E! Online: Sophia Bush & “Boyfriend” Austin Nichols Step Out
Looks like life is imitating art for One Tree Hill costars Sophia Bush and Austin Nichols!
The onscreen couple looked like a real-life twosome as they stepped out at the Hollywood Style Awards last night.
Sophia, who was presenting an award to Max Azria, hit the carpet solo, but she stayed close to Austin inside and was overheard mentioning her “boyfriend” to partygoers.
Austin, who wasn’t presenting or receiving an award, played it coy when asked about his status as her plus-one…
“To be honest, I’m here to drink the free tequila and come to the Hammer Museum because I’m an art lover,” he explained of why he happened to be at the event. “I’m just here to enjoy the party!”
When asked specifically if he was Sophia’s date for the night (which he was so obviously was), he wouldn’t confirm or deny the hookup.
“I’m not gonna say anything except that…I’m here to drink. We were talking before, we have a bunch of friends together, we work together,” he said.
On a purely platonic level, Austin was also seen talking to Zachary Quinto, who was on hand to present an award to Hayden Panettiere.

Really tired of speculative articles like this. Get back to me when you have FACTS, unequivocal statements from either one of them.
As long as they continue to deny it or evade the question (which should be a hint by now, IMO), there’s no point in writing puff pieces like this. Unless you’re a celeb site that needs said puff pieces to increase pageviews. Hmm…

jon and martha: I completely disagree with that. It has nothing to do with me wanting to believe it. I can care less who they date. Maybe they are together, maybe they aren’t. Until I hear it from them or a named source close to them, it’s unconfirmed. That’s how things work in my world, and the world of credible journalism.

either way as some people said just the fact that they havent denied it speaks volumes and also i have a bunch of guy friends which i love and hang with them a lot but i am not with them 24/7 like sophia is with austin so that mean something to me.

Sam: I totally get what you’re saying as well, and as a fan, I understand that reaction and why you’ve come to that conclusion. But a respectable media source, which E!Online is proving its not, wouldn’t use that as rationale. And that’s the angle I’m coming at it from, not from the fan-common sense perspective. That’s not how journalism works. So I’m not naive like one of other posters implied, just looking at things differently than most of your are.

im sure they are together, but i think ever since the whole chad thing that she is very hush, hush about her relationships. She learned from that and even the whole cast did. They never talk about their personal life. Well except for Chad. He’s talked about Kenzie quite a bit.

teendramewhore: trust me i totally get what you mean, my cousin is a journalist and i have seen they way the whole media works and its just twisted how much they manipulate and change things just to make them more interesting. To be honest i dont believe half of the things i read but from the fan point of view and from all the sightings and stuff that has nothing to do with events, in my eyes its pretty safe to assume that they are dating or at least making it seem like it to draw more attention to the show, as jon said it wouldnt really surprise me.

sophia likes to milk the publicity when she can, she did it with jon foster and all talk about her and chad, shes good at pr whoring and using publicity for self-promotion
she doesn’t talk about austin now and didnt talk about james because she was aware of the backlash, she knows she has a lot of haters so she lies and keeps things hidden to protect her image

Sam: The publicity is great for the show. It’s really important to have at least one actor that makes continual media appearances at industry events. They definitely have that in Sophia, and it’s even better when Austin is there, too.

i have to say that i am sooo happy that at least some people here seem to know what they are talking about (teendramwhore,sam). I get from where a lot of people are coming from but in this business 99% of everything comes down to publicity, they might be dating even though everything is pretty much telling that they are, i am not really buying it.
Sophia is really intelligent and i am by no means bashing the girl but she really does know how to work the media to her favour, which to be honest its nothing new in hollywood.
As teendramewhore said i wouldnt assume to much, wait for facts before stating anything or bashing on anyone.

Sandra: Glad to know someone else has similar thoughts! I don’t know whether this is all about publicity, or even partly about it, but until we 100 percent do, I (as a journalist) would and will refrain from saying outright that they are together or even that I think they are.

Enough with the “this is just publicity BS”. Publicity would have been if she actually talked about OTH on the talk show the other day, but she didn’t. This is not publicity for the show, this is publicity for Sophia Bush. She denies it or doesn’t want to admit it because she is not ready for the fall out about her dating yet another co-star. I mean it wasn’t so long after she broke up with James. She knows she is will get flack and tarnish her image even more. She is trying to come off as Americas girl next door, but clearly she isn’t. This is why I think she is a phony, don’t say one thing and turn around and do another.

Anyone who follows Sophia knows that she never talked about her private life to media after whole Chad fiasco so you’ll never get statement from her about Austin.
I still don’t know if they are together or just good friends but good friends really don’t spend all their free time together unless Austin is really gay like that Ted guy keeps hinting at.

I agree though, I liked Sophia when she was with Chad and even after Chad because we all saw her as the woman who got cheated on, I think she used that sympathy to the best of her ability and wants to keep that going by acting like Ms. Innocent girl next door.
Clearly Sophia knows the consequences of constantly dating co-stars. This isn’t the first time and I highly doubt it will be the last. I won’t be shocked if Robert is next, she went through James, Chad and Austin already. Why not go to Robert and maybe swing by Lee or even Mark!!
I don’t want to believe it and I see what TeenDramaWhore is saying but it’s getting harder because she is milking this with all she has got. She won’t give an answer because it keeps her in headlines and keeps people going. If your dating him, than just say, if you’re not than say that! There is no need to keep it a big mystery, people are getting tired of the “Which Co-Star is Sophia Dating?” game, it’s really getting old now.

