is this gonna be Will then?

    Bad. Bad. Bad. Bad. Baaaaaad.

See, this guy = minor character. But in Marks world, minor character always gets a storyline. He’ll just be the friend that Clay meets while in the hospital; fans will adore him; Mark will hear about it; Edwin will get to stay the rest of the season and will get his own storyline!

    Ugh.

  3. Comment by wim in August 11, 2010 @ 1:17 pm

Great casting. I don’t know why the same people are always complaining. You can not have a show with only three actors. The old OTH won’t come back, so if you hate it so much just stop watching.

  4. Comment by kelly in August 11, 2010 @ 1:32 pm

i’d take edwin over clay, quinn, and mia. i don’t even have to him act i can just tell he will be better then those 3 ;)

  5. Comment by kelly in August 11, 2010 @ 1:33 pm

mistake…meant i don’t have to see him act.

  6. Comment by Buttercup in August 11, 2010 @ 1:33 pm

I hope Mark doesn’t like him too much, because then he’ll stay all season, using up the screetime the core cast should have.I mean, Mia & Chase were only supposed to guest star, and they’ve been treated like main characters lately.

I can deal with the guy in one episode, but if he starts having his own storylines…urgh.

  7. Comment by mark in August 11, 2010 @ 1:35 pm

i have a feeling he’ll die. i mean theyre both in comas? i bet clays the only 1 between them and he’ll find out he died and be all sad etc

  8. Comment by Teah in August 11, 2010 @ 1:37 pm

Relax… He’ll only be on for one episode.

  9. Comment by WishMaster in August 11, 2010 @ 1:45 pm

801-803 Clay and Quinn have the most screen-time out of every character on the show.

    801: 13 1/2 minutes
802: about 17 minutes, which leave about 24 minutes for the rest of the characters.
803: 12 minutes; Quinn has scenes with Haley, Jamie, Nathan and of course Clay.

  10. Comment by Danika in August 11, 2010 @ 1:56 pm

@Wim: No, I get that. I’m not stupid. But I’m getting tired of all these secondary characters that were only supposed to be on for like 4 episodes get storylines. Mark tends to over-extend their welcome. That’s what I’m worried about. I don’t mind this (Clay making a friend while in the hospital) because it hasn’t been done before and it’s nice to see a fresh face.

As long as secondary characters act like side kicks to the main characters I don’t mind. You need that. But I don’t like them turning into “main characters” and getting all the screen time. I don’t tune in every week to see Mia and Chase. I tune in to see Naley, Brulian, Alex and Clinn (separately, not so much together.)

  11. Comment by DeeDee in August 11, 2010 @ 1:57 pm

man rather than bringing chase, mia and new people back they shudda just bought back peyton and lucas :\

but I’m also over that! and super excited for this season!!! :D !

  12. Comment by Alex in August 11, 2010 @ 2:16 pm

Good idea, just sick of all these complainers!

  13. Comment by kelly in August 11, 2010 @ 2:47 pm

wishmaster if thats true and the two most least liked characters have the most time in the season premiere and 2 episodes after then the ratings wont ever get better. mark needs to get the idea that we dont watch the show for clay and “it” we watch it for the core 3. i would rather watch naley gush over another baby, and brook plan a wedding for an hour vs. “it” crying all over clay in a coma, and clay being a “ghost” a-la lucas season 4.

  14. Comment by Alex in August 11, 2010 @ 2:53 pm

Why do people complain about Clay and Quinn getting screentime. THEY’RE SERIES REGULARS! You can’t have a show with just three characters as someone posted earlier.

  15. Comment by mark in August 11, 2010 @ 2:59 pm

ill allow it for the first few eps ( cus ok they were shot ) but if it continues ill be pissed

  16. Comment by mark in August 11, 2010 @ 3:01 pm

although 13 1/2 mins for BOTH characters not each aint tht bad imo

  17. Comment by Alex in August 11, 2010 @ 3:02 pm

Is anyone every happy with One Tree Hill

  18. Comment by Jenna in August 11, 2010 @ 3:04 pm

kelly…it’s true that CQ have more screen time then Nathan/Brooke in 8×01-8×03

WishMaster… How can you count their screen time when they are still filming 8×03?

