The CW, however, perked up. “One Tree Hill” (2.7 million, 1.3) was up 30% and hit season highs across the board. “Gossip Girl” (2.2 million, 1.2) rose too, up 9% in the adult demo and 20% in the CW’s key demo.

yes! awesome episode

Those are okay ratings! Hopefully the show can keep it up. I wonder what the actual final ratings were though?
October 27th, 2009 at 1:17 pm
Wow, Gossip Girl just seems to be doing badly this season.Granted, One Tree Hill is not doing that much better, but it’s been below two million a couple times this season and this is only the start of the season. What about after the hiatus? I can’t believe they are trying to make a 2.2 look good? Seriously? If a show has been on for seven years, lost two cast members, gets way less promotion then you, and even has a time slot disadvantage is beating you then that’s seriously saying something!!!

Also keep in mind that CW is seeing big increases in the DVR#’s,
Here is an article from 10/26 about it
http://tvbythenumbers.com/2009/10/26/the-cw-again-leads-all-networks-in-percent-increases-from-live7-dvr-playback/31592
“Monday tandem of GOSSIP GIRL and ONE TREE HILL also posted strong gains from DVR usage, with GG up 61% in women 18-34 (3.55rtg v. 2.21rtg), 59% in adults 18-34 (2.14rtg v. 1.35rtg) and 65% in women 18-49 (67%, 2.32rtg v. 1.14rtg); while OTH grew 61% in women 18-34 (2.25rtg v. 1.40rtg), 51% in adults 18-34 (1.54rtg v. 1.02rtg) and 54% in women 18-49 (1.74rtg v. 1.13rtg).”

I don’t think DVR means much. Nielsen ratings are what really count.

Man, oth is killing gg. I’m sensing a season 8.
oh no! they are way rushing clay quinn. I’m all for him opening his heart again to love, but not with Quinn!!!!
October 27th, 2009 at 1:45 pm
I don’t like that promo at all Maggie. I don’t want a Clay and Quinn promo sorry.
October 27th, 2009 at 1:53 pm
^Melissa I don’t like Quinn and Clay either… I never said I did. I really liked Sarah but unfortunately she’s dead. But I like the fact that it is raining. I am a Naley fan so I am hoping for some of them in the rain!! I just posted it on here thinking people would want to see it(At the time Amy or whoever had not put it up yet)…not in any way to show that I am a Quinn Clay shipper cause I am not. I never was on that boat.
October 27th, 2009 at 2:01 pm
Lol, that’s good to know Maggie. I’m sorry, but I just really can’t get into them.
October 27th, 2009 at 2:02 pm
I’m really not feeling Clay/Quinn, it’s too predictable and they really don’t have chemistry, not to mention Shantel is a really bad actress, even guest stars like Amanda were better.
October 27th, 2009 at 2:14 pm
Last night’s episode was a mixed bag for me since I was bored through much of it. Just could not get into Quinn/David and the resolution of Naley’s drama was not as exciting as I had imagined. There was so much drama build up for Naley and I felt the climax was too anti-climatic. Though I did really enjoy Brooke/Julian’s scenes and enjoyed Clay/Sara’s story.
However I’m very happy that One Tree Hill did so very well in the ratings and demos last night. It’s always good to see ratings remain stable or show a rise. As I have said before its great to see One Tree Hill garnering good, stable, and reliable ratings for the CW this season. One Tree Hill is still one of the most reliable series for the CW even after 7 seasons. That is good news!

quinnandhaley-if you are going to curse at people who hate quinn, then you better get ready, a huge majority of fans dont like her. just because we dont doesnt give you the right to call people (who you never met) names, and act like a 2 yr old who needs their mouth washed out.
as for the ratings, great job oth. im loving this season…expect quinn, and i hate the idea of clay/quinn.
October 27th, 2009 at 2:21 pm
Wow, that language is not necessary at all.You seriously get that riled up about a fictional television character?! She’s not real!!! People have a right to voice their opinions, and if you don’t like that someone disagrees with you don’t read or comment back. There is absolutely no need to act like a elementary student.
October 27th, 2009 at 2:50 pm
Wow! Sometimes you can really guess a persons age or IQ by their comments! Some people need to grow up. I am a HUGE One Tree Hill fan, but it is just a television show!
Glad One Tree Hill is doing so well. You can’t compare the CW to the other major networks. OTH’s #’s are great for the CW.
October 27th, 2009 at 3:33 pm
Clearly someone needs help, LOL.
October 27th, 2009 at 4:17 pm
I don’t really mind Quinn since every other storyline is at least mildly entertaining. I remember how much fans resented Peyton’s negativity when the show first started… so much that they made her less brooding.
October 27th, 2009 at 5:43 pm
Ratings: they speak for themselves, there’s no need for me to make a real comment about them
October 27th, 2009 at 5:58 pm
Erik I can kinda see where your coming from, but I still thought it was good. It still surprises me each time she says Nathan’s not the father. I don’t know what else they could have done, you know? This is kinda how I pictured it ending, lol.
Awesome ratings! I know that may be stretching it, but I’m looking at ratings from all TV shows on The CW, even if they are on different nights, and they all fall in the 2 mark. I would be concerned if others made it to the 3 mark, but none of them have (right? or did I miss something? lol) Go one tree hill! haha.

Danika, most CW shows with the exception of maybe vampire diaries are all about in the 2 mil range, except MP, which i think is even lower. Last season and this season, OTH has outdone GG (there were only a handful of episodes where GG had more viewers than OTH and even then it wasnt that much of a difference). The veteran shows of the CW, supernatural and smallville all pull about the same numbers of the newer shows, but unlike those new shows, how many of them have a strong base like OTH and smallville, even supernatural. i mean vampire is doing great but how long will that last? GG was great first season and its numbers have since declined. OTH came out at the same time as the OC (remember that show lol) and of course has out lasted it and i wouldn’t be surprise if it outlasts 90210 or GG.
…
these numbers though low are still good for the CW and for OTH. With 30 percent increase for OTH and only 9 for GG, its clear most people tuned in for OTH. I sort of wished OTH ended with a little bit more suspense so that more people might want to tune in next week.
Erik im wiht you, im happy with the episode though it wouldve been better if we got “more” with naley. i think if they left to go to the docks or something that would’ve been great but im still happy renee got resolved, though i wouldnt be suprise to see her show up again with clay’s baby .. lol
October 27th, 2009 at 9:11 pm
I think it helped alot with James doing alot press for this episode!!!
October 27th, 2009 at 9:51 pm
I really enjoyed the last episode and I was surprised because I didn’t like the season premiere and I miss Lucas & Peyton. But I am starting to like oth season 7. Quin and Clay are cute. and what happened to sarah was sad.
I can’t wait for the next episode.
October 27th, 2009 at 11:40 pm
Okay, thanks for clearing that up. I wasn’t really counting Vampire Diaries since they’re brand new and vampires are “in”. lol. Yeah, I’m surprised The OC didn’t last that long. It was like 10 million for the Series premiere and it slipped and then it was like 3 million at the end.
I agree, but next week is just a filler episode since this one was.. suspenseful.. okay that’s not the right word but you know lol. After next weeks episode, I think we’ll get more drama again but I’m excited for next episode. I need some comedy again! haha, it’s been too serious.
October 28th, 2009 at 12:35 am
yeah i think that next weeks episode is more of a relaxed epi, since all the drama.
now that naley is done with the renee drama i wonder what other storyline they will get this season. im hoping that it is good, and full of naley cuteness.