Either way i dont get the whole sophia doesnt talk about her personla life since chad, she didnt mind talking about jon more than once and even walked the red carpet with him more than once… With the whole james thing is a totally diferent story since the guys is known for being extremly low key so no wonder she never spoke about him, austin seems like he doesnt mind the whole hollywood thing so thats why he goes with her to all this events…
Either way there are only 3 options, either he is really gay, maybe just really good friends or they are playing the media which to be honest is working wonders since everybody keeps talking about them hahahaha

MB Davis- I only speak what I believe. I think I would respect her more if she owned up to it instead of hiding it. Dang, how many events has she attended this past few days. She loves to glam up and pose for those paparazzi, while everyone else actually works on other projects other than the show, her second job is posing for the camera!!!! I telling you she should be a model instead of an actress.

I think they are dating and i’m ok with that. it’s there business. i like their characters on the show but im not in love with them. I feel like Sophia should really stop dating co-stars though, look how that ruined Brucas. Thank god, Naley was established cuz the thought of Nathan and Brooke, again, makes my stomach turn. Even though i know james and sophia are not nathan and brooke, seeing together though still makes me wheezy. but anyways, i just hope this doesnt affect the show like her relationship with lucas, but then again , i loved brucas and was sad to see them go. if brulian goes, im alright with that.

Do you really think Craig invited her to talk about 700th season of OTH like NY post said it in their blog. Everyone who goes to talk shows talk about themselves and then they play some stupid clip and that’s it. When it comes to Sophia it’s always double standard but I find it funny how haters care more about her promoting the show or how many appeareances she has then actual fans.
About Austin, Ted is again calling him out! This is going on for years now, I know he’s gossip columnist but I wonder if he’s right. I don’t get gay vibes from Austin but who knows.

I know. I too would respect Sophia more if she just came out and said it. I think she is playing games to just gain some publicity but clearly it’s starting to back fire.
LOL a Model! I think Sophia is pretty but she is a little too old to start modeling. Most of those model stated at like 15 years old. I agree though, Joy has side projects and the other actors do other things, they all don’t have the time to hit the red carpet like Sophia all the time. It’s cool that she can but she doesn’t seem to be promoting the show to say she is in the lime light. This is what gives her money, you think she would want to tell everyone about it when she hits the red carpet.

Hey, I just come here to read up on OTH and get promos and other stuff related to OTH and poof there she is again! So I comment, there happens to be a spot for it so why not. I comment on other things as well, I like to comment, I have opinions. Why bother to have a place where you can leave a comment if you can’t comment about what you feel. It is not like I go and search for her and seek her out to bash her. She appears here on the blog and so I comment! She isn’t all that and after 7 years of trying her hardest to become all that, well can we say D-list.

I think Sophia and Austin are currently dating which is no big deal. I don’t get the fuss. It seems perfectly normal. They can do what they want. But I could careless. I just happen to enjoy Sophia and Austin’s friendship and working relationship on OTH. That is all that matters to me.

Criticizing Sophia for dating people she works with would be like criticizing someone for dating people they work with or go to school with. Where should she meet people? At bars? On the internet? Come on, people, you’re serious deluded.
By the way, cmmfan, do you have the same low opinion of Kenzie, Chad’s…girlfriend, wife, escort, who knows? She shows up everywhere she can for attention and she doesn’t even have a job. Good thing Chad isn’t with Sophia or he wouldn’t have gotten the amazing opportunity to buy Kenzie a boob job or take her to Vegas so she can wear a bikini for some pictures. He attended the Ronson event in NYC with her, she did the red carpet and he didn’t. She was photographed and he wasn’t. Several people blogged about him being their.
He went to the Hamptons with her to attend a party at her friends new restaurant. She was photographed and he wasn’t. Again, several sources wrote about it and saw them together.
When they were in LA together last time he attended her friends wedding with her. The also attended the CW upfront party, both were photographed, both representing OTH.
Just this last weekend they were both seen together at the Austin airport (his hometown), the Austin City Limits concerts and at a restaurant having lunch.
Now this weekend, she attends three events and appears on Craig F and KTLA and Bonnie Hunt. She is on the red carpet for all three events. He flies in and is her date for two of the events, not photographed but seen with her by several sources.
Most likely the reason they are not walking the carpet together is for privacy and because they don’t want to overexpose themselves as a couple and hurt the show.
If folks want to see them as a couple then they have to watch them on the show. It’s a smart PR move.
Mark did an interview recently in which he talked about the grass roots promotion he does for the show. He talked about how he likes to line his stars up for certain events and get them out there. Robert Buckley has recently attended events and also been giving interviews. Sophia was in LA to edit the episode she directed, support a some good causes, a designer friend and give interviews.
Like it or not Sophia is the most recognized face on the show, the network isn’t going to go out and spend tons of money to promote the show, so it’s upto the show and the actors to keep it in the headlines and get it some attention to attract viewers. So it makes perfects sense that Sophia is out doing just that.