  19. Comment by Alex in August 11, 2010 @ 3:35 pm

How can anyone count screen time for season 8 when it has not aired yet!

    Give it a rest already

  20. Comment by a in August 11, 2010 @ 3:35 pm

we get that cq are REGULARS. Thats NOT what were complaning about. We KNOW that they will get screentime but no way never should they get MORE screentime that Nathan, Brooke and Haley. Most people dont even like them.

  21. Comment by Amanda in August 11, 2010 @ 4:04 pm

I was all excited reading this story, praising that we finally get a good looking black guy on the show (cause face it we hardly ever see anyone that is of any color on this show)… then I read nothing but debbie downer stuff!! I love OTH, I always have and always will, probably more then I should. Those that are comparing who get what time slot sound like your in kindergarten and someone got more snack then you did! Get over it already!

  22. Comment by Buttercup in August 11, 2010 @ 4:13 pm

The point is, that the majority of the fans tune in to watch BROOKE,HALEY & NATHAN, not to see them play second fiddle to all the secondary characters like Quinn & Clay or to the “guest” stars they bring in every season, that end up having their own drama and storylines. Like Mia, Chase, Grubbs, Miranda and so on. They were supposed to be there for a few episodes, but if Mark likes the actor, he’ll keep them on, no matter how much the fans hate it. Yes, we may complain, but you can’t expect us to be happy that the core cast, the ones we watch for, will have less screen time them characters that have been on the show for one season. But, that’s just in my opinon.

  23. Comment by Lucy in August 11, 2010 @ 4:31 pm

I don’t know WishMaster or Jenna but it is true that Clay and Quinn and Julian have more than Nathan and Brooke to be sure.

Not obvious in 8×01. Awful in 8×02. Nathan has 6 scenes to count. Doesn’t talk in all of them. Brooke has 8 scenes. Don’t ask how many Clay, Quinn, or Julian have. It will make you mad.

  24. Comment by WishMaster in August 11, 2010 @ 4:43 pm

Lucy is correct about Nathan/Haley/Brooke getting less screen time compared to Julian/Clay/Quinn. Though Haley does have alot of stuff going on in 8.01! Clay and Quinn have the most screen-time in 8.02 for-sure.

Mark: Clay/Quinn have all their scenes TOGETHER in 8.01!
Jenna: Just going by all their scenes they have in 803.

As far as I know, Alex is not in 8.03 if any Alex fans are wondering.

  25. Comment by Buttercup in August 11, 2010 @ 4:46 pm

Doesn’t Julian spend most of his time in 8×02 with Jamie? I know he’s got scenes with Brooke in that episode, but Austin & Jackson filmed quite a few scenes for 8×02 if I’m not mistaken.

  26. Comment by a in August 11, 2010 @ 4:48 pm

eff this. im only youtubing OTH now

  27. Comment by Amanda in August 11, 2010 @ 4:57 pm

    @Buttercup!!

OK well lets think about this… if we didn’t have a MIA storyline, then we wouldn’t have a Redbedroom Records storyline (Peyton can’t manage a recording studio without having an artist, and I am not to sure if I would want Mia just coming and going as an artist, it wouldnt show character depth). I like her character. I like her storylines. I LOVE her music! So to me she is not just a sideline character. She helped this show move forward in more ways than one! Plus she is the one who inspired Haley to write again! She is awesome!

Chase, come on, he is far more than just a sideline character. He was around in highschool! And I loved that they brought him back! The night with the double date with NALEY was amazing as well as with Brooke and Owen! He blends in well with the “core three” as you put it! To me he belongs there in Tree Hill!

