Starnews: “One Tree Hill” revisits its basketball roots for series finale

Posted by Amanda with 9 Comments

If you’ve ever wanted to be an extra for “One Tree Hill,” this could be your last chance. Fincannon & Associates posted today that they are looking for extras to appear in the locally filmed show’s series finale. Get the details here.

WARNING: MILD SPOILERS BELOW, FOLLOWED BY WILD CONJECTURE

In their casting call, they say need “A LOT” of extras, so that bodes well if you are interested. They also write that they need featured extras who can cheer (as in the cheerleading kind, not just the yelling kind, I assume) and play basketball.

Other than some stray hoops matches at the River Court, basketball hasn’t been on the show much, and this casting call sounds like the finale will see a return to the basketball-in-an-auditorium type of official team hoops we haven’t seen since Nathan became a sports agent.

StarNews: Going to An Evening with One Tree Hill? Read this

Before the filmed-in-Wilmington drama series “One Tree Hill” films its final episode, the show’s cast and crew will say farewell to the town they’ve called home for nine season. “An Evening with One Tree Hill” will be 7 p.m. Oct. 30 at the Beckwith Recital Hall at UNCW, featuring a Q&A with fans, musical performances and more according to the show’s official Twitter account. I’ll be there along with some of my StarNews colleagues reporting on the event, and you can follow our coverage on Twitter and at http://www.StarnewsOnline.com/OneTreeHill. If you are coming into town for the event, we want you to share your experience with us:

Also, don’t forget that seating for the event is general admission (first come, first served) and that no flash photography or any kind of video is allowed, according to the @RealOneTreeHill twitter account. Some of you have asked how long the event will run and who is moderating the panel discussion. As of yet, I don’t have answers. But if I get them before Sunday I will post them here.

As of Friday, tickets were still on sale for the video simulcast at Lumina Theater. The show says some cast members will come say hi before the event and give away T-shirts for the fans there.

StarNews: Burning Boat Festival returns to “One Tree Hill”

Posted by Amanda with 6 Comments

If you saw flames leaping from the foot of Market Street in Wilmington this week, don’t worry. It was all part of filming of “One Tree Hill’s” final season.

The show’s set designers parked a large pirate ship at Riverfront Park so they could shoot across the river from the “river court” at Battleship Park.

The shoot marks the return of the Burning Boat Festival to Tree Hill. Fans first saw the fictional celebration way back in season one. (Episode 3, specifically.) So it’s a nice way to bring the show full circle. And also a cool way to show off the Wilmington riverfront a few final times.

Our photographers captured a shot of the pre-burned ship surrounded by festival decorations.

StarNews: And the winner of two tickets to An Evening With One Tree Hill is… – We Love TV – Wilmington Star News – Wilmington, NC – Archive

Congrats to Madison Bitzer, who was selected by random drawing as the winner of our Evening with One Tree Hill ticket giveaway!

Madison, of Milledgeville, Ga., actually entered the contest because she wanted to win the tickets for her “One Tree Hill”-obsessed friend, so she promptly turned both tickets over to Cici Jacob, also of Milledgeville.

What a cool friend!

Cici and a guest will be traveling up from Georgia this weekend to attend “An Evening with One Tree Hill” Sunday night at the University of North Carolina Wilmington.
