7.12 Some Roads Lead Nowhere Reaction

Posted by Amy with 82 Comments

I’m sitting here stumped.  That definitely did not feel like a “normal” One Tree Hill episode.  I’m not saying it was bad, it was just different.  Here’s what I thought:

  • OK, Jamie gets soap in his mouth but then gets taken to the bar by his father? OMG!  That’s what you tell your son?  You go to the bar when you have a bad day?  Come on!  Setting that aside, Grubbs was great with Jamie.
  • Quinn’s dancing was pretty hilarious and Clay’s standing ovation was pretty great.
  • Dan quitting was FABULOUS.  Loved that he left Rachel with nothing.  It was great seeing Nathan thanking Dan and I really wished he would decided to give him a chance.  So Dan’s leaving town?? Where is he going?  What about him and Jamie?
  • I don’t know where I stand with Julian/Alex/Brooke thing.  I don’t see why Julian has to BE with Alex to help her.  Why does he have to leave Brooke?  Yay for Brooke figuring that out and letting him go do that.  But on the other hand, that stinks because I like Brooke and Julian.  I just felt like Julian was making a mistake and it didn’t really add up.  I mean, he was just telling Brooke he wanted kids and he wanted her forever.  But then again, Brooke told Julian she needed time apart.  For the love, I’m so confused and don’t know what to think! Can you tell?! But how conVEENient that Alexander shows up right when Julian leaves her.  And hello, accent!
  • So Millie finally got help but then she walks out?  For the love!  I NEED Millicent to get back to normal.
  • Mouth and Skills off to LA?  Not sure I can handle both of them gone. Luke, Peyton, Skills, Mouth!  Ahhhh….
  • Way to go Jamie for calling Nathan out on firing Clay.  THANK YOU, JAMIE.  Clay admits that he was aggressive and YET Nathan doesn’t apologize.  But whatever because Clay is his agent again and Nathan is a Bobcat.  Holla!
  • So Clay’s insanely in love with Quinn line both at the house and in the ocean was sweet but not sweet to Quinn.  Everyone knows my issues with Quinn and I’m sorry, you have no idea how much I want to like her but I just don’t.  Yes, the dancing was cute.  But other than that?  She’s 1 – complained about David and 2 – talked about Sarah to Clay.  OK, so maybe that’s the whole point…he’s able to talk about Sarah with her.  But that’s it…what are they going to do after that?!  Sorry, little bit of a rant there.
  • On a really good note, I loved the scenes with Mike as Grubbs.  Him and Miranda have great chemistry and watching Grubbs being completely mystified by Miranda’s drink was hilarious.  He looked like a lost puppy dog!  And I loved how Miranda watched him at the piano.  Someone sign that man!

OK, so I feel like my reaction was just as random as the episode.  Was it enough to keep me interested until January 18?  Not the best cliffhanger ever but things are definitely shaken up in Tree Hill and I’ll for sure be back to find out what happens.  If nothing else, I’ll be back to hear Alexander’s lovely accent :)

WWK Spoiler

Meagan in New Jersey: The spoiler chat needs more One Tree Hill. Have anything juicy to share?

I’m hearing from a source that Taylor James, Hailey and Quinn’s bad seed sister from season two, will be back! Lindsey McKeon is reprising her role as Taylor—and she’s not coming back empty handed. She might just have another James family member by her side, and wait a sec, who’s that man on her arm? Hint: You’ve definitely seen him before. Word is, Taylor will be back somewhere around episode 14.

7.12 Some Roads Lead Nowhere Recap

Posted by Amy with 17 Comments

Clay throws his phone in the pool.  Shots of Alex in the tub still bleeding.  Rachel tells Dan it’s going to be ok.  Jamie plays with a red cape.  He sits with soap in his mouth.  Brooke looks at the poster of Julian’s.  Julian finds Alex in the tub and gets her out.  Skills tells Lauren he got the job in LA.  Millie comes to Alex’s room and sees the tub of blood and breaks down crying.  Julian waits at the hospital.  Mouth comes in an sits with Millie in the bathroom while she cries.  Brooke sits down besides Julian at the hospital.