Yes Grubbs and Miranda are a little disconnected from the rest of the crew, but their characters are still likable, but it’s not like they have huge amounts of screen time either. But I did like them two coming together, but I am sure they won’t be around next season, afterall she was deported and he went after her, so I am sure you got your wish there!

And as far as Alex Quinn and Clay, these are WONDERFUL additions and now make up the “Core Seven”!! We are no longer in highschool! Plus the leaving of Peyton and Luke and arrival of the new characters immitate life more. I mean do we go our entire lives with only the same people or do people leave and new ones enter! I like seeing the complications of the new characters as well as the joys! Hopefully we will see all the relationships and friendships grow closer in Tree Hill! NEW CHARACTERS AND THE OLDER ONES!

Plus I am sure since Quinn and Clay had the biggest clif hanger that is why they are being shown on screen more! I mean when Lucas was in the hospital after his heart attack almost the entire following episode was him and Keith. They wouldn’t want us just hanging on waiting to what was gonna happen without them showing them to us! I am sure as the season progresses you will see your favorites more! Brooke has a wedding coming up after all… and Naley is preggo!!! Just be patient. Mark is a wonerful writter and creator! I am sure he will give enough to everyone! Hopefully it is gonna be a LONG SEASON!!! :)

  28. Comment by Danika in August 11, 2010 @ 5:25 pm

    @Amanda:

Mia: I could stand her then. That’s when she was fine. She was a side kick then because she was moving forward Peyton/Haley’s storylines.

Chase: Yes, High School. Good then. Double date = soo cute. However. Mia and Chase with their own storyline? Annoying. Like at the beginning of Season 7 when there was an episode early in the season and they showed up out of no where, didn’t talk to any other characters then left for the rest of the season (that was excellent, by the way.) Then when they did come back, I loved them again.

Grubbs and Miranda. Hated it. I liked Grubbs the bartender and Miranda the woman trying to shut down Red Bedroom records. That’s where they worked the best. I never liked them together. Way too disconnected. Not worth it.

Alex, Quinn and Clay seperately are wonderful. Alex I LOVE. Like ADORE her. I want more of her. Clay was great until they put him with Quinn so quickly. I dunno, the chemistry between those two isn’t there. It’s more of a friends thing. I really wish that’s what it was; Clinn as best friends cause that’s how they are in real life. Besides, their relationship moved way too quickly. They were both married and then suddenly its like oh let’s get together. I’d like it better if they were getting together this season, ya know?

And you’re right about Clinn. They’re only getting so much screentime because of the “cliffhanger” (sorry, but really? It’s not a huge cliffhanger. We know they’ll be fine. However, if they could have some complications after, sweeeeeet. =) Need something different.)

  29. Comment by Buttercup in August 11, 2010 @ 5:25 pm

    Amanda…are you Mark?

Great for you that you like having characters come in and have more screen time & storylines then the core 3, and yes core 3, they have been there since the beginning.

As for Mia, I liked her in the beginning, but she ended up getting way more screentime then the character deserved, and now she’s going to get mixed up in a “love” triangle with Alex & Chase. I don’t mind her having a scene here and there, but that’s it. She’s gone from a decent character to down right annoying!

Great, you like Chase and think he’s an important character, I think he’s a waste of time. Stephen should have stayed in Laguna.

Grubbs & Miranda, they were okay at first, but then it got laughable. Grubbs acted like Miranda was moving to Mars and he’d never see her again…when in reality she was going back to England. And with Grubbs on the show it was like watching a freaking music video at times! Same goes for Mia/Kate. Fine, play a song here and there, but not the whole album!

Quinn, Clay & Alex may be “important” characters, but they’re not part of the core. It’s great that you like them and that you think they are WONDERFUL additions to the show. I disagree, and I’m allowed to do that. I think Quinn is the worst character to ever set foot on the show…well next to K-Fed & Nick Lachey.

