7.09 Now You Lift Your Eyes To The Sun Recap
Julian is asleep on the couch with Alex’s script. Brooke wakes him up. She missed him sleeping with her. He was up until 4 with Alex. Brooke says she’s trying but it’s been hard with him working with her. He says he knows but he thinks they’ll be done today. They kiss.
Nathan reads a contract. Clay says they’re going to negotiate. They offered 2 years, they are going to ask for 4. Clay asks him to trust him.
Millie raids Alex’s closet. She says she’s worn all her COB dresses. Millie says she has a party to go to. Alex is bored with the same people. Millie comes out in a blue dress and Alex is surprised she looks so good in it. She tells her to take it off.
Mouth wakes up to a room full of clothes everywhere and he calls for Millie. He starts to pick up and finds a bag of pills.
Haley walks into TRIC. Miranda is upset she is doing a free concert.
Clay discusses the contract at his house. Quinn is there. Clay says he has to wait and Quinn says wait with me and tells him to bring his office.
Dan and Rachel land in Tree Hill. Rachel seems disgusted getting off the plane.
Quinn takes Clay to a class. She says her and Haley used to help in school. Quinn says they make homemade cameras and let the kids pictures. Clay is impressed.
Brooke shows Haley the new dress for COB and gives her concert clothes. Brooke says she’s worried because she thinks she’s pregnant. She doesn’t think Julian will be excited. Haley says it happens unexpectedly and it turns out well. She doesn’t want him to think she was excpecting this. Haley tells her to quit worrying.
Julian and Alex discuss the ending of the script. Julian announces the script is done. He says it’s time to kick it out of the nest and see if it can fly. Alex asks what’s next. He says put out some calls. She says she’ll look for a production office. She asks if they’ll see each other anymore? He says no, she’s off-duty.
Clay watches a kid play ball. He asks if he needs an agent. he says he doesn’t need charity. He says are you playing or what.
Nathan answers the door to Dan whom he promptly shuts the door on.
Jamie runs in, excited to see Dan. He gives him a hug. Dan says you remember my wife, Rachel. They both walk in. Jamie says nice to meet you Grandma Rachel. Rachel: I remember when you were a rumor in 3rd period. Jamie takes Dan to see his room.
Clay plays ball with the kid. He asks if Quinn is his girlfriend and he says no. He says he’s letting him win. He knows he’s volunteering just to feel good about himself. Clay tells him he lost his wife a few years back. He tells him his mom died too. Clay asks him to talk about it. He used to think he would forget but he hasn’t. He says sometimes he feels like she’s there. Clay says she is, Moms are special that way.
Brooke sits in the doctor’s office, she looks happy.
Julian calls his dad. He tells him he has a script that is ready to see if it can fly. He wants to know if he can produce it with him. It’s about second chances and it made him think of them. He says he’d like it very much.
Jamie shows Dan his jerseys. Dan apologizes for missing so much. Jamie says he never misses his show and he’s glad he’s home.
Rachel surprises Mouth at home.
Brooke talks to the doctor. The test is negative.
Jamie and Nathan play ball at the RC. Jamie asks about Rachel. He’s happy Dan’s happy. Jamie confesses he watches Grandpa Dan. Nathan knew and it’s ok he misses him. Jamie says he’s different now. He helps people. Nathan says there are things he doesn’t understand. Jamie says he’s not a kid anymore. Only 3 words…I forgive you.
Rachel and Mouth talk at his apartment. She says LA is great. She enjoys being Dan’s wife. Mouth asks about Brooke. She says she hasn’t seen her and doesn’t want to. She says she blackballed her in the industry. Mouth says it wasn’t Brooke’s fault. She went out on a limb for her and then you stole from her.
Brooke and Haley talk at TRIC. She’s upset she’s not pregnant. She’s just stressed. Haley comforts her.
Quinn and Clay are in a dark room together. Quinn says she’s staying in Tree Hill. They start to kiss and Clay’s phone rings. It’s a rumor Nathan has good news. He says he should go and he’ll see her at Haley’s concert.
Alex talks to Julian. She’s freaking out about it after she read it. He says goodbye, he has plans with Brooke. She says she doesn’t like being alone.
Haley and Miranda talk backstage. Miranda says there are a lot of people and she must be nervous. Haley wasn’t until Miranda starts worrying her.
Alex stares at a mirror with drugs on it.
Brooke and Julian talk at the bar. He gets a call. Julian talks to Alex. She found some coke in her suitcase. He says he’s on his way.
Clay talks with nathan at the bar. Chase comes to talk to them and introduces Grubbs, the new bartender. Nathan and Clay celebrate with a drink. Quinn walks up. Grubbs tells her she needs white wine.
Haley sings. Brooke gets a message and gets up from the bar. Julian tells Brooke he’s on the way to help Alex. Brooke is upset. He says he’ll hurry back.
Millie comes up to Mouth in the crowd. She asks if she looks good. She’s wearing COB new design. Mouth says she always looks good.
Alex hugs Julian.
Brooke yells at Millie about the dress. She says take the dress off or it’s her job. Millie complains to Mouth. Mouth says is that why you’re taking pills? So you can look fab somewhere else. Millie says so what. She has a lot of pressure. She wishes it were simple but it’s not.
Alex cries with Julian. He asks about her sponsor. She says it was just publicity. She says today was hard, she didn’t have anywhere to go. She hates herself when it’s quiet. Julian says she’s so much more than she sees. She’s bright and funny and strong and she doesn’t need drugs. She wishes she could see her. Julian says let’s just get through tonight.
Nathan tells Haley she was amazing. Nathan spots Dan and Rachel across TRIC. Haley says he’s the healthiest looking dying man she’s seen.
Rachel tries to give Brooke money. Brooke says she took more than money. Rachel says she’s trying to apologize. Brooke slaps Rachel and tells her to stay away.
Nathan and Dan talk at the bar. Dan apologizes for surprising him. He wants a chance. Nathan says it’s not going to happen. He says he thought Renee would help. Nathan asks if he did it for him. Dan says no. Nathan says there’s no golden ticket in his life. When Keith died, he died. Nathan leaves and Dan takes a drink.
Clay and Quinn are at the bar. Clay says the kids were good for him. She asks about the contract. He says it will work it out. Quinn says she has to leave. Clay stops Quinn and says who says tonight is over.
Brooke and Julian talk. She’s home and wants him home. He’s worried about Alex. Brooke sits at home alone.
Dan and Rachel talk at the bar. Rachel says let’s go back to LA. Dan says the small town is the closest thing to home and we shouldn’t run away. He’s not leaving until he gets what he came for: redemption.
Quinn and Clay are at the beach. He asks to go swimming. She says she’s afraid. He says maybe he is too…he’s afraid to move on and feel something for someone new. But he’s tired of being afraid. He kisses her. He says he shouldn’t have done that but he wanted to for so long.
Julian helps Alex pour the drugs down the drain. There are none in there. Julian gets mad and says she was acting. You see Millie doing the drugs.
Brooke cries. She wants to be the girl that gets the baby and boy. She throws out her birth control.
Nathan and Haley talk at home. She’s worried about Dan hurting them. He says it’s fine. Haley asks for an encore performance. On the news, they hear someone else gets the spot on the Bobcats.

