TV Line: Castle Scoop: Hilarie Burton Excited to Tackle a ‘Radically Different’ Kind of Role

Hilarie Burton is set to guest-star on Castle at midseason, and the actress tells me the gig has her excited for multiple reasons — one being that she is “definitely a fan” of ABC’s Monday-night cop drama.
Burton also points out that her Castle episode will play host to a One Tree Hill reunion of sorts, seeing as Tom Wright — who directed several episodes of the CW sudser — will be calling the shots as she plays Kay Cappuccio, a Kardashian-like reality star who is famous for… well, no discernible reason.
“He is one of my favorite One Tree Hill directors, so I’m really looking forward to working with him again,” Burton effuses. “And this time playing someone so radically different!”

So she “has time” to guest-star that show but not THE show that made her? That got her the most devoted fans? This is crap. She really has time now, that she didn’t have 2 weeks ago? I know that i sound very bitter, but i AM bitter.
That’s what I was thinking too, @emma. I think its a slap in the face for all the fans that have been dedicated to her.
Give Hilarie a break. Maybe she wanted to spend her free time with her son and Jeffery Dean Morgan.
Hilarie doesn’t owe the OTH fans anything, people really do have a sense of entitlement. It’s unbelievable, get over it. Castle is an astronomically better show than OTH, as is White Collar. Can’t wait to see this episode and I’m glad to see Hilarie taking on quality projects. More power to her.
People, please! Peyton was literally my LEAST FAVORITE character on the show, and I could not care less if u never saw peyton sawyer again. However, she was playing games when interviewed and asked about returning to the show, and she said “maybe” and “she would like to” but never did. The series finale literally was filmed ten days ago and yet she is making plans to be on a show that she has no ties to, and its ridiculous. If she wanted to do castle, that’s fine but she could at least tell us she’s not interested in returning.
Peyton still and will always be my favorite character on the show. @Emma, I agree with you. If she had time to do all those other things, then she could’ve had time to come back to OTH. Even if she didn’t owe us anything, it still would’ve been something for her character. At least Chad camed back, even if it’s one episode.
@alyssa, I also agree with you. It was a simple yes or no if she was coming back. She kept acting silly with all these games.
I am glad for her. Peyton was one of my favorite characters on the show. I love her on White Collar too bad though I don’t watch this show. As for the other stuff, who is to say she was even asked back and it says she doing this between shooting White Collar. So I say shoot White Collar, shooting this, and her family she is busy. And I want Peyton back for a few shows.
I am also glad for Hilarie and although I would have loved to see Peyton back on the show, I don’t blame her in the least and I don’t think anyone else should either. I believe her Castle episode is filming December, so it was not a conflict for OTH and maybe she didn’t say no outright, because at the time she didn’t know for sure. I just don’t think it is fair for people who don’t know her or her motivations to judge her so harshly. I don’t normally watch Castle, but I’m excited to see Hilarie’s episode. I started watching White Collar because of her and now I love it; it’s wonderful that she has gotten so many career opportunities and if you’re truly fans, you should be happy for her too!
Maybe White Collar is filmed in the same location or near where Castle is filmed. OTH is in freaking NC. Maybe like some others pointed out she wasn’t asked back to the show, who the hell knows what happened. Certainly not us!! I say good for Hillarie for getting her face on a show like Castle that can expose her talent some more to a larger audience. She doesn’t owe anyone an explanation about how she chooses to handle her career, especially if we don’t know the real story of what went down behind the scenes.
Was Hilarie even asked back?? Maybe the reason she didn’t make an appearance was becasue she was never asked too!!