And I get that due to the cliffhanger, Quinn & Clay will get quite alot of screentime, but it feels like the writers been trying to shove them down out throats since the latter part of last season. And the fact that the majority of their scenes are cringeworthy doesn’t make things better. You like them, alot of people don’t.

As for Mark being a woinderful writer and creator….well that’s your opinion.

  30. Comment by llstory in August 11, 2010 @ 5:26 pm

Bethany and Jana seem somewhat culturally exotic, but One Tree Hill needs more diversity. I like the fact that he’s black.

And I hope he’s not a stereotypical token black guy who talks foolishness like damn Skills. I hate Skills. He sucks.

  31. Comment by WishMaster in August 11, 2010 @ 5:32 pm

Clay and Quinn are MARK SCHWAHN\’S favorite. Quinn is MARK\’S FAVORITE CHARACTER!

Buttercup, that is your opinion but lets try and be respectful to the people who likes Quinn… ok! You don\’t need to bash Quinn, say you don\’t like her and move on. There are quite abit of people who actually like Quinn, Quinn/Clay!

  32. Comment by ed fury in August 11, 2010 @ 5:37 pm

I never watched OTH 2.0 for the core 3 of Brooke, Haley, or Nathan. They failed to carry the show through the first 6 seasons so I knew they would not be able to do it for a 7th season. Now with an 8th season coming along… if you people still think the “core 3″ carry this show you have delusions of grandeur.

  33. Comment by Buttercup in August 11, 2010 @ 5:39 pm

I know that there are people out there that likes Quinn & Clay, but there are also ALOT of us out there that can’t stand them, well, Quinn anyways. Clay was a good character until Quinn got her hands on him. As for me bashing Quinn..what I said wasn’t exactly mean, I just stated my opinion. I’t would have been different if I had called her names and said I wished her dead.

  34. Comment by Buttercup in August 11, 2010 @ 5:43 pm

Without the core 3, there would be no show. I get that we can’t have the 3 of them on screen at all times, but what alot of fans are tired of is seeing characters that have been on for a season get more screentime and storylines then the ones tht have been around since season 1. I never said that Brooke/Nathan/Haley can carry the show alone, but it woiuldn’t hurt to give them some more stuff to do. I think Nathan is capable of doing other stuff then read a book, fold laundry or make a fool out of himself playing rockband with Jamie.
You may not watch for Brooke/Nathan/Haley, but I’d take a guess and say that most of us do.

  35. Comment by WishMaster in August 11, 2010 @ 6:03 pm

If you only watch for Brooke/Haley/Nathan, well you will be disappointed by their screen-time in 8.01-8.03 but if you are a fan of Quinn/Clay/Julian, they will be getting ALOT of screen-time, you don’t even realize how much those three have. From my understanding, Julian/Clay/Quinn will be getting ALOT of screen-time through-out Season 8. Alex like I said isn’t in 8.03 but she should be in 8.04!

Any LP Fans, there now a 95% chance Chad Michael Murray and Hilarie Burton will be back in the Season 8 FINALE as Lucas and Peyton. Nothing is set in stone just yet but it could happen, it may not!

  36. Comment by mark in August 11, 2010 @ 6:12 pm

@wishmaster yes and i was saying i dont think clinn having 13 1/2 mins in ep 1 is all that bad lol ep 2? BAD btw im suspicious of u lol defending quinn the /’s and talking bout leyton in finale? REEKS OF BREYTON

  37. Comment by Buttercup in August 11, 2010 @ 6:18 pm

Oh, I’m well aware that Quinn/Clay/Julian will have more screentime then anyone else. But you can’t possibly know how much screetime they will get through-out the season. They haven’t started filming episode 4 yet, so I’d say it’s a little soon to predict how the season will look when it comes to the amount of screentime any character will get. And there is o way you can know if Chad and Hilarie will be back for the season finale when the cast and crew don’t even know if it’ll happen at episode 13 or 22.

