probably how they are having her play it. The road is a journey and we have to travel it in order to see what is happening, if everything is given out right away, where is the fun. Having suffered from Depression she is showing the signs of it. Why I say bi-polar is seeing her in Eposide one she’s happy go lucky, and then boom nothing, which you see again in this episode and when she was on the beach with Jamie in Episode 2.
As for the rest it is starting to get there, since the first two episodes were largely setting the table, now we’re starting to get the meal served to us.
October 6th, 2009 at 10:49 am
Ok I am going to try and write what i am thinking. If anybody wants to chime in please tell me what you think.
I agree with everyone else with quinn. I feel she is just really weak right now. dragging whiny. poor quinn. but is that character being thrown in there to “sort of” replace peyton. she is no peyton but was peyton not the sad child early on. Quinn is having different issues but so far she just seems lost.
Second Clay. Now I am with most – I like him alot. But again with his character although somewhat following a different path he seems like “sort of” a lucas replacement. Not always but there are times. Like last week the haley and clay moment reminded me of a moment when Luke should have been there. The way he jumped in this week and hit that guy at the bar. A luke moment. How he is there (as he should be)for nathan and haley. reminds me a brother relationship sometimes. He sort of seems to have that broken side but maybe a good part in there. I still really like him but i still see it. So anyway I am still watching and I certainly am not trying to always compare all the time and these are just a few exapmles but this is kind of what I have been thinking any ideas and to what anybody else is thinking are welcome! Maybe i am just seeing things that aren’t there:) Set me straight and let me know
A few thoughts on this episode
I very much enjoyed the fashion show and music!!
I liked the moment when miranda stood up for haley during that interview. I also found it fascinating when haley hauled off and hit renee. Great moment. And I loved that Clay was drinking the Fruity looking girly drink. I though that was funny.
Alex is really out there but she makes me laugh sometimes. I found it interesting she did what she did for Millie. Making it so she could go out and model.
Will wait and see what next week brings.
October 6th, 2009 at 11:47 am
^^100% agree with u about clay…its not that i dont like him…its just im trying to get over lucas being gone and it doesnt help lol
October 6th, 2009 at 11:52 am
Liking Clay, Alex and even Miranda…but Quinn…I just have not taken to her yet. She has absolutely no personality and is basically a “nothing”. There is no point to her character other then to take up time that they could be giving for more Naley interaction!! And what is with “Dude”….thats all Quinn said last night, didn’t do a very good job of pulling it off and it drove me nuts…LOL!! The way she dresses reminds me of Peyton and if they are trying to replace Peyton with Quinn they didn’t do a very good job..its kind of a slap in the face. I loved how Haley slapped Renee…..can’t wait to see what unfolds with that next week. Alex and Millie were great as well. And I also enjoyed Victoria. The episode was okay and it was great to have the music…..I just hope it gets better…..hey why don’t you bring Peyton and Lucas back and then it would be great instead of just okay….LOL…hehehe!!
October 6th, 2009 at 12:41 pm
Carrie, I seriously don’t think they are going to bring Lucas back maybe Peyton. Nobody want a trouble maker that can’t keep his mouth shut even celebs. need to know when to shut up. Sorry, but I doubt if he will even find another acting job in this industry. But I really like Peyton and wish they can bring her back and maybe even have her hook up with Clay. Get rid of Quinn!
October 6th, 2009 at 12:42 pm
is it wrong that i like david more than quinn?…lol he seems more interesting tbh….also did he get his wardrobe from lucas in season 1?…i swear ive seen that red t-shirt before lol
October 6th, 2009 at 12:45 pm
wow ‘oth’..pretty harsh…lets not get into a CMM argument yeah?…i personally disagree with ur comment but i dont want to make it a big deal…ps. their not gna bring peyton back without lucas even if they asked hilarie..she said that if they broke up then it would ‘jepordise’ her whole entire work for 6 years…so yeh not gna happen…
October 6th, 2009 at 12:54 pm
October 6th, 2009 at 1:21 pm
ok so putting ur dislike of him to the side for a moment….you SERIOUSLY believe that he will not get ONE more acting role?…not on a tv show or a movie or even a straight to dvd release?…trust me..if worse comes to worse for him there will always be atleast something available to him..not saying it will be great or even good but it will be something….
October 6th, 2009 at 1:43 pm
AmandaC, you are right about that Clay move being very Lucas-esque. I still liked it though.
October 6th, 2009 at 1:55 pm
Ya i agree
Love Victoria
Quinn is meh… is she a main character?? ha
good episode
however!
Next week looks UNREAL!!!!:O
October 6th, 2009 at 2:10 pm
nathan is such a good dad to jamie i really hope for for naley time i am not believing at the moment that haley 100% believes him as they are so distant with each other maybe it is just they have not had that many scenes together i don`t know but they said they will get through this together but they are so distant what happened to the naley that would sit down and talk to jamie together i understand that nathan shoud be the one to reassure jamie that he did not do anything but i just wish they were a bit more united, they have not really spoken about it together we just know that nathan feels bad and haley says she believes him.
October 6th, 2009 at 2:24 pm
I do know that Lucas and Peyton are not coming back….it was just wishful thinking on my part because this year has been such a let down so far with the new characters! I’m Leyton fan but do know that they aren’t coming back!!!
October 6th, 2009 at 11:28 pm
Come on writers . . . give Quinn a freaking story already . . . I see moments when she is upbeat and having fun that I like her, but the sad thing and puppy dog eyes are starting to get boring! I hear the same things out of her mouth every other scene. Can’t completely blame the actress for the material the writers are giving her. IT IS WEAK! Please make this character’s part more interesting. I really want to like her.
October 7th, 2009 at 12:24 am
Quinn and David scenes were afwul. These characters aren’t enteresting at all. The show gets so boring because if Quinn. There’s no good story about her to make me like her. Where’s good drama? It’s rather diffrent show now and sometimes looks like TEEN drama because we don’t really have adult characters (like Deb, Karen) and smart storylines anymore. The show got too simple. I still watch it just because I LOVE seasons 1-6 and I still like Naley and Brooke.
