Why does every OTH actor direct an episode? Do they REALLY want to be directors or are they just bored and want to try something new? Cuz you know they’ll NEVER direct anything else. I just think its weird. Plus I’m sure they’re not REALLY directing…just going through the motions cuz you don’t see any difference in the episodes when one of the actors directs.

UGH This is exactly why I cannot stand this woman. All the other actors talked about how much fun it was and as expected she’s sitting on her ass praising herself as usual. I don’t give an eff about what compliments you received and how you’re so good at it. God just shut up and stop praising yourself in every damn interview. She did it with Bonnie and she’s at it here again.

I can’t believe I was a fan of her. She’s the most self-centered and obnoxious celeb on the CW.

So obviously she directs better than James, Joy, Chad and even the directors who are actually directors by profession, or at least she seems to think everyone on the show thinks so. Now she has become the best director ever, of the show.

Exactly. Their interviews were interesting because they talked about how diferent it was from being an actor and how your visions change as a director….I thought what they said was so interesting.

Sophia here is talking about her OCD (does she even know what the means because hello there are people in real life who really have OCD which can be debilitating)and how people were saying they wish she could direct them every day. Honestly, woman, I don’t care. I thought you might talk about how you appreciated the opportunity and what it meant to you not what praise you got.

It’s obvious she’s nothing but a PR whore who takes every opportunity to self-praise and show how amazing she is…only she’s not.

Maybe it was Austin or Jackson. I bet Jackson said the same thing to James. But ya know James didn’t feel the need say anything. He let’s his cast mates do his praising which is how it should be. I am sure James got a lot of praise and accolades too from his the actors and staff on the show.

CMM and Joy asked Mark to direct. James initially said he is too young and he has a lot to learn still. But Mark said he knew instinctivelly that James would be great and so he did. It looks like Sophia said “I wanna do it too!” If they can, why not me!”

^ Of course you would think that, maybe Sophia didn’t want to do it last year because she thought she wasn’t ready, you guys always have to bash everyone, few days ago it was James and now it’s back to Sophia.

No one ever had anything to say about directing because honestly I don’t see any difference between directors but I can bet after 7×09 haters will come here and start talking how Sophia did a bad job etc.

I agree with what ppl have said about her being a little into herself about this process. The whole “I wish you could direct me everyday” is her complimenting herself but does she realize she just insulted the rest of the directors on the show? And how she didn’t have time for her own wardrobe…what a tragedy. She just sounds conceited here.

The rest of the cast who directed didn’t get articles in magazines, but once Sophia directs she gets all this publicity. I’m over her trying to present this perfect image. It just kinda old.

I’m sure she did do a good job though, I’m not doubting that. I hope it was a good creative outlet for her.

I hate to be the one who says it…

But what’s so big about directing? Is it really that hard? A 10 year old can sit on their ass and yell out orders. I highly doubt it’s some big hard thing to do, why does everyone make a big fuss over it.

About James being a direct, they guy should be. He’s can’t act to save his life, some people need to be behind the camera.

I don’t think directing is hard. You have kids in high schools who direct their own short films. If Sophia “i never directed in my life” Bush can do it, I’m sure anyone else can. It’s not being negative, I’m just not jumping for joy and screaming how talented Sophia is. It’s just directing! You tell me she wrote a script or something than maybe I’ll be impressed, till than it’s whatever.

I respond to the people! If someone mentions something, I will say what I feel. I don’t think James can act and I’m glad he is behind the camera rather than in front of it. He should stay there.

I love Sophia, I really do but.. this is kinda getting old. She gets way too much publicity and I think she might be a tiny bit conceited. But that’s off topic, I can’t wait to see the episode she directed, I’m sure its fabulous. And she’s looking gorgeous as usual.

i think she looks gorgeous and it’s nice that they get to experience directing. her interview is cute! it’s something different for them! and for the people who think that it’s easy..it’s not! all jobs are difficult.

in addition the article is an INTERVIEW. meaning the journalist asks questions, she answers. most probably the interviewer asked her how the other actors reacted to her directing and she answered in her own way.

She’s probably getting attentions and interviews because she is more known than the rest of the cast. The interviewer wanted to know about her experince it’s not like she hunted them down and made them ask questions about her.. Just because you hear more about her doesn’t mean she’s in love with her self. It’s just like how cmm use to get this much attention as well.

After 7 years they all got chance to direct,it’s a good publicity for the show and their careers,nothing bad about that.