Haley yells at Jamie.  He says it’s what Dan says.  Nathan tells Jamie he goes to the bar when he’s having a bad day.
Quinn shows up at Clay’s.  He’s still packing.  She says she went to his assistant and he said Joe Turner’s mom got sick.    Clay says it’s good.  He plays for a spot Nathan could take.
Nathan takes Jamie to the bar.  Grubbs guesses his drink.  He gives him a root beer and two cherries.
Skills is on the phone.  He tells them he’ll be there on Monday.  Lauren tells him he’ll do great.  Skills says he loves her.  Lauren says he never asked her to go with him.  Skills asks and Lauren says no, she can’t but it’s nice to be asked.
Alex wakes up and Julian is beside her at the hospital bed.  Alex thinks she’s in heaven.  Julian tells her she put him through hell.  She reminds him of what he said.  He was wrong and that’s what he was coming over to tell her because they got financing for the movie so she needs to get better.

Jamie complains to Grubbs.  One day it’s just school and then next..it’s Spain.  Miranda asks Nathan if Haley’s packed for the tour.  Nathan says they’re still dealing with Spain. Grubbs gets her champagne and she says she doesn’t drink it.  He then guess white wine and she says no, I want whiskey.  Grubbs looks confused.  Miranda tells Jamie it’s ok.  Grubbs brings over 4 bottles of whiskey and says he didn’t know.  She grabs one and pours it.  Jamie asks about Spain what’s great.
Clay meets Joe at the hospital.  He says his mom has cancer and he doesn’t know what he’ll do.  He asks if he’s ever lost anyone, what do you do?  Clay says you remember the good things and the things you do have.  Clay asks if it would be better if he played closer to home next season.
Millie tells Mouth about the dress.  Mouth says she has to tell her.  He remembers when he told her how special she is.
Victoria tells someone on the phone there is no comment.  Brooke says she’ll be ok.  Victoria says it’s exhaustion.  Brooke says things can’t get worse.  V tells her about the red dress.
Alex wakes up and Julian says he’s mad at her.  When you die, you’re just dead.
Clay says the last thing he said to Sara was about a pen and then she was gone.  Sometimes people waste words and the chance to say what they mean.  Quinn says Sara knew he loved her.
Dan asks how do you say goodbye.  He says there’s a speech he’s supposed to read and he’s not going to because today’s the last show and it’s time to tell the truth.  Rachel is mad.

Clay tries to get in to the Bobcats but can’t get in the arena.  A lot of cheerleaders are there trying out and Clay suggests that Quinn try out.  She says he owes her.
Grubbs and Nathan throws tomatoes at Jamie that has a trash bag and goggles on.  Haley walks in and berates Nathan and Grubbs. Haley throws a tomato at Nathan and a tomato fight ensues.
Quinn tries out for the Bobcats cheerleaders.  Clay talks to the GM and tells him about Joe.  Quinn follows a girl practicing on the side of the floor.  The GM interrupts Clay as Quinn makes a mess of her try-out.
Tomato fight continues.
Clay gives Quinn a standing ovation and yells “Sucks to be next!”
Brooke sits with Alex.
Dan gives a speech about ability to have compassion.  He’s wealthy but you shouldn’t murder someone and profit from it so as of now, he’s giving it all back…charities, non-profits…people that deserve it, because he doesn’t.  It’s time for him to go.  He turns off his clock.

Nathan, Haley and Jamie sit on the bar messy.  Haley says she’ll miss TRIC.  Nathan says he’ll miss arenas.  Jamie says he’ll miss Dan.
Dan says there is no forgiveness, just with what you do next.  From someone who is there, there is only pain and guilt and the misery of knowing who you are and what you did.  Rachel walks out.  He tells them to just stop, before it’s too late.  He tells Keith he misses him every day.
Nathan and Jamie talk. He tells him the best they could do is Spain.  He asks about Clay.
Clay and Quinn drive home.  Clay asks about her fear of the ocean and says the ocean is not immense, life is.  She jokes and says she might need an agent if she makes the squad.
Brooke tells Alex it all feels selfish to her.  Millie comes in and apologizes to Brooke.   She tells her about the diet pills and drugs.  Brooke tells her she’s not her model anymore but she’s still her friend…go get some help and then walks away.
Mouth drops Millie off at rehab.  She says they were good together and she’s going to miss him.
Brooke tries to draw and throws them all away.  Julian shows up.  They hug.  He tells her he’s going to make the movie with Alex.  Brooke asks when he met Peyton.  He says when she broke up with Lucas and she was crying in the copy room.  She says he found her when she needed help with Sam.  Brooke says and now Alex…  Julian says his mother felt unloved and Julian was gone and no one reminded her how special she was when she drank or took drugs and her fire burned out and she became a not so special person she thought she was all along.  Brooke says he can’t fix his mom by fixing Alex.  He says maybe he can help her before her fire burns out and if not, at least he tried.