good episode.
hated quinn/clay tonight…no big suprise there. and tyring to show quinn has a “good” quality with children…please.
loved the little bit of naley we had….mark we need more.
felt so bad for brooke, i knew she wasnt going to get pregnant, but her line “why cant you get the guy and baby” put a pin in my heart
julian…….what happend to you. i dont even like brulian, but brooke didnt deserve that.
alex, i liked seeing her do something else. millie, grow up, or die already, we dont care about you.
rachel…is it over for her and brooke. i hope not, i liked their friendship.
good cliff hanger at the end, even though, we didnt naley lovin. did clay lie to nathan, when he said that everything was going good?

Dude, i hate Mark Schwahn right now!! (ok, maybe thats a little drastic, but..) come on seriously, let Brooke be happy FOR ONCE! & Julian: leave alex alone. She’s trouble!
Overall, I have mixed feelings about tonights episode.
& p.s. what was with haley’s singing? she sounded so… computer-ized or something?

Thought it was a good episode. I totally disagree with you kelly, I’m really into the Millie sotryline… it’s like and she and Alex switched places. I’m much more into Millie’s story than Clay/Quinn.
I liked having Rachel back in Tree Hill. The slap was AWESOME and I also liked the Rachel/Mouth scene… felt like vintage Season 3 OTH. I’m glad Mouth stood up for Brooke.
Loved Haley’s song! Things are lookin bad for Nathan!

i really like the millie storyline too. i also thought alex (jana) did a really good job in this episode. she’s a good crier.
i feel nothing for quinn/clay. i couldn’t care less about that storyline. it’s actually painful to watch. i sound like a broken record because i say it every week but shantel is a terrible actress. i get embarassed for her. when she has scenes i’m always covering my face and waiting for the torture to be over.
also, i’m really hoping nathan can be happy. i feel like he hasn’t smiled or had fun once this season except for the flashback. he’s like in full zombie mode. remember in season 1 when nathan was cocky and actually had a personality? now he really is becoming a pod person like brooke said in season 2. they need to fix him.