And like mark said, I’m pretty sure you’re Breyton.

  38. Comment by mark in August 11, 2010 @ 6:23 pm

*SHAKES HEAD* breyton breyton breyton breyton. lol

  39. Comment by WishMaster in August 11, 2010 @ 6:27 pm

I don’t know who Breyton is, I just wanna to share what I heard about Chad and Hilarie. They will for-sure be back for the season finale of S8. Did I say is it 8.13 or 8.22, no. I just said the FINALE of Season 8.

  40. Comment by mark in August 11, 2010 @ 6:31 pm

so now their for sure back? how did u find out please indulge me

  41. Comment by Buttercup in August 11, 2010 @ 6:39 pm

    Give it up Breyton!

And please, tell me how you could possibly know that Chad & Hilarie will be back for the series finale? Let me guess, Mark don’t you?

  42. Comment by WishMaster in August 11, 2010 @ 6:46 pm

I don’t know why you keep calling me Breyton but ok.
I have no contacts with Mark Schwahn, just from what I heard. Chad and Hilarie will be back for one episode in Season 8.

  43. Comment by mark in August 11, 2010 @ 6:50 pm

Mark obviously developed a time machine to go bk after writing s8 to tell his beloved breyton what happens. see its because theyre bffs. now now breyton what would he say if he knew u wer giving out this tantalising information? tut tut tut

  44. Comment by mark in August 11, 2010 @ 6:50 pm

    heard from where?

  45. Comment by Buttercup in August 11, 2010 @ 7:02 pm

Well “WishMaster” if you didn’t hear it from Mark, who told you about it? Tinkerbelle? You gotta have a source that told you they’d be back.I just find it funny that you claim they will be back, when Hilarie, just last week sai dshe hasn’t been asked to come back. Let me guess, Mark just decided this week to ask her right? So you didn’t hear it from Mark, who did you hear it from then? A friend of a friend?

  46. Comment by WishMaster in August 11, 2010 @ 7:09 pm

I don’t know about Hilarie but I do know Chad has been in talks to come back, so I assuming if Lucas is coming back so is Peyton. They are only filming 8.03 and currently writing 8.06, plenty of time to bring Lucas and Peyton back.

I got a source but I don’t want to reveal who my “source” in regards my information about Lucas and Peyton returning.

  47. Comment by a in August 11, 2010 @ 7:11 pm

so they only want chad back?

  48. Comment by WishMaster in August 11, 2010 @ 7:14 pm

Give it time! They just been in talks with Chad to come for an episode. They are still longs way off and still not knowing if we get 13 or 22 episodes.

They are currently filming 803 and writing 806. Long ways to go!

  49. Comment by Buttercup in August 11, 2010 @ 7:15 pm

Yeah..I still don’t buy it. At all.
First you say there is a 95% chance they’ll be back, and in the next post you’r sure they will be back for the finale. Which one is it? What’s next, they’ll be back for more then one episode? Maybe they’re doing a season 9 focusing on LP? How do you expect people to take you seriously and believe what you say when you change your story one minute to the next.

  50. Comment by a in August 11, 2010 @ 7:17 pm

why chad only and not hilarie as well?

  51. Comment by Buttercup in August 11, 2010 @ 7:18 pm

And now you say that nothing is set on stone and that they’ve just talked about having Chad on for one episode. So we go from 95% sure, to “For Sure” to “They’ve just been in talks about having him back”…..how does that work exactly?

  52. Comment by mark in August 11, 2010 @ 7:19 pm

dnt buy it. too many contradictions

  53. Comment by x in August 11, 2010 @ 8:28 pm

its comes for chad and hilarie to just chad for just assuming that hilarie is coming back

  54. Comment by x in August 11, 2010 @ 8:42 pm

haha this breyton its 95 % that both chad and hilarie will be back for the finale and the words is, just from what i heard both chad and hilarie will be back for one episode them he dont know about Hilarie but scince they have been in talks with chad is 95 % sure to assume that hilarie is coming back too

  55. Comment by Ryan in August 11, 2010 @ 10:23 pm

Lol @WishMaster… Just stop already. Nobody is buying your “information.”