Wow! She looks great! Can’t wait to see how the episode goes. I don’t think anyone should be saying that it isn’t difficult to direct, because they wouldn’t know until they’ve actually tried it. Your also pretty much demeaning the director proffession, and insulting directors by saying their job could be done by anyone. I would think it is quite a challenge. Also, it must have been difficult for Sophia, James etc, because they were also juggling acting whilst they directed = double the load. I really wish people wouldn’t be so hateful about the actors and actresses, I’m sure Amy tries really hard to keep this site at its best and it’s ruined when petty people just decide to hate on the cast for whatever reason. Plus, the only reason Sophia gets a little more publicity is because she is better known than the other cast, equally Chad got quite a few articles when he wrote/directed, because he’s also better known. It’s like whenever OTH is in the tv guide’s in England, they’ll usuaally use pics of Chad or Sophia because they are more recognisable faces. There’s nothing more to it, they’re just trying to promote the show, and it’s silly that it should be twisted to imply that Sophia only cares about getting her face out there. Personally, I’m excited for this episode, as I would be if any other cast member were to direct!!

LOL An amazing Actor? Are we watching the same show? James has a nice body and I mean ONLY BODY!! His face doesn’t measure up to the rest of him. Shantel also has a nice body, clearly this is what got them their jobs. James can’t act, I never thought he could. Shantel can’t act either, they both are dull ass people. Clearly neither one of them have any personality.

They give nothing to their characters, it seems to scripted, hell robotic if you want to say that.

Sophia might be nice but she likes attention. Just like the family with the balloon, she will do and be at everything in order to get a picture, article or interview. If the chick comes out with a porn video, I won’t be shocked!

I do think directing is easy. A lot of people do it, because not all cast members did, doesn’t make it hard. Maybe they aren’t interested in directing. Some people don’t like to sit on their ass and tell people what to do.

Like I said I see little high school and middle school kids directing some good things, now if they can do it, I’m pretty sure someone whos got over 10 years on them can.

Chad did get a lot of interviews but he never took the opportunity to act like an arrogant human being. Sophia on the other hand…

I’m so disgusted that I used to love her. The more interviews I see the more I realize how self-centered she is. I wish she could watch how her peers behave and realize that being humble is actually respected

Ok. Recently, I have been reading some horrible comments about Sophia and this is the first time that I have put my veiw accros.

The quote from the article goes “It was very gratifying because evey single person I worked wit said, “we can’t beliieve that you didn’t do this sooner,”. TO me that does not sound like anybody that is conceted, the is saying it to get her point across. Yes, so James and Joy and Chad didn’t give quotes but if i’m not correct, they did say that they were glad that thay had a possitive reception from the rest off the cast and crew! THis is just Sophias way of saying the same thing!!

It doesn’t mean that she is conceted! She sounds generally supprised that someone would say that!!!!!

As for the dirrecting of the show being very simillar. The director can only work with the scripts that they are given and althouh, there are different scripts every week, thay are the same actors playing the same characters, whos say the lines that the writter of that particular eppisode has written, so of course all eppisodes will still have the same ethos, because it is the one tree hill ethos!!!

However old the characters get, and however more mature they get and any differences are put asside, they will always essentially be the same characters that they were right at the start of season 1.

Ok, so MArk wanted KEith to suggest to Whitey that Lucas joined the team, but Keith himself on the show has elluded to the fact that he would never have sujested that Lucas joined the team if he didn’t think that there was annother side to NAthan that was ready to come out and that there was a part of Lucas that was ready to get to know his little brother.

WHat that reant is really saying is that the show, however many transformations it has undergone, and will undergoe, will always stay the same, so the stylles of the directors will only come through very subtlly as each eppisode is written in the style of the one tree hill ethos.

On to, dirrecting is easy! What the bloody hel do you think you are talking about? The directing of the prmary and middle school children is probably not up to the standed that is needed for a television show!!

Remember, there are actors that have been acting for years, well less with James, but they know how actors wan’t to be directed and they have listtened to directors there whole acting carrier, so they know what they would need to be saying and what needs to be thousgt about with regard to directing a television show. They will come with both hats on, giving it an extra dimenssion.

SO, to the person that said dorecting is easy, try doing it yourself to those dirrectors standards!!!!!

For teh record, I think that Sophia is an amazing actor!

For all those Shantell haters (I am know just saying whats on my mind about all of the posts know that I haven’t out my oppinion accros) she is doing an amazing job with the SCENES THAT SHE HAS BEEN GIVEN!!!!!

Remember, it is not SHantell that decided her story lines and her lines, its the its basiccally Mark and then the writters!!!

So don’t say that you hate SHantell because all that she does is cry about David!!]

When Quin starts to get over the fact that she has left her husband, I am sure that she will be getting more varied storylines!!!

And as for teh people that say she is being a horrible Sister to Haley, she offered to help her with Mirranda when she first came to take the record label away!