ok, i agree with you sarah that millie’s storyline is more interesting than clay/quinn.
lake, i think next week nathan is going to show a lot of anger towards clay. clay sucks at his job. he is putting this so called “realtionship” with quinn above his job as nathans agent.
nathan i think needs to get away from tree hill for a while, maybe naley could go on vaction, and say f-you, to clay, quinn, and all the crap that has been thrown at them.

liked this episode better than last week.
baley’s scenes were much better this week, more heartfelt and genuine.
tired of the brulian/alex thing, yawn, julian is an idiot andi hope he sees that, brooke has every right to be mad but please brooke, he’s not leaving you so get over it. i did like how she btched rachel and millie out
im surprised to see millie fall so soon but hey whatever, id take her over alex
quinn/clay, yawn, not feeling their chemistry at all. when they kissed, it did not stir up any good feelings at all. in fact with clay dropping the ball on nate’s career, im a little annoyed at him.
naley- great as always, i wish we could’ve gotten a butt smack but their scenes were far too few and far too short. the episode wouldve been much better with more interaction with them i loved nathans talk with jamie and love dan coming back to start trouble.

liked this epi. we need more naley scences though, we had like what 3 in last 2 episodes.
give clay/quinn less time, they are failing as a couple.
i actually like julian and alex.
brooke needs a better man, im shipping her and clay.
loved dan and jamie scenes…so cute. they are each others best friend.
i agree oth, clay did drop the ball on nathans career. to me he is to busy with quinn then on his job.

More Naley scenes??? Please y’all… there’s a reason that Lucas was the main character for 6 seasons. James and Joy and Sophia can’t carry the acting load… that is the reason why so many NEW character were brought in to spread the load… there will never be MORE Naley scenes in an episode.
Not hating on Naley either. Just stating what I have seen from watching every episode since season 1.

Haven’t seen the episode yet, but from the comments here I’m looking forward to it. However, Clay and Quinn’s storyline just does not interest me. Why are they trying to force this relationship on us?
Oh and lake, LOL, I loved your Mean Girls reference regarding Quinn/Shantel.

Are we talking about CMM being a thespian? Really? Good Lord, if I had a dollar for every embittered comment directed at CMM and HB’s departure. Hasn’t it been six months since the confirmation they weren’t returning? As far as acting chops across the board, I love OTH but highly doubt any of the cast past or present will be receiving any Emmy or Academy awards. Sheeesh. Coincidentally, I find it amusing that most of the posters that hate this season are clearly disgruntled and dissatisfied Leyton lovers. Is it a requirement in this club to hate Brooke’s character and bash Sophia in real life? I think LP storyline revolved around their angst of wanting to be together. It finally happened, so what else is there?
With that being said, clearly I’m a big fan of Joy and can’t wait to see Haley on tour. I feel like Naley is and always has been the rock of the show. Hell, they’re the only couple that has been together since the 1st season and survived whatever life has thrown at them. I never get tired of their story. I will agree that I’ve been waiting for some Naley loving. I don’t think they should have another baby though, not with Haley’s music career taking off again. Nathan got a chance to realize his dream. I think she should as well.
Oh and I love Jamie and Dan together. How adorable! Forgive him already!!!

And hence I used the word “most”. I hated the majority of S3 and S6. There’s nothing wrong with having an opinion. It’s too meticulous to document individual posters and their comments, but there is a trend and correlation between people that don’t like this season and fans of Leyton. Just like it’s clear a lot of Sophia/Brooke bashers are die hard LP fans and vice versa. I get it especially if Leyton or Brucas were what drew you into the show. I say appreciate the show for what it is now and move on. If people think it sucks so bad now, turn the channel. That’s my philosphy. I think it says volumes about OTH to still exist, despite cast changes and time jumps, in an era where reality based television and competition shows monopolize the programming. It’s like the little show that could in my eyes and I can’t wait to see what Mark has in store.

It is like the Peyton/Lucas over again. Peyton was so whiny and wanted someone to save her all the time. Mark gave us another Peyton but this time brunette instead of blonde grrrr. Always messing with Brooke!! Why can’t she find someone that focus on her and their lives together instead of wanting to be the hero and save another woman? I mean his girlfriend is alone and he is with someone else who clearly wants him! Brooke deserve better than that.