Nathan’s agent comes over to sign his contract.  Clay and Quinn walk in and Clay tells them he was aggressive and arrogant and he forgot that he worked for him.  He knows he has a deal but he knows he’s a NBA player and this morning he negotiated him a deal with the Sacramento Kings.  It’s a 15 million deal.  Conditions…they have to leave ISC and they have agreed to trade him and Joe to the Bobcats.  They’re all ecstatic.  Clay’s last condition is he plans to fall completely and insanely in love with Quinn.
Grubbs plays the piano at TRIC.
Skills tells a crying Lauren goodbye.  They both love each other.
Rachel talks to the lawyer and she’s been given divorce papers and he has given away all the money, leaving Rachel nothing.  Dan gets on a bus but sees Nathan.  Nathan says he heard about the show and tells him about the Bobcats and says thanks for helping me get there.  Jamie wants to say goodbye.  He says he has to go.  He’s done a lot of bad things and he’s sorry.  Jamie says he forgives him.
Miranda walks in on Grubbs playing.
The elevator closes on Mouth and Skills.
Millie sneaks out of rehab.
Clay walks on the beach, takes his jacket off and walks towards the water.
Nathan is in a press conference can tells them they have a great agent.
Quinn finds Clay and Clay tells her to come in.  She goes into the water and asks if he meant what he said.  He says insanely in love, yeah.
Haley packs her bus for her tour.  She gets on the bus with Jamie and Nathan.
Alex apologizes to Julian.  Julian says you have to understand if you do it again, I won’t miss you, I won’t think of you so don’t do it again.  He says, ok, let’s make our movie.  Brooke watches from the hall.
Brooke walks into COB.  Someone walks in behind her and he says he’s Alexander…I guess Victoria didn’t tell you…he’s the new designer for the men’s line.

MTV: ‘One Tree Hill’: Jana Kramer Gives Us The Scoop On Alex’s Suicide Attempt

Posted by Amy with No Comments

Longtime “One Tree Hill” watchers shouldn’t be surprised when a plotline pulls a major, dramatic, out-of-left-field twist. After all, it seems to happen every other week. But even longtime watchers like myself were shocked at the ending to last week’s episode (SPOILER ALERT!) when actress/model/aspiring screenwriter Alex Dupre slit her wrists in her hotel room bathtub. The image of Alex’s red blood swirling in the bath water was a haunting note to end the episode on — so we caught up with Jana Kramer, who plays Alex, for the details on her characters tragic actions.

Its hard to understand exactly what was going through Alex’s head when she got into the bathtub, but Jana said she thinks Alex just felt so alone after her fight with Julian (Austin Nichols) that she thought it was her only option. “Julian was the only person who actually believed in her. And when he said to never talk to him again, I think she just felt like, This is it, there’s nobody else. There’s no one. She didn’t have any friends. She was alone. Unfortunately, selfishly, for her, her only escape was to try and kill herself, which I personally think is not the right thing to do.”

PopWrap: ‘OTH’ star: I based my character on Spears & Lohan

Posted by Amy with No Comments

The forecast called for celebutard with a chance of cocaine showers when Alex Dupre first blew into “One Tree Hill.” A carbon-copy of the real-life twentysomething stars who party harder than they work, the actress-turned-model seemed ripe to rip the small town to smithereens.

But once viewers spent time with the girl behind the famous face, it was easy to see the flaws in first impressions — thanks to Jana Kramer.

Jana sounds just like Alex: her bubbly and candid personality is confident and inviting, making it easy to understand that this is a girl who gets what she wants. But on screen, Alex wanted Julian, and when she didn’t get him, she slit her wrists in a suicide attempt.

Shocking viewers during the final minutes of last week’s episode, Alex’s fate remains undecided as fans, including Jana, root for her survival.

PopWrap: Last week had quite the OMG ending with Alex bleeding out in a bathtub. Viewers are dying (no pun intended) to know, will Alex live?

Jana Kramer: You’re going to have to watch and see!

PW: Sigh … well, that suicide attempt was pretty graphic. What was it like to shoot?

Jana: Well, I’m actually terrified of the sight of blood — even the sight of fake blood. So you were seeing raw emotion there.