ANd with regard to teh whole Reene saga, sometimes, giving people space like she is giving NAthan and HAley is the best thing!!!!!

I think that the actors on OTH do a great job with what they are given! Personally James and Joy are my favorite characters (probably because I Love Nathan & Haley), and James does a great job! Chad, James and Joy did a great job directing ans I am sure Sophia’s episode will be great too,

Amazing would be Paul Johansson, so James is good-great actor.. so no James isn’t amazing; that is stretching it. But I do think you’ve been watching a different show.. maybe you’ve been watching too many episodes from the first Season? He deserves to be in front of the camera as much as he deserves to be behind the camera. He has amazing chemistry with each actor, especially Joy and he delivers each time. His performance last episode was spectacular. He didn’t get the job based on his body; he was this scrawny 17 year old and he couldn’t act at all. He got the job because he was amazing at basketball (He even said that himself on one of the DVD extras) Shantel most likely got it because she probably did really well in the interview and she looks like Joy.

no i am not involved with the show as i said before but i live here in wilmi and i have been on set a lot of times, i did extra for the scene they were shooting at tric when sophia was directing… everything was okay, i dont know if she did a good job directing since i dont have a clue about that lol but i do know that she wasnt really doing anything and just talked to the actors for like a minute, maybe thats what she was supposed to do i dont know… I am not a fan of the girl and i do think that she has a big head but thats just my opinion, she is hot and everything but she does seem to have an odd attitute….

I agree with Vivian, its not Sophia’s fault that she gets publicity..but I would hardly call this being “too into herself”!

In response to Julie, Tela, and Weenie: 1st of all James, Chad, and Joy got a whole interview that was on the DVD to talk about how it was directing. 2nd, this was just a quickie intervie, and 3rd, they probably cut some of her interview.

mackenzie just for your info, james did a couple interviews for the first episode he directed so did chad and joy did one with buddytv too and none of them praised themselves in any way, they praised the actors and said that it was an amazing opportunity, not bashing sophia or anything but the girl have for sure a huge head, she is not as perfect as she claims to be, noone of that cast is, i just wish people would stop putting all these actors on pedestal.

i like sophia, i really do but it’s getting harder and harder. i could care less about the james/chad/austin stuff. i have a friend who was a waitress in toronto and when sophia was here last year for TIFF my friend said she was a total bitch. the place my friend works at is a rooftop patio/bar which is full of young twenty-somethings. the place is packed and it’s in yorkville (a nice part of toronto where all the celebs stay during TIFF, it;s basicallt TIFF headquarters). i guess some girls were excited to see her and wanted to chat with her. when they approached her she totally brushed them off and laughed as they walked away embarrassed. she then asked to be moved to a corner table. anyone in toronto knows that if a celeb wants to be seen during TIFF you hang around in yorkville. it’s common knowledge. when my friend told me that i was really, really bummed.

To all those criticizing Sophia for only talking about herself in this piece–

Do you have any idea what goes into an interview and turning it into an article? Even if the interview was just 10 minutes, Sophia probably said a TON about all different things. But the writer and editor boil it down to what they want and try to weave it together as best they see fit. Just because this piece makes it look like all she did is praise herself, that doesn’t mean that’s actually what she did.

James did a bunch of interviews as you saw recently, and they all barely focused on directing. It has a lot to do with the questions the interviewer gives them and what agenda the publication itself has. Additionally, since James’ episode is airing this week, we may see “part 2″ of the interviews where the conversation is explicitly about that. This TV Guide Mag piece was obviously premature since James’ ep is airing first, and they missed the bigger story–two lead actors directing their own show nearly back-to-back. But, then again, it depends a) on what is pitched to them by the PR department working for either the actor or show and b) what the magazine itself wants to focus on and what their deadline and space allotment is.

I agree about the spin, editing, agenda, timing, etc. that go into these interview. Hopefully, the PR folks and reps for these actors pay attention to the perception and feedback that results from the reports, stories, and interviews because maybe they will rethink how they’re clients are being viewed. Sophia’s agents need to have her back a little more. However, my guess is that she drives her own PR.

I hate how it’s always on the Sophia posts. I get having you’re own opinion, even if it means you hate her but a lot of you go way, and I mean way, too far.

ok i read it, its wasnt that bad. im a little mad that the storylines that they named, didnt mention haley, but it did mention millie…..not sophia’s fault….MARK!

I think its great that OTH allows the actors of the show to branch out and try directing! I think that all the “sophia haters” are CRAZY! Just get over it. The more you blog about it the more publicity she will get. Personally I love Sophia. I have met her a few times. And I have been an extra a few times and everytime she seemed like such a sweet and down to earth person.