  56. Comment by Teah in August 11, 2010 @ 10:40 pm

There are no plans to bring Chad and/or Hilarie back. Chad’s asking price per episode is too high for the show to afford him.

  57. Comment by a in August 11, 2010 @ 10:47 pm

so both hilarie and chad are asking for too much money? lol

  58. Comment by a in August 12, 2010 @ 1:58 am

^ Ok, Now I’m deadly sure…You are ‘Breyton’. LOL

I usually don’t give any crap about these minor characters but ironically I rally do like the idea of Clay’s making a friend at hospital…which means less CQ time.Yay!

  60. Comment by Ryan in August 12, 2010 @ 2:37 am

Wow! Your foilers get more ridiculous every time! This show is out there, but we’re not naive enough to think it will do something that insane.

@lucy how about Haley? You mentioned other characters and how many scenes they have but not her.

I still have hope that Quinn dies !!!!

  63. Comment by Amanda in August 12, 2010 @ 1:02 pm

    @ Buttercup…

To answer your question no I am not Mark, however I do respect everyone’s opinion of the show. I like things that others don’t. I even respect the ones who come up with crazy conspiracy theories about what the season holds (Breyton). Just like I hope everyone would respect each others including mine! I have always liked the side characters and to me it would be boring wothout them. I mean how far can they go with just Haley Brooke and Nthan. I mean that show would eventually be BORING! Yeah some of the relationships might be a little contrived, but I still love the show! Would I like to have Peyton and Lucas back, maybe for one episode, but I could care less to be honest. They are the ones who choose to leave the show, and I wish them luck on their future endevors, but I can’t say that I would respect them coming back. Not to mention I seriouly doubt they wanna come back! The show has moved on from Season 6… Tree Hill has lots more to experience… Hopefully this will be the last season, mainly because I am tired of hearing use to be fans saying how much they hate the show and bad mouthing it. I respect their opinions, but I don’t have to agree. So I leave it at that!

Its funny to me that people fight tooth and nail every season to get One Tree Hill picked up and then bitch about the show when it does. lol

I LOVE one tree hill and will watch the show no matter what! Im just thankful that we’re getting another season and I know that Mark will do a great job.

At the beginning of season 7 I wasnt sure if I would like clay or quinn because of course I want to see Brooke/Nathan/Haley but after re-watching the season, I enjoyed getting to know them and their storylines.

I am so excited about season 8 and will take what I can get!

You make a good point Amanda. I and I think everyone gets that a show can’t run with Naley and Brooke/Brulian. The side characters are fine, I just don’t like when Mark over-extends their welcome or gives them storylines that aren’t necessary and could be better spent on the core characters. Sometimes he uses the side characters perfectly and it works but other times it seems unnecessary. I don’t need to see Naley and Brooke for 42 minutes but sometimes it feels like they don’t give us enough of their storylines. And I feel like the secondary characters should have to earn the right to get storylines. Like Miranda and Grubbs was a little rushed. I think I would have liked it better this season but I did love all the Wakey!Wakey! music. It was nice when Mark brought back Mia and Chase at the end because I realized how much I missed them. So if Miranda and Grubbs don’t come back until the end of Season 8, I’ll probably realize how much I missed them too. Haha.
Of course, as soon as I watch season seven next week on DVD, I won’t notice how much screentime the secondary characters are getting. It usually ends up working fine. It’s just watching it with commercials on TV you end up paying more attention to how much each character is getting because your waiting for your favorites to get on, haha.

Completely agree, wim. You can’t have the same three actors carrying the show with no other minor characters. I don’t get all the complaining either. It’s simple enough not to watch the show if you don’t enjoy it.
